Which skill listed do you think is in the greatest demand in the Canadian job market and the emerging global economy?
As we embark on a journey of growing in confidence as leaders, experiencing meaningful community and generate hope for your future as a leader, take a moment to reflect on what is in demand from leaders in our present day. In the article Human Adaptation and the Ingenuity Gap (Homer-Dixon, 2003), the author asks the question “can we solve the problems of the future?” (p. 1). With all that has been happening in our present world from pandemics to countries collapsing socially and politically, leaders are overwhelmed with changes constantly. This constant barrage of problems is what Homer-Dixon refers to as “cognitive overload (p.2).” I believe Homer-Dixon was correct when he stated the constant change and barrage of information has created a “more difficult world to operate in, especially for our leaders, than it used to be (p.2)”. Since we live in such a difficult world, I am curious to discover what you as a student at Trinity Western University see and understand about this world you live in and hope to lead one day. Look through the list of skill demands for leaders in 2022 found in the Learning Lab Overview (Learning Labs, 2021) we looked at in Unit #1 class. (See Reason 3: Career Connected Learning) Using the list from the Learning Lab Overview, answer the question I am asking below. QUESTION: Which skill listed do you think is in the greatest demand in the Canadian job market and the emerging global economy? Give examples from sources or your experiences to show why you think the skill is so important in today’s world? References: Homer-Dixon, 2003. Human adaptation and the ingenuity gap Learning Labs, 2021, https://far.twu.ca/community/learninglabs/overview (285 words) ___________________________________________________________________________________________ General Guidelines for Discussion Forums: Each post is about 300 words in length, using full sentences and paragraphs. Each post must incorporate at least two (2) citations + Reference list. All posts are clearly written and contain NO spelling or grammatical errors. Use APA Citations for all your sources and include an APA References list. (No Title Page or other APA formatting is required) Read the full article
