What did you get in your LSAT
i didn’t take the LSATs because i go to law school in australia! we don’t have the LSATs here. i also transferred into law in my second year of uni so i didn’t enter the traditional way.

so i’ve been slacking off a bit since classes started online and lecturers are still trying to figure out how to plan lessons but i’m hoping to catch up on everything during reading week next week (reading week is where no new content can be introduced in order to give students a chance to catch up on things). for now i might deep clean my room like everyone else in self isolation lol.

i am so in love with my new bookshelf and i’m also currently addicted to buying new books! i got another package delivered this morning, my newest additions are “circe” by madeline miller, “norse mythology” by neil gaiman and “and then there were none” by agatha christie. two other books i bought recently are “the night circus” by erin morgenstern and “the seven deaths of evelyn hardcastle” by stuart turton.
right now i’m currently reading “six of crows” by leigh bardugo, which i’m really enjoying! now the question is which book should i start next?

i just finished reading my first murakami book, “after dark”. i really enjoyed it and the way it managed to capture the feeling/mood of time in the middle of the night. the next murakami book i’ll read is “norwegian wood”, which i have heard great things about! finally i’ll read “kafka on the shore” to really get into murakami’s magic realism. i already want to buy more of his works!
does anyone have a favourite murakami book? leave a reply and let me know what it is and why!

doing my readings for tomorrow’s lecture! we’re starting to learn about intentional torts now which is really interesting! (much more interesting than our previous lectures on the history of law).

honestly... the past two law lectures have been really boring because we’re learning about the history of law lmao. it’s a drag but i know i gotta get through all the gritty stuff before getting into the interesting part.
anyway, i visited court today for my court report due on thursday. i’m really nervous ngl, i hope i do alright 🥺 it’s only 700 words though so i’ll get through it!

i had my second law lecture yesterday and it was actually really fun! before class started i spoke to a fellow classmate and she asked if i’d like to go to court with her to complete our court report together!
i was honestly really worried about class beforehand and was feeling a bit discouraged since i found the readings we were meant to do for prep a bit difficult to understand completely, however, after speaking to others i realised that i’m not the only one feeling this way and that it’s only natural that things are more difficult now since i’m only just beginning law. listening to the lecturer also really helped me in clarifying certain things.
towards the end of the class we split up into groups and competed against other groups in two rounds of trivia based on the readings. the group i was in ended up winning and we got chocolates! i think this class is just what i needed to pick me up again. i’ve realised that i shouldn’t be discouraged that i’m finding things difficult, if anything i should use it as an opportunity to challenge myself.

imposter syndrome is already creeping in after my first few law classes. it fucking sucks lol.
reminder to myself: i deserve to be here just as much as anyone else, i am smart, i am capable, no one is expecting you to know all the answers right now, it’s okay to make mistakes, you will get through this.

finished my first day back at uni and my first law class! it went pretty well, we didn’t do much other than getting to know each other and talking about what we will be learning about over the next few weeks. i sat down at a table with a few other girls and spoke to them during the icebreakers. they’re all really nice! i’m glad that i’m making friends already.
i’ve got another day of uni tomorrow. i’ve got my qualitative research tutorial and another law class focusing on legal research and writing. honestly, after such a long break from uni it’s such a drag to get back into, especially since i live so far away from campus (an hour and a half trip). i’ve gotten so used to sleeping in and not having to deal with a long commute. oh well, i’ll probably readjust by week 2.

18/02/20 - first day of law school
so uni break is finally over (ugh, haha) and the first day of term 1 is tomorrow today since it’s 12am right now. my first day of law school is also today! i’ve only got one class today from 4-6pm, which is my law lecture.
honestly, i’m really nervous about meeting everyone and also law class format. the lectures are the same size as tutorials (20-30 people) in order to encourage class participation. i’m also dreading the inevitable icebreaker activities, 100% the worst part about uni. although i am still excited to finally start law school, i’ve waited way too long for this!
anyway, i’m going to do my readings for law and then try to sleep! i’ll post again and let you guys know how my first day went.

the one thing that i’m not happy about with law is how much more expensive the textbooks are compared to my criminology textbooks. my yearly student debt has also risen due to law. it’ll all be worth it... right? 😅
