some more info for Ukrainians 🇺🇦 who plan to seek refuge in Poland 🇵🇱

you can cross the border by foot,

you don't need an ID, insurance or covid certificate to come here,

our border guards claim it takes less than 2 minutes to let a refugee into Poland (giant lines on the way to crossing points are mostly caused by the large number of refugees and technical issues that Ukrainian border guards are facing),

please do not try to cross illegally - we really are letting everyone in, including pets,

from 26.02., Ukrainians are able to ride PKP Intercity trains for free (these are our long-distance trains travelling across the country) - other public transport organizers are being encouraged to join the initiative,

there are people on the border offering pick ups and free acommodations for refugees (online you can find lists of contacts to the Poles ready to accept Ukrainians into their homes or to help in any other way),

i've also seen that there are some translators on the border, also ready to help,

as for now, the most crowded crossing point is the one in Medyka,

even the cities far away from the Ukrainian border (like my hometown, Gdańsk, situated by the Baltic Sea) are preparing acommodations for refugees,

some firms are paying their Ukrainian employees in advance, others are offering shorter period of recruitment for refugees looking for jobs here.

The Polish borders are open and the government has stated that as many refugees as possible will be able to come to Poland.

Below, some links that might be useful. I apologize in advance that the list is very Poland-centered, but these are the sources that I was able to verify as a Polish person.

For the Ukrainians coming to Poland:

⬆️ The website of the Polish government with all the information regarding crossing the Polish border and help for the refugees. As of now, the website is available in Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, and English.

⬆️ Blank forms that will help you cross the border with your pet. There is also legal background information in Polish, Ukrainian, and Russian. The documents have been prepared by a legal professional. In order to cross the border with your pet, the pet needs to be mocrochipped and vaccinated against rabies. These are the only requirements as of now, you don't need a passport for your pet.

A Facebook group for Ukrainians seeking legal aid in Poland

⬆️ There are many legal professionals there who are willing to help free of charge.

FOR UKRAINIANS WANTING TO GET TO POLAND

You can take your animals with you, they only need to be vaccinated against rabies and have a microchip. Know that there are vets on the border that are vaccinating animals.

Kids are able to enter without documents. They won't be separated from their parents.

You need any kind of identification to enter right now, doesn't have to be a passport.

Covid vaccines are available for people that are entering

There is also no quarantine after you enter

Some people:

- Always puts them before himself. Sacrifices his mental and physical health, his time, his happiness, and his life. Is ready to die for any of them, at any time

Others with Tony:

- Judge him constantly, without knowing him and even then, do not know him and are always wrong about him

- Don't listen to him and don't believe him to the point that Tony no longer even expects to be understood when he speaks to them, spend their time blaming him for everything that happens, when it's not his fault

- Never thank him for all he does for them, are only with him for what he can provide and never really care about him

He spends his life suffering, he takes everything on his shoulders, and never received anything in return from them except more pain

- Don't hesitate to hurt him physically and destroy him mentally when they are supposed to be his friends and when he would never hurt them

- Always make him feel like he doesn't deserve anything good. Always end up abandoning him, lying to him and betraying him.

Tony does everything and has always done everything for them, and all they do is break his heart

not maiko related, but this a very important post about what's going on in my country Colombia, it'd mean a lot if you read this until the end and help me spread it. I'll try to be as brief as possible.

Seven days ago Colombians have been protesting (yes, in the middle of a pandemic because the goverment happens to be more dangerous than a virus) for a couple of reasons like a tax reform, health reform, murder of social and enviromental leaders and alarming increase of femicides. The things is, protests in all the cities have always been peaceful, but the goverment is not only not listening to us but ordering to attack us and kill us. We're being noticed by others thanks to social media only (like twitter, facebook) where people are using hashtags, making livestreams and asking for help because the media in our country isn't speaking for us, we're being silenced and censored so the international media and other countries don't know about the abuse and violence we're going through.

All we want is other people know about what's going on so we can get the help we need, I'm using this platform to make it possible because the censorship by the Colombian media prevents the world and even colombians themselves from seeing the excessive abuse of the armed forces.

So, India is dying.

Look, I know a good number of you are from the US and things aren't amazing there either, but my country is literally on the brink of collapse. So I'd love it if we could talk about that for a minute.

If you can't do anything else, please just read and reblog.

A second COVID wave has taken out the healthcare system. There are no more hospital beds. There's an oxygen shortage. There's a critical vaccine shortage. The Central Government has thrown its hands up and is passing the baton to the State Governments to do what they can.

There are over 16 million covid cases. A record 330,000 new cases reported yesterday - comparable to the US at its peak. 187,000 dead as of today.

There is no plan.

Mass cremations are taking place. The cremation grounds are running day and night and they are short on wood. People are watching their loved ones die while waiting for a hospital bed, and then they're unable to give them the proper burial rights.

Hospitals are overwhelmed. Patients are being confined, two to a bed. They're the lucky ones.

We are on the verge of people dying in the streets.

This is the second-most populous country in the world. The largest democracy. A country that encapsulates over 15,000 years of recorded human history and has endured everything from famine to invasion to colonisation.

We might be at the end. This might be the thing that does us in.

People are dying.

People are dying.

People are dying and there is no plan.

More good news? Variants are popping up. A double mutation strain has shown up. It is resistant to current vaccines. This will not go away. This is the devastation they warned of when the anti-maskers were out protesting the minor inconvenience of covering their face in public.

My country is on the verge of an emergency state. Our government has failed us. This is as dire a situation as it ever could be.

Look. I don't do much with my life. I write fics, some of you have read them and that's pretty much it. I spend my days with my head in the clouds because that's where I like to be.

But two days ago, my grandmother tested positive, had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance caught fire.

She barely made it to the urgent care she needs.

So, here I am, using whatever meager platform I have to cobble this request together. Because I have to do something.
