Hi! So, tumblr has been killing itself slowly and becoming more like an actual hell site (not affectionate). Moving the option bar from the top to the side was just the final nail in the long row of nails in the coffin for me, so I'm making my leave unless a miracle happens lol. I won't delete this account yet, but I'm moving to pillowfort because at this point it's just tumblr 2.0 with less porn bots, more nsfw art, and hopefully more capable staff.
If any mutuals are there, you can find me under the name beweme!
reblogging because replies are turned off for me :< I took 33, Thank you so much!♥
Wanna join Pillowfort?
With tumblr seeming on the verge of hitting the enshittification threshold, it might be a good idea to get set up on another platform just in case. I'll be completely honest that my main fandom is basically nonexistent over on PF, but it's a pretty solid platform (kind of a cross between tumblr and LJ) and I have a bunch of invite links if anyone wants one.
I'm putting them in a numbered list so if you take one, comment what number it was and I'll cross it off.
(Some people are saying replies are off; I have not turned them off, and thus I cannot turn them back on. Functional webbed site at work.)
I'd love to list these links out properly, so you can see exactly what you're clicking more easily, but trying to just paste it in turns it into an embed so there's no way for me to list them clearly aside from making hyperlinks. Sorry about that.
Btw much as I love to make fun of twitter and reddit's business decisions, I have 0% trust in tumblr's management to not go a similar route so this is your gentle reminder that you should regularly go to your blog settings to export your blog. That's a fancy way of saying you can download a backup of your blog so if everything goes down you'll still have a backup of your posts & convos.
ao3 is important because its a library database and one of the best in the world, so much that we learn about it in graduate library sciences classes. it is also one of the last fandom archives on the internet. fan art is already disappearing and if it hasnt been swept up in an image catching site like pinterest than it is very difficult to find. hell most of the fanart on pinterest is linked to wattpad or ffnet - dated fanfiction sites which saved the art from the void of the expanding internet.
if you dislike ao3 because it allows problematic content to exist that is a personal gripe that you have to reconcile with the rest of humanity's interest in taboo and elicit material how about you start targeting porn hub instead which involves real people.
