Cromartie High School" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cromartie_High_School ), because i just couldn’t get enough of two of their ending themes for the show ("trust me" parts 2 and 3). it was like the most iconic progrock-weirdopunk-japanese-king-crimson-parody-but-better music i had ever heard, and i needed more. but back in the day, it wasn’t as easy to find stuff like this (especially for a dumb kid in america, and keep in mind this was before filelockers and torrents really picked up), so i had to search for WEEKS and MONTHS. luckily, i finally found some, but it was of lower bitrate quality. i didn’t care, and listened and treasured it as gold ever since. my favorite album was definitely “a violent city"(which i THOUGHT was from 1985 originally, but it looks like it was actually from 1997? or was that juat a reissue???), but i digress. (idm, ambient, electronic) i got into this guy via a “Christ." remix he did of “happyfour twenty" (off of the Vernor Vinge 12"). it was just incredible. definitely one of the best songs i’ve ever heard. anyways, i found out he was part of the (now defunct) “Benbecula" label, which produced a LOT of amazing stuff (Christ.,Frog Pocket, ect.), and grabbed his “minerals series" album. it was amazing. i really like how he can be so intense whilst remaining mellow at the same time. really addictive beats. but i was never really able to find much besides that one album (and two remixes) online, and info was sparse. but today i did a random search and came across his ep! i’m really enjoying this, and thought i would upload. great stuff. if you like boards of canada stuff, you should def listen to this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6q5oG_FFSY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR4EoZqU2rg

back to “rare" stuff again. this time around it’s an old favorite of mine, hideki matsutake! he did a lot of work with yellow magic orchestra (one of my two absolute favorite bands ever), and some actually consider him to be the “fourth member". but he certainly deserves respect in his own right. this man does AMAZING WORK. he actually pulls off the progressive space synth disco thing a LOT better than ymo tbh, and actually he may be the best space synth creator i’ve ever heard! so check him out if you like that kind of thing (everybody should, as it’s an amazing genere.) he also jumps all around genres throughout the years, and is actually still making music to this day. i have a LOT of his stuff, and it’s harder to find, so i may post more of it later on. the first album is “space fantasy". stereotypical, yet perfected prog synth space disco. the tracks aren’t split up, sadly, but that’s because it was recorded from vinyl. this was REALLY hard to get my hands on, so there just weren’t any other options. considering the style of music, it isn’t that big of a deal, though. it isn’t some quick forgettable hyperspeed travel through space, rather it’s a slow and fantastic exploration. this is great. really really great.
