First of all oh my god the way my heart exploded seeing the tags and response 😭 seeing such an introspective response to my art makes me feel such a way I can’t even put into words

I actually like keeping stuff vague so this is very much up to interpretation. And if your view of the art differs from what I originally planned I love that so much bc it’s like a new perspective (especially bc I’m not an expert on Greek tradition/myth in any sense lol). And!! I actually didn’t read the whole thing when it was drawn so even I have a different view of it/would change who was originally represented if I drew it again.

At the time of drawing this, I’ve ONLY read up to book 6(?) of the odyssey. Since it’s been finalized I ended up reading the whole book. The structure of the drawing is more or less the Tarot card, “The Moon”. The hands on the left are Poseidon and Athena/Hermes. The hands on the right are Calypso (who’s kinda ‘handing him off’, meant to parallel Athena/hermes who’s holding his shoulder) and Io.

The person in the back is Penelope, there’s an alternative version where she was drawn in yellow and the moon was spewing off flames because it was the “seed of fire”. Didn’t like how the colours worked at the end so I made it all blue (since he’s meant to be like. ‘Underwater’)

Again i Hope this doesn’t like. Cheapen or simplify the drawing, it’s just what I worked with at the time of reading!! :3 thank you for the reblog and comments seriously aaaaa

UAGHh Im resolving it, the whole "dead wife" thing hits too hard im sorry im WEAK. My friend and i just made it so she was missing for like 28 years having faked her own death (its a whole....crime drama blackmail thing) but she only did so because her husband was a detective and she knew he'd be on the case until he figured it out for himself. Shit hurted
