Give Me a Reason
Pairing: Kara Danvers x Gender Neutral!Vigilante!Reader
Requested: Yes (REQUESTS ARE CLOSED, this was for my 1.5K follower celebration)
Word Count: 1K
Warnings:  Enemies to lovers, gunshot wound mention
Description: You and Kara are on two opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to how you save people. You take a Red Hood-like approach versus Kara's Superman approach. What happens when you hear about a hit out on Supergirl's life? Will she finally start trusting you?
Tumblr media
“Ghost,” the voice behind you could have only belonged to one person. It caused you to grin as you turned to face her.
“Supergirl,” your voice was even, maybe even a little seductive.
The two of you had been dancing around one another for the better part of a year now since you had come to National City and set up shop. The only issue was Supergirl, she and you had tangled a few times and it was fun to antagonize her. The two of you had different moral codes. You weren’t afraid to kill those that had no moral code. Supergirl didn’t feel the same way and the two of you were constantly clashing with one another.
If you were being honest, the cat and mouse game the two of you were playing. It made things more interesting.
From time to time you kept an ear to the ground with those who operated and looked for work on the darknet. It helped you know where you needed to be and stop anything before it could get out of hand. Not everyone agreed with your methods, but you had seen what a poor job the justice system did, and sometimes things needed to be handled outside the law.
That was when you began hearing chatter amongst the underground of a hit out on Supergirl. You weren’t worried at first because she was tough and Superman’s cousin, she had one weakness that could be fatal.
Kryptonite.
The word on the sites was that someone had acquired a bullet made of the stuff and they were looking for someone to take her out. That was something you couldn’t allow. You would be lying if you didn’t say you had a little crush on her.
You gathered up your things and headed out into the city to find the location where the shooter was going to be. You knew the plan was to stage a break-in at one of the banks and when Supergirl arrived that was when the shooter was going to take her out. You loaded your guns and waited.
The team that was set to trip the alarms approached, the shooter was still out of sight. The crew was professional, you had heard of these guys before and wondered how much money they had decided to take for this job. It wasn’t their usual MO so it must have been a hefty sum if they were risking this much.
Alarms started to go off and before you knew it Supergirl arrived. You tried to find a better vantage point to get the shooter with, but they were good and covered all their bases. You cursed and right when you got to the perfect vantage point a shot rang through the night. “NO!” You shouted and then took your shot, taking the sniper out. The team was scattering when they heard the second shot.
You gathered up your things and raced down to where Supergirl was lying on the ground bleeding. She was still breathing and her eyes were open and watching as you raced toward her, “Ghost?”
“Not now, come on,” you picked her up and started toward your apartment. “I can’t be seen here.” She didn’t say anything else as she let you lead her back to your apartment. She had her hand pressed firmly against the bullet wound and you heard her groan a couple of times when you jostled her too much. “Sorry,” you would mutter and she would just make a dismissive noise.
Once safely ensconced in your apartment you set to work on patching her up. She watched you as you removed the bullet and stitched her up. She didn’t say anything for the longest time, she just watched. You were too preoccupied with trying to make sure she didn’t bleed out on your bed to care if there was a conversation going or not.
“Why?” Her voice was a little hoarse.
You glanced at her, “Because you don’t deserve to die.”
She grew quiet and watched you put the finishing touches on her wound. Her eyes tracked you as you moved into the bathroom to clean your hands and throw away the bloodied rags. “We’re supposed to be enemies, you know?”
You didn’t turn to face her this time, “Says who?”
“Ghost, you kill people,” you heard her shift and sit up slightly. “I save people.”
You turned and leaned back against your sink, “Have you ever stopped and looked at the people I kill? I’ve seen how the justice systems work, and I know that half of these people are gonna get away with what they do. I’m no different than Gotham’s Red Hood. The men that came after you tonight do not care who they kill or why. Their end game is money and only that.”
“You can’t just serve out your own justice, there are channels--”
“Channels that fail!” You said. “People that do the most horrendous things walk free and repeatedly do them and no one bats an eye. Supergirl, I’m not asking for you to agree with me or even view things the way that I do. I don’t care. But I don’t regret what I did tonight, taking out that sniper that shot you, I’d do it again.”
She grew quiet and then said, “Thank you.”
You nodded your head, “Yeah, no problem.”
“Why’d you bring me here? You could have taken me anywhere, but clearly, you brought me to your home?” She was steering it away from the morals of killing or not killing the people you two fought on a nightly basis.
“Would you believe me if I said I trusted you?” She could see the vulnerability written on your face.
“Yes,” she answered without hesitation. “My name is Kara.”
You sucked in a breath at her show of faith. Reaching up you removed the mask that hid your eyes, “Y/N.”
She smiled at you and you felt your heart skip a couple of beats. “Let’s start over, want to grab dinner with me tomorrow night at that new place downtown?”
You couldn’t believe that this was actually happening, but it was making you incredibly happy. “Yeah, I’d like that,” you responded.

Part of Your World Part One
Pairing: Prince!Damian Wayne x Fem!Mermaid!Reader
Requested: Yes (REQUESTS ARE CLOSED, this was for my 1.5K follower celebration)
Word Count: 1.8K
Warnings:  Fairytale AU, fluff, angst
Description: You just want to know what it's like in the human world and when you spot a ship you get an up-close and personal look. Onboard is a handsome prince who you can't take your eyes off of, but things take a turn for the worst when a storm hits. Will the prince ever know that you were the one that saved his life?
Tumblr media
The water was warm as you propelled forward, your green tail flashing in the sunlight. If your friends knew that you were out here they would scold you and tell you that it was too dangerous. But you didn’t care, you needed adventure and freedom. You needed to see the world beyond Atlantis and all the merfolk.
You leapt from the water and did a somersault in the air laughing as you dove back into the water again. It was days like this when you felt the freest; when you could just imagine what it would be like to go off on an adventure and maybe meet someone dashing and fall in love.
Floating on the surface of the water you looked up at the clear blue sky and watched fluffy clouds pass you by. A bird circled overhead and you wondered what it would be like to fly like one of them. There were so many things that you wished you could try, your tail slapped lightly against the surface of the water.
You stayed there just floating for hours watching the sky change until night fell and the stars appeared in the sky making patterns. You were getting ready to head back to your home when you heard music from a ship and ducked down slightly, watching as it approached. None of the sailors were paying attention to the water.
That was when you saw him.
He had black hair and the prettiest green eyes you had ever seen. He was grinning as he played a human instrument that you had seen but didn’t know the name of. You swam closer to see if you could see him better and when you did your breath caught in your throat. Who was he?
You could have stayed there forever watching the festivities unfold. Watching him longingly and hoping this moment would never end. “Prince Damian!” One of the men shouted. This one had dark hair and bright blue eyes.
“Shut it, Dick,” Prince Damian said. “We’re brothers for God’s sake.”
“But only I’m the blood son,” another boy with black hair and blue eyes approached, his tone mocking. There was a teasing smile on his face, “That’s what you first said when you came to live with us.”
Prince Damian rolled his eyes, “Well thankfully I’ve seemed to have grown out of that phase.”
The party continued and just when you were about to leave you heard the rumble of thunder and felt the wind against your skin. Looking skyward you saw that the stars had disappeared and in their place, angry clouds took their place.
The crew began crying about a storm and rushing to prepare the ship for it. You ducked back into the water to avoid being seen and watched the waves thrash the ship about. You watched as the ship was overtaken by a wave and people on board were thrown into the water. Some had managed to escape, but Prince Damian hadn’t been so lucky.
You watched in horror as his body hit the water and slowly began to sink along with the debris of the ship. Darting forward you caught him in your arms and hoisted him to the surface. You knew that humans couldn’t breathe underwater as you could. The storm was still raging and you could hear his companions calling out his name, but you couldn’t risk letting him go or exposing yourself to the humans. So you began dragging him back to the shore, being extra careful not to let him slip under the water.
It was mid-morning when you finally reached a beach close to the human castle. The crew that had been with him had called him a prince, and you only hoped that this is where he was from. Lying him gently on the ground you checked him over to make sure that he was still breathing and there were no major injuries. He seemed well enough, but you wouldn’t know just how badly he was feeling unless he woke up.
You watched him as the sun rose higher and higher in the sky, not wanting to leave his side until he woke up or you heard someone coming. Stroking his hair away from his forehead you gently trailed your fingers down his cheeks. His skin was soft and you found yourself studying him more closely now that you could see him up close. He was handsome and you found that your heart was skipping beats.
You had heard the other merfolk talking about this feeling. They said that they felt it when they were attracted to another merfolk. You weren’t going to deny that you found Damian attractive, but it would never work between the two of you. Your gaze fell upon your tail and you lightly slapped it against the wet sand.
Damian groaned and your gaze went back to him. He was beginning to shift in the sand and with a heavy heart, you dragged yourself back into the water. You couldn’t leave just yet though, there was no way. You peeked at the beach again and saw him pushing himself up onto his forearms. He looked around confused and when he looked toward the water you ducked down a little hoping he hadn’t seen you.
“Damian!” The female voice drew your gaze and you saw two women and one of the men from the ship running toward him. “Oh my gods, Damian!”
Now that people he knew had arrived you took your leave, your mind still on him and wondering if you would ever see him again.
The others fussed over Damian as they led him back toward the castle. Cassandra and Stephanie were telling him how glad they were to see him and how much trouble he was going to be in when he was better for worrying them. Dick was also telling him that Tim and Jason were preparing to go back out to look for him to make sure he hadn’t been drifting on broken bits of the ship.
“How did you even manage to make it to the shore?” Cassandra asked as they headed up the steps of the palace.
Damian looked toward the sea, a vague sense of a woman carrying him at the fringes of his mind. “I don’t know,” he said truthfully. “Maybe I have a guardian watching over me.”
“You truly are one lucky bastard,” Stephanie snorted.
Once inside the servants were fussing over him as well, but Alfred waved them away, “Prince Damian, so good to see you alive and well.”
“You too, Pennyworth,” Damian said with a slight nod of his head.
“I’ll have some tea and food brought up to your room and have one of the servants draw you a warm bath,” Alfred said as he turned. “In the meantime, your father would like to see you for a moment. Humor him.”
Damian didn’t say anything and let the others lead him to Bruce’s study. His father was seated behind his desk staring at papers that demanded his attention. He looked up when the doors to his study opened and Damian noticed the relief in his eyes when he gazed at his son. “I see you managed to make it back alive. You truly do have nine lives like your grandfather.”
Damian chuckled and said, “You’re one to talk, Father. I’ve heard of the attempts on your life as well.”
“I’m glad you’re all right,” Bruce said, his tone changing. “When the others returned in the boat without you I was worried. Get some rest and take a few days to recover.”
“Thank you, Father,” then he let Dick lead him up to his room where food and a bath were waiting. “I can handle things from here, Dick. Thanks.”
Dick merely nodded and closed the door behind him. Once left alone in the safety and quiet of his room he flashed back to the feeling of arms and seeing a vaguely female form holding him close. Then when he woke on the beach he thought he had seen someone watching him from the water. That was when his family had surrounded him and his attention had been pulled away.
But he couldn’t help but wonder who had saved him.
He laid in the tub eating the food that had been brought to him and staring out the window toward the sea wondering if the woman was out there.
You couldn’t stop thinking about Prince Damian and wondering how he was doing. He was still alive when you had left him, but what if something serious was wrong and he had succumbed to his wounds. That thought scared you.
When you knew you could slip away without anyone noticing you swam back to the shore and found the castle. Perched on the beach, looking as though it had been carved out of the seaside cliffs you looked up at the white walls with interest. The dock was blessedly empty as well as the beach. You wondered where everyone was and if this was some sort of abandoned castle, but then you heard laughter and on a walkway leading between two parts of the castle were two women. You could hear them talking faintly, but had no idea what they were saying. A part of you wished you knew so you could see if they said anything about Prince Damian, but you were out of luck.
They disappeared inside and you continued to search for any signs of Prince Damian and that was when a door opened and he stepped out onto the balcony. The wind rustled his hair and you felt your mouth drop open slightly. He looked tired but otherwise unharmed.
His gaze traveled to the water and his gaze locked with yours. You should have run, you should have fled, but you couldn’t help it. You couldn’t stop staring at him. Then he turned and disappeared inside. You knew that you couldn’t stay any longer, not without risking him finding out what you were.
So you ducked below the surface and saw what you were.
That was the one rule, the humans couldn’t know about what lurked below the surface. What manner of creatures inhabited the depths. You had risked enough coming here and him seeing you, but no more. Prince Damian was merely a fantasy for you and one you would never be able to obtain.
Damian on the other hand skidded across the dock, rushing to see if he really saw what he thought he had seen. But when he reached the end of the dock you were no longer there. “WHO ARE YOU?!” He screamed out across the water.
There was no response and he felt arms go around him and heard Alfred say something softly, but he couldn’t hear. His only thoughts were of the mysterious woman in the water and how he wanted to find her.

She Hates Me
Pairing: Damian Wayne x Fem!Reader
Requested: Yes (REQUESTS ARE CLOSED, this was for my 1.5K follower celebration)
Word Count: 1.8K
Warnings:  Enemies to Lovers, Angst, fluff
Description: Damian seems to have everything handed to him and like he thinks he's better than others. That's the reason why you don't like him and are less than friendly, but when Bruce puts the two of you on a project together you learn that there's more to Damian than meets the eye.
Tumblr media
Damian seemed to have everything handed to him. That made you angry because you worked your butt off constantly to be taken seriously and he just waltzed in and had people fawning all over him. Well, you weren’t going to be one of his adoring fans. You had decided that the moment you saw the youngest Wayne.
You had nothing against the others, they worked just as hard as you did and had better personalities. Damian seemed to have a permanent scowl on his face which only seemed to irritate you more. Not everyone had to smile all the time or even be happy all the time. But would a single smile here and there really hurt anyone? No, he just had to look down his nose at the people that were “beneath him” and act as if he didn’t care.
“Good morning, Y/N,” Dick swung by your desk with a wide grin on his face. Damian was a few paces behind him, but you ignored him.
“Good morning, Mr. Grayson,” you knew it ruffled his feathers slightly when you didn’t call him Dick and it was fun to watch his reactions.
He wrinkled his nose, “Y/N, how many times do I have to tell you to call me Dick.”
“A few more times, Mr. Grayson,” you grinned as you rested your head on your hand.
“Richard,” Damian’s sharp tone caused the two of you to glance his way. His usual scowl seemed to be dialed to ten as his green eyes were trained on his older brother. “We’re needed in the conference room.”
“Right,” Dick turned back to you. “See you later, Y/N?”
You nodded, “Have a good day, Mr. Grayson.”
“Argh!” He groaned before heading in the direction of the conference rooms.
Yours and Damian’s eyes locked for a moment before he quickly glanced away and hurried after Dick. You ignored the way your heart skipped a beat and went back to work. Repeating the mantra he’s not handsome, he’s not handsome, he’s not handsome in your mind.
The truth of the matter was that you found Damian insanely attractive. You knew that Bruce Wayne was a catch, but you had seen his mother as well and she was a stunning woman. It wasn’t fair that a man with incredibly attractive parents could have such a poor personality. But he couldn’t have it all or that wouldn’t be fair you supposed.
When Damian caught up to Dick his brother asked, “What’s up with you and Y/N? Every time I see the two of you in the same vicinity she ignores you as if you aren’t even there.”
Damian couldn’t help but feel a little pang in his chest at the mention of how you seemed less than thrilled with his presence near you. “Boy meets girl, girl hates boy’s guts. It’s a tale as old as time really.”
Dick snorted, “What the hell did you do to piss off someone as sweet as her?”
Damian gave his brother the side-eye, “Is there a law that says Miss Y/L/N has to like everyone?”
“No, but it clearly bothers you that she doesn’t,” Dick pointed out.
Sometimes Damian hated how perceptive his older brother was. Though he expected nothing less being raised by the world’s greatest detective. “I’m not even going to dignify that with a response, Grayson,” he sniffed before pulling the door to the conference room open and stepping inside.
You nervously shuffled the papers on your desk, your coworkers giving you strange looks as you arranged everything on your desk over and over again. In ten minutes you would be going to see Bruce Wayne himself about a new project he was running. This would be your first time meeting him, you had been hired by someone from the HR department when you had come in for an interview several years ago.
Slowly you had been working your way up the latter and now it was your time to shine.
Gathering up the items you might need for the meeting you headed for the elevator that would take you to the top floor where the executive offices were. Butterflies had made themselves at home in your stomach and showed no signs of leaving. You took several steadying breaths just as the doors opened.
Bruce’s assistant was waiting for you with a smile on her face, “Mr. Wayne is expecting you Miss Y/L/N, you can head on in.”
“Thank you,” you told her before pushing the door open. What you hadn’t expected to see was Damian sitting in one of the chairs before Bruce’s desk, his right leg draped over his left, hands clasped around the knee. He barely looked at you as you numbly entered the office and gave a shaky smile to Bruce. “Good afternoon, Mr. Wayne.” You looked at Damian, “And, uh, Mr. Wayne.”
“Damian is fine,” he said. “Less confusion that way.”
All you could do was nod and turn back to Bruce. He could tell you were nervous and said, “You’re not in trouble, Miss Y/L/N. I was actually hoping you would be up for helping with a charitable plan I have.” He turned your attention to a model he had resting on a table not too far from his desk. “It will be an orphanage, something close to my heart since most of my children have been adopted,” he explained. “I, unfortunately, do not have the time to oversee anything myself so you and Damian will be overseeing this together.”
You felt yourself stiffen in your seat, you would have to work with Damian. The one person in the entire Wayne Family that you disliked the most. If you stepped one toe out of line or made one mistake he could get you fired. Your heart pounded painfully in your chest and your mouth felt dry as you tried to swallow.
“Of course, Mr. Wayne,” you rasped, praying he wouldn’t catch anything off about you, but you could feel Damian’s gaze on you.
Bruce smiled at you, “I’m sure the two of you will work well together. From what I hear from your supervisor Miss Y/L/N, you’re quite the hard worker which I appreciate. They also said that you have a good eye for things and would be an asset to this project.”
“I will certainly try my hardest to make this the best that it can be,” you said, feeling some pride surge through you at what Bruce said.
“Excellent, I’ll let the two of you work out a game plan together and eagerly await the results,” with that the two of you were promptly dismissed.
You stood a bit stiffly and followed Damian out of the office. His hands were shoved in his pockets and he said, “Meet me in my office in twenty minutes, I’ll order lunch for us and we can begin going over plans.”
All you could manage was a nod and you hurried back to your desk to prepare for your lunch meeting with Damian. The thought slowly sunk in, you would be working with the Wayne you hated the most.
Okay, maybe hate was a strong word. You didn’t hate Damian, you just had a strong dislike for him.
You grabbed what you needed and twenty minutes later you were in his office overlooking the city. He had your favorite lunch waiting for you and you briefly wondered how he had known. You hadn’t told him what you wanted and he hadn’t told you where he was going to be ordering from. Shaking the thought off you took a seat before him. “Do you want to discuss plans while we eat or would you rather eat first and then discuss a game plan?”
“We can talk and eat,” he picked the food up and moved toward the couch that was located in the corner of his office. “Help yourself to anything,” he said over his shoulder as you lingered by his desk for a moment.
“Thanks,” you murmured as you finally found the courage to take a place next to him on the couch.
From there the two of you ate and discussed plans for the orphanage. Building plans had already been agreed upon. Yours and Damian’s job was to make sure that there were no hiccups and that the party to celebrate the opening went according to plan. It was simple, but things could always go wrong especially since this was new construction.
When you talked Damian listened and then would give his input when you finished. The two of you agreed to meet once a week to go over the progress reports and twice a month would go to see how the construction was going. You wouldn’t be working that closely with him until it was time to finalize details for the party to raise even more funds.
Weeks passed and the two of you spent late nights at the office together. You checked on the progress of the orphanage and you slowly found yourself warming up to Damian Wayne which seemed odd. He would crack subtle jokes and one day it hit you just the right way that you doubled over from laughter causing him to start laughing as well. It left you feeling a little conflicted.
You hated him.
But did you?
On one of your many nights together he paused what he was doing to look at you, “May I ask you something?”
“Sure,” you said absentmindedly, thinking that it would be about the project.
“Why don’t you like me?” You jerked your head up, caught off guard by his question. You hadn’t hidden your disdain for him, but you hadn’t been outright awful to him either. You tried to think of a response to his question, just anything to say. “I know you don’t so please don’t lie to me.”
You blew out a breath, “Because you act better than everyone else? Because I’ve had to work twice as hard to get where I am but because you’re a Wayne you get it handed to you. Maybe you’re actually a nice person, but no one would know.”
He was silent as he considered her words, “You’re right, I do tend to look down on others. And it’s not because of Bruce.” The last part was said defensively. “My grandfather raised me along with my mother for the first ten years of my life before my father took me in. My grandfather used to tell me that the world was mine and I guess some of that mentality still lingers.”
You pursed your lips, “Well your grandfather sounds like a delight.”
He chuckled at that, “He was… something.” Rubbing the back of his neck he asked, “Could we start over? Clean slate and all of that?”
You smiled and nodded, “I’d like that a lot.”
The two of you shook on it and spent the rest of the evening talking about anything but the project.

Who Hurt You?
Pairing: Tim Drake x Gender Neutral!Reader
Requested: Yes (REQUESTS ARE CLOSED, this was for my 1.5K follower celebration)
Word Count: 1.5K
Warnings:  Soulmate AU (they can feel one another's pain), mention of injuries (not told in great detail, slight angst, fluff
Description: When you were younger your soulmate started having major injuries. You always wondered if they were okay, and then you learned just what kind of life they led.
Tumblr media
Most soulmates who felt each other's pain only had to deal with bumps and bruises on occasion, sometimes a broken bone here and there. You however had a soulmate who was extremely danger prone and you wondered if they were okay. You wondered if they were in a safe environment if they got hurt as much as they did.
People had tried to locate your soulmate when you were younger to make sure they were safe, but it was hard because they could be anywhere in the world. Trying to track them down wouldn’t be easy especially if the injuries hadn’t been reported or taken care of at a hospital.
It took a while, but you got used to the injuries and the pain. You didn’t like it, but if your soulmate was going to be hurting all the time you tried to ignore it as much as you could and would go to the nurse or the doctor for the really painful injuries.
It wasn’t until you were caught in a skirmish between several vigilantes and some villains that you learned who your soulmate was and what they did for a living. It was a terrifying moment, one moment you were just trying to get home and the next you were in the middle of the battle.
You saw Red Robin battling with some masked villain and when the person kicked him in the stomach sending him flying back you dropped to your knees feeling the air leave your lungs. You were gasping for breath, but your eyes were locked on Red Robin.
He was your soulmate and now all the years of random injuries both minor and major made sense. Everything clicked and you crawled toward him, still trying to breathe. He was groaning when you reached him, and you weren’t sure what to do. All you knew was that your soulmate was before you and injured.
“You okay?” You managed to gasp out as your lungs refilled with air.
He looked at you and gave you a confused look, “You need to get out of here.”
That was the last thing you were going to do. “Not when my soulmate just got the air knocked from my lungs.”
His eyes widened and just when it looked like he was going to say something to you someone jerked you back. “No!” Red Robin shouted.
All your instincts told you to fight him off, but when something cool and sharp pressed into your throat you froze, fear causing you to stop thrashing. “It’s up to you, Red, let us go and they get set free, or keep fighting and they die.” You gritted your teeth and tried not to let them man holding you know how your stomach dropped at his words.
You had just found your soulmate and now some asshole was trying to ruin it for you. “Stop!” Red Robin shouted. “Everyone stop!” The others stopped and the man grinned. “Let them go, we won’t follow.”
The man shoved you forward, straight into Red Robin’s arms and he and his buddies disappeared into the night. “Asshole,” you spat as you brought your hand up to where the knife had been pressed a moment before. When you pulled your hand away there was a little bit of blood. You looked up and saw that Red Robin had the same problem. “Are yo--”
“I’m fine,” he said quickly. “Are you hurt anywhere else? Do you need anything?”
“I’m fine, nothing some hydrogen peroxide and a bandaid won’t be able to cure,” you chuckled, but he was still looking at you with concern-filled eyes. “You can walk me home if that’ll make you feel better.”
You saw some of the tension slip from his shoulders and he nodded, “I’m taking them home.”
There were questions on their faces and you wanted to introduce yourself but Red Robin was heading down the street toward an alleyway. You waved awkwardly to everyone and felt their eyes follow you as you chased after Red Robin. He was quiet when you caught up to him and discovered a bike in the alleyway. “Are you sure you should be driving that?” You asked nervously.
“I’m fine,” he said and swung his leg over the bike and motioned for you to do the same. “Where do you live?” You gave him the address and he took off through Gotham. Your arms were wrapped securely around him praying that you two made it back to your apartment in one piece.
You did and you led him to your apartment. He stepped inside and looked around, taking in your humble abode. There were a few knickknacks here and there, some books strewn throughout the place, and some of your favorite movies and TV shows stacked up beside the TV. The walls were covered with random pictures and posters of your obsessions and he noticed one that was of him and the others in their superhero garb.
“It’s not much, but it’s home,” you said a little embarrassedly. If you had known you were going to have your soulmate over you would have tried to tidy up the small messes.
“Where’s the first aid kit?” He asked, his mask still covering his eyes, he may be your soulmate but he still didn’t trust you enough with his secret.
You swallowed the sting of that and said, “Bathroom, down the hall and to the right, it’s the first door.” He disappeared and you took a seat on your couch as the events from that evening came rushing back.
You had met your soulmate, he was Red Robin, and he still hadn’t taken off his mask. Meanwhile, in your bathroom, Tim was staring at himself in the mirror. The mask still covered his face and he hesitated for a moment wondering if he should take it off. The two of you were meant to be together. He should be safe, but this was the one thing he had guarded relentlessly over the years.
Letting out a sigh he reached up and pulled it off, his blue eyes no longer hidden by the whites of the domino mask. This was him. Tim Drake.
Grabbing the medical supplies he had found under your sink he headed back out into the main portion of your apartment and found you sitting on the couch. You weren’t staring at anything in particular, you just had that far-off look in your eye that Tim sometimes got. You looked up when you heard him coming toward him and he saw your breath catch. He knew then and there that you recognized him.
“You don’t have much,” he commented lamely.
You snorted, “I have the essentials, everything else I just go to the hospital for.” He cringed and you tried to lighten the mood by saying, “So should I charge you or Batman for all my hospital visits over the years?” When he didn’t respond you said, “That was a joke, I’m just kidding.”
He looked up at you then, pain was written all over his face, “It doesn’t change the fact that you’ve been in pain because of me.”
You two fell quiet as Tim gently cleaned the small wound on your neck, it had already stopped bleeding, but Tim still put a bandaid over it just to be safe. He checked you over for any other injuries and his hands brushed over the scars that you had gotten because of him over the years. You let him check you over and when he scooted away you wanted to pull him closer.
“Tim--”
“I should go,” he stood abruptly. “I’m glad you’re safe.”
“Y/N,” you said as he headed toward the exit, his mask was back over his eyes.
He paused at the door, “What?”
“My name is Y/N,” you said again. “And please don’t leave. I’ve been waiting forever for this moment. I’ve wanted to know who you were for the longest time and now you’re in front of me and I don’t want you to go.”
You could see him trying to decide if this was the best idea or not, trying to convince himself not to stay. He was probably thinking that you were safer if he wasn’t here. Which was probably true, but you didn’t care.
He nodded and came back over to the couch. It took a while but he slowly eased up around you and the two of you talked all night long. After years of pain, you were finally learning who your soulmate was. It took him months to finally feel okay about causing you all sorts of pain, you had to constantly reassure him that it was all right. Sometimes you could catch him looking at your shared scars and you would take his hand and squeeze it.
And one year you discovered a large sum of money in your account and come to find out both Bruce and Tim paid you back for all those hospital visits.

Flowers on My Skin
Pairing: Kara Danvers x Fem!Reader
Requested: Yes (REQUESTS ARE CLOSED, this was for my 1.5K follower celebration)
Word Count: 767
Warnings:  Soulmate AU (flowers appear where one person has been injured), mention of injuries (not told in great detail), slight angst, fluff
Description: Kara's known that you were her soulmate for a while, but she was afraid to tell you the truth. Being her soulmate could be dangerous and she just wants to protect you.
Tumblr media
A new set of flowers appeared on your arms and you wondered what it was this time. Your soulmate was constantly getting injured and at this point, you were pretty sure your soulmate was one of those vigilantes that you saw in the news. Either that or they were just super danger prone.
When your soulmate was injured flower-like tattoos appeared on your skin. Some went away while others stayed. You had a set on your palm from an injury that apparently had scarred over for your soulmate.
“I don’t get it, Kara,” you told your best friend as you moved around the kitchen getting things ready for dinner. “How can one person be so accident prone?” You set a glass down in front of her and filled it with water. “I mean is your soulmate this bad?”
You didn’t notice the heat crawling up her cheeks. For some time now Kara had known that the two of you were soulmates. How to tell you was something she was still trying to figure out even though she had known for over a year now. A part of her was worried that she would ruin the friendship. Her cousin Clark thought she was being ridiculous.
“She’s your soulmate and your best friend, Kara. What’s the worst that can happen?” He had questioned her on one of their lunches after Kara had figured it out.
Kara said a number of things could go wrong. If people somehow found out that Supergirl had a soulmate and that you were said soulmate it could put you in a lot of danger. Right now it was easy to hide the flowers that bloomed on her skin whenever you were injured or where you had scars. She had been taunted about it in her fights with the villains that dared tangle with her. She just wanted to protect you.
Now she was watching you as you placed the finishing touches on the dinner the two of you were going to share together. She noticed the flowers on your palm that matched her scar. How she had managed to keep that hidden for this long she had no idea.
Truth be told, she hadn’t.
You knew that Kara was your soulmate. You had also figured out that she was Supergirl. At first, you were upset and angry that she hadn’t told you. She had to have known, you had shown her the flowers. Then you thought about it, and you thought that Kara was trying to protect you. Being a superhero wasn’t the safest job in the world.
But you were getting tired of Kara keeping you in the dark. As you slid her plate in front of her you leaned against the counter and said, “So Supergirl, were you ever going to tell me that we’re soulmates?”
The fork Kara had been holding clattered to the counter and she looked at you, “Y/N/N, what are you talking about?” There was a burst of nervous laughter that erupted from her and you arched an eyebrow. “I… I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
You stole some of the food from her plate, “I’m not an idiot, Kara.” You took the palm with the scar and flashed your own palm to her. “You got this around the same time Supergirl was injured and then the flowers appeared on my palm. Hence you being Supergirl and my soulmate.”
Kara caught her bottom lip between her teeth and considered what she was going to say next. “Are you mad?”
“I was at first,” you told her. “Then I came to the conclusion that you were just trying to protect me and it wasn’t because you were ashamed that I was your soulmate.”
“You’re right, I’m not ashamed that you’re my soulmate. In fact, I’m quite happy that my best friend is my soulmate.” She took your hands and gave them a squeeze. “I am sorry I kept it from you for so long. I wanted to tell you so many times, but I was scared of what could happen. Protecting you will always be my first priority.”
You grinned at her, “I trust that you can take care of me.” You kissed the palm of her hand where the scar was.
The two of you continued to talk about the soulmate bond over dinner and before Kara left that evening she asked you out on a proper date. You quickly agreed and were excited about it. You had been waiting for this moment since forever and you couldn’t wait for your first date with her.

Tell Me a Lie
Pairing: Dick Grayson x Gender Neutral!Reader
Requested: No (REQUESTS ARE CLOSED EXCEPT FOR THOSE ON THE PINNED POST)
Word Count: 2.2K
Warnings:  Enemies to lovers, angst with a happy ending
Description: You and Dick may be teammates but he seems to hate you. When you break up with your boyfriend you ask Dick to tell you a lie when he finds you crying on the roof. He tells you the last thing you expect to hear.
Tumblr media
Joining the Teen Titans had been one of the best days of your life. The Justice League had called you up and offered you a spot on the team. You flew into San Francisco and had a warm welcome from most of the team, but there was one who seemed less than thrilled by your presence on the team.
Robin, also known as Dick Grayson.
You tried to understand him, tried to understand why he barely tolerated your presence. When you trained together he seemed to go harder on you than any of the others. You felt like you had to work ten times harder than the others to feel like Robin would actually take you seriously.
Years passed and you grew up, the Titans still like your family, you and Dick still so at odds with one another.
You began dating a man outside of the hero life. For once you wanted something normal and something separate. You, Kori, Donna, and Garfield would spend days talking about what you would do if you weren’t a hero if you didn’t go out night after night to protect people from the villains of the world. They were your closest friends and greatest confidants.
“I think something is going on with Jack,” you told them during one lunch.
Donna swirled a fry in her ketchup and eyed you, “What do you mean? I thought things were going well! You were just about to tell him about it,” she glanced around to make sure no one was listening in. “You know what.”
You let out a long sigh as you stole a tater tot off of Garfield’s plate, your friend protesting. “I thought things were going good as well! I was going to tell him last Friday when we had that date set up, but he called and canceled at the last minute. This is the third time he’s done that this month.”
Kori pursed her lips and considered her words, “Maybe he is planning a surprise?”
“Or maybe he’s not interested anymore,” Garfield said, earning a smack from Donna. “What? I mean I wouldn’t do it to Y/N, but sometimes guys can be dicks.”
“It’s okay Donna,” you told her. “I had thought of that too, I think I should go ahead and just talk to him about the state of our relationship.”
That night you sat on the roof of Titans Tower and stared up at the sky. Planes flew by and you heard the sounds of the city below. “What’re you doing up here?” The familiar voice caused your back to straighten and you turned your head to see Dick there, his hands stuck in his pockets.
You rolled your eyes, “Came here to think. Didn’t realize there was a curfew, Dad.”
He came closer and stood beside you a few feet away, “No need for name-calling.”
“Pretty sure you’ve called me worst things,” you shot back. He stayed quiet, “That’s what I thought.” You looked at him again, your eyes narrowed, “I don’t get why you hate me so much, Dick. We had never met when I first came here, you didn’t know me. I had never done anything to you and yet I’ve had to push myself and push myself to try and prove to you that I’m worthy enough to be on this team. It’s been six years, Dick.” He didn’t say anything, he just kept his hands in his pockets and his eyes forward. “Whatever,” you hissed and stood, storming away from him.
What you didn’t realize was Dick turned and watched you go.
Donna shoved Dick the next day in the hall, into a room that was currently unoccupied. “What the hell, Dick?! Still, after all this time you give them shit!”
“I don’t need any more friends, Donna,” Dick said. “I have enough.”
She shook her head, “Stop acting so stone-cold, Dick. You can’t shut everyone out. We lost Wally years ago. He knew the risks and we knew them too, but that doesn’t mean you push away new people because you’re afraid of losing them too.”
“Wally isn’t the only person I’ve lost,” Dick fired back. “I lost Jason too, granted he came back, but then let’s not forget about Damian.”
Donna ran a hand through her hair, “I know losing them hurt, and I’m not saying you can’t mourn them. But that doesn’t give you the right to be an asshole to others.” With that, she walked away from him.
You called Jack and asked him to meet up with you to which he agreed to. You smiled when you saw him, hoping that your intuition was just messing with you. That everything was fine. Jack offered you a piece of normalcy that you didn’t get with the others. Jack wasn’t a part of this life and when you were with him, you weren’t a hero, you were just you.
As he got closer you noticed that he wasn’t smiling and you felt your own melt away, “Jack, hey is everything okay?” You asked when he got closer, you went to take his hand but he flinched away from you. “Jack?”
“I can’t do this anymore, Y/N,” he said. “Listen it’s been great but you’ve been keeping things from me and I just can’t keep doing this.” You opened your mouth to say something to tell him that you wanted to explain what it was that you had been keeping from him. “I just think it’s better if we part ways now.”
“Jack--”
“Goodbye, Y/N,” he said before turning and heading away from you.
That same evening you once again found yourself on the roof of Titans Tower. Tears were rolling down your cheeks. You swiped at them with the back of your hand. The door to the roof opened and you prayed that it was anyone other than Dick, but it seemed like the universe had a sick sense of humor.
“I’m not in the mood for any of your quips Grayson, so if you have anything you wish to say then keep it to yourself,” you said as you turned to face the ocean again. The moon was high in the sky and reflecting off the surface.
Dick sat on the bench beside you, far enough away that he wasn’t anywhere near touching you, but still, he chose to sit close. “Donna told me what happened, I didn’t come here to be an asshole.”
You eyed him skeptically, “What?”
He shrugged, “Seems like too much of an asshole thing to kick you when you’re down.”
You snorted and rested your chin on your knees, “You know what’s funny?” He didn’t respond knowing you were going to tell him. “He said that I was keeping things from him and that he couldn’t keep doing this. I was going to tell him, I would have told him if he hadn’t kept canceling dates on me.”
“It’s not easy dating outside of this lifestyle,” he told you. “Trust me, I’ve had people dump me because they thought I was cheating on them. You want to tell them, but you don’t know if you can trust them with this other part of you, and if you wait too long then they’ll think you’re seeing someone behind their backs and leave.”
You didn’t comment right away, you just kept your eyes forward, more tears streaming down your face as you realized once again that your relationship was over with Jack. “Tell me a lie,” Dick heard how your voice cracked.
“I hate you,” his voice was soft.
“Ha, ha Dick,” you started saying. “I said to tell me a lie--” You trailed off and looked over at him, your breath caught in your throat. He was looking at you with a vulnerable look in his eyes, “That’s not funny, Dick.”
“You told me to tell you a lie,” he said calmly. “So I did.”
You stood and began pacing, “Then why have you treated me like I’m your least favorite person in the entire world?! We’ve known each other for six years, Dick and in that entire time not once have you shown any sort of interest in me as anything other than someone you are forced to work with. So tell me why now are you telling me that you actually don’t despise the thought of me?”
He rubbed the back of his neck and said, “I’ve never actually hated you, Y/N. When you joined the team Wally had just died. I wasn’t ready to let new people in, but it seemed like only after a couple of months they were already replacing him with you. Then Jason died and then so did Damian. I just kept losing people I considered family and loved. It’s not easy this life, I don’t like keeping you at arm's length, but I was afraid that if I let anyone else in then I would lose them too.”
You let his words sink in, “That’s not fair, Dick. To me or to yourself. People die, especially in our line of work. I’ve lost people too, people I was close to. That hasn’t stopped me from letting others in. You can’t just push people away because you’re afraid they might die. Newsflash they are, it’s just a fact of life.”
“I know!” He stood and turned to face you, so many emotions swirling in his beautiful blue eyes. “I know that, Y/N. And I know that it wasn’t far to shut you out and never tell you why, but I’m tired of trying to fight how I feel for you. Because despite the fact that I tried to push you away you managed to find a way into my heart. I was a huge ass to you and yet you still treated me as a team member and always had my back. You took care of me that one time I was injured and on bedrest. Donna told me that she offered to take your shifts, but you wouldn’t let her. Why? I was horrible to you back then.”
“Because we’re a team!” You shouted. “Because despite the fact that you seemed to hate my guts I wanted to be there for you and make sure you were all right! And maybe because I had a crush on you too.” You wrapped your arms protectively around you, “I can’t do this right now, I… I need some time.”
Then you turned and fled the roof, leaving Dick there cursing himself for upsetting you further.
The next morning you found out that Dick had been called back to Gotham. You wondered if he had left because he wanted to give you space or if he really had been called back for whatever reason. You weren’t sure if you were relieved or sad by the news. You had wanted the space, but you hadn’t meant to chase him away.
Donna noticed but you told her not to worry about it, you weren’t ready to talk about it.
Months passed and you were up on the roof again thinking things over. You hadn’t started dating anyone since Jack, and you were still caught up on how Dick was doing to be able to commit to someone. You leaned your head back and blew out a breath.
“Is this seat taken?” You slowly looked toward the sound and saw Dick standing there with a sheepish look on his face.
“No, go ahead,” you scooted over a bit to give him more room. “So you’re back,” it wasn’t a question.
“Yep, I arrived an hour ago.” He rested his elbows on his legs and said, “How’ve you been?”
“Really?” You arched an eyebrow at him. “That’s what you’re going to go with?”
“I’m sorry I just… I wasn’t sure what I should say. I mean we didn’t leave things on the best of terms, Y/N,” he said. “And then Bruce calls me back that very night, and I just don’t want you to think that I ran away because I didn’t want to deal with the blowback from our conversation.”
You chewed on your lip for a moment considering your words, “I did think you ran away.”
“See! That’s why I didn’t know how to start this conversation,” Dick turned to face you. “And I am sorry for everything, I didn’t get to say it last time. But I am, I’m so sorry for everything.” His fingers brushed against yours, “Can we start over?”
You tapped a finger against your chin, “I don’t know I’m going to need some major convincing. You can start by buying me lunch tomorrow.”
“Deal,” he smiled at you and you felt butterflies in your stomach.
It took you and Dick some time to find your footing with one another, but the both of you agreed to take things slow. After several months together you and Dick became official. The team was happy for the two of you and glad that the animosity and bad blood had been done away with. Donna even threatened Dick and told him not to hurt you or else. He had paled a little bit, not wanting to get on her bad side.
But two years later the two of you were still happy together.

Broken Trust
Pairing: Tim Drake x Gender Neutral!Vigilante!Reader
Requested: Yes (REQUESTS ARE CLOSED, this was for my 1.5K follower celebration)
Word Count: 3.2K
Warnings:  Angst with a happy ending, secret romance
Description: You and Red Robin start a secret relationship, but one night he ends it and you're left wondering why. That's when you learn the truth about who he is.
Tumblr media
Mama always told me
That I was too naive
Gave away my trust for pennies
I said 'Don't you worry'
Didn't think that I'd be
Broken down and crying
'Help me'
The air was crisp as summer was beginning to turn into fall in Gotham City. The sweltering days were being put behind you and sweater weather was here. You watched as red, orange, and golden leaves blew past you on the street and smiled. It was a beautiful moment, simple and understated.
Though your mind was on other things as you thought about how you had to get home to prepare for your nighttime activities. Butterflies filled your stomach as you thought about seeing him again.
Red Robin.
The two of you had been flirtatious since you had arrived in Gotham. You hadn’t expected to fall in love with a masked vigilante, but you made the most of it. Gotham was a fresh start for you and a little rendezvous with someone in the same field as you didn’t seem like a bad idea at the time.
You had really begun to trust him. Maybe even enough to tell him who you truly were. You were ready to take that leap of faith, but when you had called him for help he hadn’t come to help you. Because of that, you hadn’t been able to save everyone that Scarecrow had infected with his fear toxin.
The fights had started then and he told you that he couldn’t always be there to help you out. That he had more important things to do. “More important than saving innocent lives from this city’s maniacs?!” You had yelled at him up on the top of the roof where the two of you had often met.
“I can’t be in two places at once, Sparrow! I have responsibilities too!”
“I needed you tonight, Red,” you said, your voice breaking. “I needed you and you weren’t there.”
He looked away from you, “And I’m sorry I couldn’t be there. I’m sorry you had to witness that, but unfortunately, that’s going to happen from time to time.” He began backing away from you, “Maybe it’s best if we cool off for a bit.”
“Are you breaking up with me?”
“If that’s the way you want to see it then yes. This is us breaking up,” he told you before he was gone, leaving you feeling a little lost and alone.
Wrecked? Check
Heart? In debt
All you do is come around
Just came here to collect
Wrecked? Check
Heart? In debt
Don't you know that
I cried tears of gold for you
I sit here poor for you
Collect my pennies and my dimes
That's why you love it when I cry
You wanted to forget about Red Robin, but it was hard when everyone was always talking about him and the others. “Red Robin Saves the Day!” “Red Robin Swoops in and Saves Family of Three!” “Red Robin and Nightwing Take Down Joker and Co.” You wanted to shred every newspaper and magazine you came across into pieces when you saw his name gracing the front cover.
No more vigilantes.
That was the deal you had made with yourself. No more superheroes who would break up with you when the going got tough.
You hated crying over someone that you barely even knew. You and Red Robin had never shared names or details, you should have realized it was doomed to fail. Red was never going to trust you enough to let you in and after he left you to fend for yourself there wasn’t any way that you could trust him.
You were supposed to be partners, even if it was unofficially, but his priorities lied in other places. His would always be with his family and yours would be to those in need. The thought made you want to break down into tears again, the pain in your heart was not assuaged by your placating thoughts.
You’ll be fine. It’s okay. He wasn’t the one. Constantly replayed on a loop in your mind. But even they only did so much to help how much you were hurting.
In the late hours of the evening, you would sit either on the edge of the rooftops overlooking the city or on your couch and remember the times you had together. How he would pull you close and whisper something sweet in your ear before kissing you as if it were the last time.
Your traitorous heart wanted him back and you wondered if he were feeling the same way as you.
Platinum love for you
I'd give no less for you
Generosity's my enemy
So I'm broke and
Your heart's rich because of me
Know that this is my fault
Gave a little too much
Knew that this was gonna happen
But I'm not gonna lie
You can make me cry, thousand times
I come running back like
'What is going on with my head?'
“What’s gotten into Tim?” Dick asked as he entered the cave to prepare for his night on patrol. The man in question was brooding over the computers while the others watched him out of the corners of their eyes.
Jason shrugged as he checked his guns and made sure everything was in tip-top shape. “He’s been like that for the past week. Hasn’t said anything about what’s eating at him and I’m not going to ask. That’s his business and when he’s ready he’ll come to one of us.”
Tim was checking for any signs of Sparrow on the scanners or in the news. The papers had been radio silent as if people had just forgotten that you existed. He wanted to let out a frustrated scream.
Why hadn’t he been there that night?
Why hadn’t he gone when you had called?
Why had he said those things to you?
It was all his fault that he had pushed you away. The two of you were getting too close, no one knew about the two of you, and soon he would have to come clean to you and his family. He would have to tell you he was Tim Drake and that his family were the Waynes and you would figure out the secret. A part of him was being selfish, he didn’t want his family to know about you. They were chaotic at the best of times and dysfunctional more often than not. Would you go running if you knew just how messed up his family was?
It was better that they end things now before either of you grew too attached to the other.
But that was a lie.
Because Tim was pretty sure he was in love with you, and he had ruined it.
Shoving himself away from the desk he said, “I’m not going out tonight. I need to think and get some work done. Don’t die.”
Jason and Dick shared a look with one another before watching Tim head for the entrance of the cave.
Wrecked? Check
Heart? In debt
All you do is come around
Just came here to collect
Wrecked? Check
Heart? In debt
Don't you know that
I cried tears of gold for you
I sit here poor for you
Collect my pennies and my dimes
That's why you love it when I cry
Platinum love for you
I'd give no less for you

So I'm broke and

The late-night coffee shop was quiet when you stepped through the doors. The familiar smell of coffee relaxing you as you went to order your usual. You didn’t want to be in your apartment with only your thoughts to keep you company. So you had grabbed a book and headed here to find solace amongst the other late-night patrons.
It wasn’t busy when you entered, most people didn’t like to come out late in Gotham, and you couldn’t blame them. It wasn’t the safest city in the world, but being a vigilante yourself you didn’t worry too much about the people that lurked in the dark.
The barista greeted you warmly and fulfilled your order and you found a seat at the back of the shop where you could keep an eye on the door and anyone that entered and left. Back to the wall you made yourself comfortable and cracked open the book and began to read. You had made it not that far in when someone sat down on the bench several feet away and sighed.
You glanced at him and there was something familiar about him and then you realized that it was Tim Drake. You wondered what had him seeming so out of sorts and debated on if you should say something to him. Would he snap at you?
Sighing, you lean a bit closer and ask, “Everything all right?”
The man looked towards you and then said, “It’s been a long week.” Tim wasn’t usually one to open up to strangers, but it was late and he needed to get his feelings off his chest. “I broke up with my significant other a week ago and I regret it. I did it because… well we weren’t technically telling anyone and I panicked. When a problem presented itself instead of working it out I ran. We were getting serious and I wasn’t really ready to expose a new side of me for many, many reasons.”
You listened quietly thinking about your own situation. You could sympathize with this significant other seeing as how you had been dumped by your own boyfriend earlier in the week. But you could also sympathize with Tim because you could sympathize with not wanting to expose certain aspects of your life. Showing Red Robin who you truly were scared you because that made everything more real.
“I get it, vulnerability can be hard, and if you’re not ready to open up and you don’t know how your partner will react it seems like a good idea. But communication is better than deciding something rash at the moment.”
He considered your words and then said, “I don’t even know if I could talk to them again. I’m pretty sure they want nothing to do with me now.”
“It never hurts to try,” you offered softly.
He nodded and then groaned when his phone began to buzz. He glanced at it and said, “I need to go, but thank you for listening to me.”
“You’re welcome,” you offered him a smile before he slipped out of the shop leaving you to go back to your book.
And the worst part is I'd do it all over again
No, the worst part is, I know it's never gonna end
I keep coming right back like a maniac
I keep coming right back like
Oh, oh
And the worst part is I'd do it all over again
No, the worst part is I know it's never gonna end
I keep coming right back like a maniac
The dark roof was a perfect vantage point for you to peer down at the city. All was quiet which was offsetting, but it meant that you could go home early. You were getting ready to call it a night when you heard, “Sparrow.”
“Red,” you didn’t turn to look at him. You didn’t want to.
“Can we talk?” He moved closer to you and you could now see him out of the corner of your eye. “I need to explain about the last time we spoke.”
You scoffed, “Why on earth would I want to talk about that?” You turned to face him, your anger growing. “You made it seem like I was asking for too much when all I wanted to know was why you weren’t there. You could have said, I wasn’t on patrol when this went down. I was busy taking care of my own situation. Did you think that I would yell at you for not being there because you had other more pressing issues?”
He cringed and you turned your attention back to the city, “I was scared.”
You clenched your jaw for a moment before managing to ground out, “What could you possibly have been scared of, Red?”
“I was scared of where we were going with our relationship,” he admitted. “This sounds crazy but I met someone at a coffee shop the other night who listened to me ramble about this problem. I told them that I didn’t think you’d ever want to talk to me again or want me to explain why I said and did what I did. They told me that it didn’t hurt to try.”
Your heart stopped for a moment, those were the words that you had told Tim Drake in the coffee shop when he had told you what he had done. You were the one that told him he would never know unless he tried. It could all be a coincidence, but that would be one very big coincidence.
You slowly looked back at him and said, “Tim?”
That caused him to freeze and look like a deer caught in the headlights. “How--” Then, “Are you my coffee shop mystery person?”
You reached up and removed your mask and when he saw your face he did the same. Then you began laughing, “Oh how’s this for irony!”
“Sparrow,” he said softly. He still didn’t know your name, only your face. “I’m not asking for forgiveness, I mean I am, but I will understand if you can’t give it to me. I just wanted to explain my side of things.” You didn’t say anything so he took that as a sign to continue. “Robin had been captured and the rest of us were trying to save him. I didn’t even realize that you needed my help, but when I got your messages I panicked. I had been panicking for a while. My family was starting to wonder where I went on my patrols, they were asking if I had met someone. I love them, but they’re chaos incarnate. I liked us as we are. But that led to another thought, what happened when we revealed who we truly were to the other?
“I’m a public figure, my family is public figures. I’ve never shared this side of myself with anyone else and I didn’t know how the others would feel. I was hoping to ease them into the idea, but a selfish part of me wanted to stay in this bubble we had created for ourselves. So that night when you called and I didn’t come for help I saw my out.”
“Tim, you could have just talked to me like an adult!” You said in exasperation, you felt like throwing up your hands as well, but kept them crossed. “You could have explained that our little love affair had some more complicated steps if we wished to move forward. That’s what adults do, they communicate.”
He grinned at you and you hated how your heart skipped a beat at the sight of it, “You told me that that night in the coffee shop. And I realized that you were right, I let fear get the better of me. I let insecurities control my actions and I am sorry for how I handled the situation, Sparrow.”
You believed him, you hated how he handled the situation, but like that night in the coffee shop, you understood. “Maybe we should start over?” You suggested.
He nodded, “I like that idea a lot.” He held his hand out to you and said, “Hi, I’m Tim Drake.”
You took his hand, it was warm and rough against yours, “Y/N Y/L/N.”
The two of you smiled at one another and Tim then asked, “Would you like to get dinner with me sometime?”
“I’d love to,” you told him before pulling him in close for a kiss.
I cried tears of gold for you
I sit here poor for you
Collect my pennies and my dimes
That's why you love it when I cry
Platinum love for you
I'd give no less for you
Generosity's my enemy
So I'm broke and
Your heart's rich because of me
Tim’s hand tightened around yours as the two of you climbed the steps of the manor. You knew he was nervous about this, about introducing himself to this side of you. One of the Waynes, Red Robin had been one of the Waynes. And now you were standing on their doorstep with Tim’s hand wrapped tightly around yours.
“It’ll be okay, Tim,” you whispered as you squeezed his hand back. “They can’t scare me off so easily. I have dealt with worse here in Gotham.”
That got him to chuckle and you considered it a victory, “That is true, but I still worry about how they’ll react around you. Bruce is notoriously private and now you know the best-kept secret in Gotham. He might give you the cold shoulder.”
“Then that’s his issue, not mine,” you calmly placated. “Now stop stalling and open the door.”
He took in a deep breath and pushed the grand front door open revealing an immaculate entryway. You could already hear the voices of the others laughing and talking together. And the first person you saw was Alfred, coming toward the two of you with a smile on his face.
Everything happened in a blur, Alfred greeted you warmly as if you were a member of the family already and took your jacket from you. He then told the two of you where the others were and began leading you down the hallway to an open family room.
You would like to think that his family would greet you one by one, but they all descended on you like a pack of over-excited puppies. Dick made it to you before everyone else, shaking your hand and telling you how excited they all were to hear that Tim had finally found himself someone he cared about. That got a complaint from Tim, but Dick didn’t seem to care about embarrassing his younger brother. He was the eldest, that was his job.
Next came Jason who was quiet and more reserved than the eldest. He greeted you and then told you to run before it was too late. Tim shoved him out of the way and gave you a helpless look which only made you laugh. Cassandra and Stephanie approached you together, saying how happy they were to meet you. Stephanie and Cassandra told you that they already knew about you and Tim, but knew how to keep a better secret than the boys. Duke was next, he was sweet, giving you a hug and welcoming you into their chaotic mess.
You also met Kate, Barbara, and Damian Wayne before the man himself was before you. Bruce stood before, imposing and unsmiling. Tim had assured you that smiles were rare with Bruce so it wasn’t you. “A pleasure to finally meet you, Y/N,” he said, his voice surprisingly warm.
“You too, Mr. Wayne,” you responded, hoping your voice wasn’t shaky as you spoke.
Tensions seemed to go down as everyone had been watching with bated breath, “Shall we eat?” He asked before ushering you toward the dining room.
The rest of the evening passed without incident and you all even had a spirited game of Monopoly which Damian won. Tim kept an arm around you the entire evening and you leaned into his embrace, enjoying this new side you were getting to see of him.

Things That Go Bump in the Night Part Two (Final)
Genre: Paranormal/Supernatural AU
Pairing: Jason Todd x Fem!Reader (more of a background relationship in this one since I focus on other members of the BatFam)
Requested: Yes @im–multi–fandom–trash (This was a sequel to a story they had requested for my 1.5K celebration. My request, all except the ones in the pinned post, are closed.)
Word Count: 2.5K
Warnings: Swearing
Description: Mystic's is back and the rest of the BatFam are going to see what's so scary about it.
Tumblr media
After the night's events, the four of you decided that none of you had won the money. It didn’t seem fair when all of you has freaked out around the same time. You found the twenty-four hour market, their candy already fifty percent off, and headed back to the manor.
No one else was up when you walked inside and to be honest you all were thankful for that. You weren’t sure you were ready to hear the teasing or have them ask you questions. Damian was definitely going to make fun of you for chickening out the way you all had. Tim might make a few jokes as well as the girls. Bruce probably wouldn’t partake in the teasing, but he might let out a chuckle here and there. Alfred was a wild card, he would either be on your side or he would join in on the teasing as well.
Several Disney movies later and the four of you were sufficiently filled with candy and tired after the events and headed off to bed.
Sometime later Jason woke up from a nightmare. He was back in the house and this time there was no escape. He just kept getting chased by that damn werewolf. But then he saw you, Dick, and Kori all trapped in a room together, more than one werewolf closing in on you all. When you had spotted Jason, you cried out for his help, but he had been unable to reach you.
He had sat up in bed and looked down to see you sleeping peacefully beside him. Letting out a breath he slid from the bed to go watch more Disney films until he could see the sun rising.
Dick was the first one awake and grunted at Jason on his way to the kitchen to get coffee. He returned with two mugs and passed one to Jason, “Couldn’t sleep after all, huh?”
Jason scrubbed his face with his free hand, “I just kept seeing that damn house. I still don’t get what that was.”
“Listen, I’m just trying not to think about it, period,” Dick told him as he picked up the remote and switched on Phineas and Ferb. “That place doesn’t exist in my mind.”
You and Kori came down at the same time and gave Dick and Jason tired smiles. You kissed Jason’s cheek, “What happened to you?”
“Couldn’t sleep,” he said as he pulled you into his arms. “Sorry about leaving you all alone up there.”
You shrugged, “I didn’t know until this morning so you’re fine.”
Slowly the family trickled in and Tim had to be the one that asked, “How was the haunted house?”
The four of you stiffened and Jason pointed a finger at Tim and said, “We don’t ever speak about what happened. Haunted House? We don’t know her.”
The others gave each other looks that clearly said, “What the fuck happened to them?”
Dick spoke next, “Listen some shit went down last night.”
You then said, “And needless to say we aren’t ever going back there.” Then you added, “Not like we could anyway since the place vanished on us.”
The others asked more questions, but the four of you refused to say any more about the topic. As expected teasing ensued, but you didn’t care. They could tease all they wanted, they didn’t know what manner of horrors you all had faced the night before.
The following year you had almost forgotten about the haunted house and were preparing for a night in with Jason, Dick, and Kori. The manor had been decorated to the nines and the four of you had a lineup of horror movies to watch and an array of snacks as well. It was going to be a perfect evening.
You were taking a break from the movies to prepare some dinner before the next movie when Tim, Damian, Cassandra, Stephanie, and Duke entered the kitchen looking like they were ready to go out. You arched a brow, “Where are you all going?”
“To that haunted house you all went to last year,” Damian said with a smirk.
The kitchen went deadly silent and everyone turned to look at the group of brave souls that dared enter that house of horrors. “I wouldn’t,” Dick said.
“Dick is right,” Kori had a worried look on her face. “That place is not safe.”
Duke just grinned, “Aw come on guys, we’ll be fine. I think you all are just playing it up for our sakes.”
Jason shook his head, “I’ve seen some shit man. I’ve died. That didn’t scare me nearly as much as this place did. Just trust us and stay the hell away from there.”
“We’re going,” Cassandra announced. “We’ll be back in a little bit.”
The door to the garage closed behind them and Jason snorted, “Their funeral.”
In the car Stephanie spoke up, “Are we really sure that they’re just messing with us? They all seemed legitimately scared of this place.”
Tim shook his head, one hand on the steering wheel as he followed the GPS’s directions, “I think they’re just full of it. We’re all vigilantes, what could this place possibly have that would scare them?”
The others were in agreement and after twenty minutes they arrived at their destination. The house, just like last year, looked like something out of a Scooby-Doo episode. Even a flash of lightning appeared as if trying to warn them to turn back now. As they piled out of the car they saw the ticket booth with the name MYSTIC’S written in fancy loops that resembled smoke above a small white-haired man.
He smiled as they approached, “Welcome! Here for the haunted house?”
“Yeah,” Duke smiled at the man, excitement welling up inside of him. He was ready to prove that you, Jason, Dick, and Kori were just a bunch of scaredy cats. “Five tickets please.”
Mystic handed over the tickets as each of them handed over the money. “Enjoy,” Mystic told them and then watched them climb the little hill toward the porch. “Hehe, this is going to be even better than last year!”
As the group made their way up the rickety old steps the door slowly swung open. The inside of the house was mostly dark, only illuminated by a few candles. Pausing on the steps they looked at one another like “who’s going in first?”. Damian, growing impatient, stepped over the threshold and the others followed suit. It looked like your typical haunted house on the inside, cobwebs in the corner, creaky floorboards, and a chill in the air.
“This is what they were afraid of?” Damian scoffed. “I’ve seen worse places than this.” Behind them the door slammed shut, rattling the pictures on the walls and causing them all to jump. Cassandra and Stephanie looked at one another and then moved closer together. Duke and Tim were trying not to breathe and Damian rolled his eyes. “A cheap scare,” he wasn’t impressed.
“Cheap you say?” A deep voice boomed. “Little boy these are no cheap tricks,” the laugh reminded them of Vincent Price’s from Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
Windows and doors started to bang open and shut and a deep growl had them looking toward one of the doors that was flinging itself open and closed. There in the darkness, they saw glowing red eyes and then a howl that sent shivers down all their backs, and goosebumps formed on their bodies. “Run!” Tim shouted, shoving the others forward.
They could hear the werewolf behind them, its nails digging into the hardwood floors and sending them skidding as they turned down a hall trying to get away. The paintings on either side of them seemed to come alive, laughing and stretching their arms out trying to grab them. “I’m starting to think that the others were exaggerating!” Duke shouted as he threw himself into a closed-door until it gave under his weight and opened.
The girls dashed through first followed by Damian and Tim, Duke taking up the rear this time and he flung tables in the werewolf’s way. They were approaching an open doorway and about to dash through it when a ghost appeared and let out a blood-curdling scream to which Stephanie shouted, “FUCK THIS SHIT!”
It would have been funnier if they hadn’t all been so terrified.
As soon as the ghost was gone they dashed through the doorway and slammed the door right before the werewolf crashed into it. They stood there for a moment trying to catch their breath. Duke pointed a finger at Damian, “You just had to provoke it didn’t you?”
“I didn’t know that the house was going to start going crazy on us!” Damian shouted at him. “This is way more than we bargained for.”
Cassandra shook her head, “Let’s just get out before that werewolf finds another way to us.”
There were a few more scares and they heard the werewolf stalking them, but they managed to find the exit and quickly shoved one another through it. When they were free it was a mad dash back to their car. But when they got inside and looked back toward the house and where Mystic had been everything was gone.
“No way,” Tim said as he studied the area. “There has to be an explanation for this.”
“I don’t care if there is or not,” Duke told him. “Just get us the hell out of here.”
They drove back to the manor, all of them silent and shaking with adrenaline. When they stepped inside they found that everyone was still awake and waiting for them. Jason took one look at their faces and knew that they had been through it. “Mmhmm, we told you didn’t we?” You, Kori, and Dick couldn’t find it in you to tease them back because you knew what they had been through.
“We don’t want to talk about it,” Duke said as he threw himself into a chair and covered his eyes with his arm.
Damian came over and curled up beside you, “Can we watch something happy?”
You wrapped your arms around him and said, “Sure kid.” Then you turned on a random comedy and spent the rest of the night there.
The night before Halloween and all through the manor not a creature was stirring except Batman and Alfred. “Alfred, do you really believe the kids were at an actual haunted house?” Bruce turned to him as he asked the question.
Alfred paused, “I don’t know sir, they seem awfully convinced that they were. I can’t see Master Damian acting like that if he didn’t actually believe that that house is haunted.”
“Should we go?” Bruce thought that maybe it was a trick of some kind. “I just need to see for myself.”
“I don’t see why not, Master Bruce.”
The following year it was much the same. You all decided to stay at the manor and have a horror movie marathon. No one brought up Mystic’s and no one suggested that they go and do it again. Duke, Cassandra, Tim, Stephanie, and Damian all still seemed to be a little shell shocked by their experiences, but were determined not to let it ruin their Halloween. Over the course of the year, you all had managed to get out of them bits and pieces of what had happened in that house, and from what you, Jason, Dick, and Kori had gathered it was a lot worse than your own visit.
It was nearly time for Bruce and Alfred to leave. They could hear the others watching the horror movies in the living room, the sound was faint, but there was a scream followed by laughter. Bruce couldn’t like he was curious about Mystic’s Haunted House and had to see it for himself. Alfred was also quite curious.
Bruce looked at the clock and saw that it was time to go and said, “Alfred, let’s take a trip.”
“Very well, sir,” he sat what he was doing down and the two of them left without informing the others.
The drive there was quick and the two men stepped out of the car and headed toward the ticket booth. Mystic was there waiting, “Welcome! Welcome! Here for the haunted house?”
“Yes,” Bruce passed over some money. “We’ve heard good things about this place.”
“Excellent! I do have the best haunted house in Gotham,” Mythic boasted. “Head on in and try not to die of fright.”
Just like the previous two years the door swung open and shut by itself and Bruce and Alfred merely looked unimpressed. When the werewolf appeared neither man ran from it which seemed to confuse the creature. Bruce simply looked at it and said, “Please, I’ve seen worse than you.”
They left the werewolf behind and traveled through the rest of the house. They didn’t jump at the screaming banshee. Didn’t blanche at the spooky voice. The hands reaching out of the paintings did nothing. “This is rather… tame, sir,” Alfred said as they entered a room covered in spider webs.
“I gotta say I’m a little disappointed,” Bruce responded, a smirk on his face.
When they found the exit Mystic was standing there just gaping at them, “How?!”
“I’ve taken care of children, nothing you do can scare me,” Alfred calmly responded.
Bruce snorted, “If you knew what I had to deal with on the daily then you wouldn’t be scared either. My son’s grandfather is literally called the Demon. You think your little wolfman can scare me?” Bruce shakes his head, “You are dead wrong.” They went to leave and Bruce paused and said, “Oh and one more thing,” before decking Mystic in the face. “I don’t want to hear about you being back next year, do you understand me? I won’t be so pleasant the next time around.”
Mystic was holding his nose and nodding, too afraid to say anything else as Bruce and Alfred got back in their car and drove off. When they arrived back at the manor they were instantly surrounded.
“Where did you go?” You asked. “Did you go to Mystic’s?”
The color seemed to drain out of everyone’s face as the two older men nodded. “Were you scared?” Cassandra questioned.
“Terrifying truly, nearly gave me a heart attack,” the lie rolled off of Alfred’s tongue. He didn’t want to make any of them feel bad for having been scared.
Bruce nods, “That werewolf nearly got us.”
Jason would narrow his eyes, “You’re lying.”
The rest of you demanded to know how they weren’t scared. And Bruce merely shrugged, “I have kids.” And walked away.
The following year Jason went back to the location where Mystic’s usually was and discovered that it was empty. There was no house. No ticket booth. No Mystic. Jason had gone alone, he hadn’t had plans of going in the house by himself. No amount of money in the world could have gotten him to go in again, but he had to see it for himself.
Plus he wanted to deck Mystic in the face.
When he discovered the house wasn’t there anymore he went back to the manor and found Bruce. “Hey, Bruce what’d you do to that guy Mystic?” Jason asked as soon as he found Bruce.
Bruce merely sipped on his coffee, “Oh is it not back in town this year?”
“No,” Jason said slowly, dragging out the syllables.
Bruce started to walk away, “Shame.”
Jason never did get that answer.

Mischief and Mayhem
Pairing: Dick Grayson x Gender Neutral!Talon!Reader
Requested: Yes (REQUESTS ARE CLOSED, this was for my 1.5K follower celebration)
Word Count: 1.4K
Warnings:  Enemies to Lovers, Angst, fade to black (slight NSFW)
Description: You love taunting Nightwing, but at some point, your loneliness calls out for a companion and you find yourself longing for a certain vigilante.
A/N: Can be read as a prequel to Kill Me
Tumblr media
Something was different about this evening, Dick thought as he moved across the rooftops looking for any signs of trouble. He had been doing this long enough that he could almost sense when something was about to happen. The others always hated it when he used his “sixth sense” to predict how the evening was going to go. The one thing Dick did not see coming was coming face to face with a Talon.
You stood there staring at the vigilante before you. His moniker was Nightwing and you knew he was the first Robin that Batman had ever had. He couldn’t see your face, but that didn’t stop you from grinning at him, “Well isn’t this an unexpected surprise.”
Dick held his escrima sticks in front of him, he had had run-ins with Talons before, but you seemed to be new. “What’s the Court up to now? Killing more people that should be tried for their crimes?”
You tsked and then said, “Come now, Nightwing. Look me dead in the face and tell me that you don’t think some of these people don’t deserve to die rather than wind up in Blackgate or Arkham. You see the worst of humanity night after night and still think that some of these people deserve to be rehabilitated in a prison system?”
“It’s not my job to play judge, jury, and executioner,” he growled.
“Then I’ll play the role for you, hero,” you said before you disappeared into the night.
Dick spent the next few nights looking for you, but unless a Talon wanted to be found there was no way he was going to locate you.
He was in an alleyway when he heard, “Nightwing, there’s a Talon not far from your location. Make sure they’re not causing trouble.”
“On it, Oracle,” he responded before following the directions that Barbara had sent him.
There he found you lounging against a wall, a domino mask the only covering on your face tonight. “Took you long enough, hero,” you casually looked up from where you had been inspecting one of your knives and grinned.
“What are you doing here, Talon?”
You could see his guard was up and you wanted to have some fun with him. “Causing mischief and mayhem, Nightwing. Making sure the city is safe while most of its inhabitants are asleep in their beds.”
His eyes narrowed, “I think you’re making it more dangerous by being here.”
You sauntered closer to him and ran a finger over the blue bird on his chest, “We’re doing the same job, Nightwing. You’re just taking a high road that I don’t have the patience to venture down.” Your eyes drifted up to his, “Just admit that you’re jealous of me.”
He sneered at you, “I’m not.”
You let out a chuckle, “Deny all you want, hero. Let me know when you want a taste of freedom from the big, bad Bat.” Then you were disappearing into the darkness of Gotham leaving Dick staring after you.
Two nights later he went looking for you again and again and again. He didn’t know what it was about you that drew him in. The way you taunted and teased. The way you seemed to be so unapologetically you. You didn’t apologize for doing what you thought you were right. Dick may not agree with your methods, but you had a code and morals. Not that he would ever tell Bruce that he thought this.
Then you led him to a safe haven, a place you had away from the prying eyes of the Court. A place you called your own. “I come here for solitude and quiet,” you admitted softly as you took off your weapons. One by one the knives you had strapped meticulously to you were dropped on the hardwood. Your footfalls were near silent as you padded your way over toward a loan couch.
There wasn’t much in the loft, but it was cozy and warm, and much better than the storm the two of you had been caught up in outside. This was an offering Dick realized. You were letting him in and showing him another side to you.
Dick wondered if there would come a day when the Court would order you to kill him and this tentative… whatever this was, would come to an end.
You groaned as you pulled your boots off your aching feet and fell back against the cushions. Dick followed you and sat at the other end as far from you as he could go. “You know whatever we have going is going to have to end at some point, right?”
You looked at him, both of your masks still securely hiding your eyes. The two of you may have built up some trust, but not that much. “Are you always this pessimistic?”
He frowned, “I’m being realistic, Talon.”
“No you’re being a downer, hero,” you said with a frown. “Why can’t we just enjoy what we have?”
“Because despite whatever friendship we have we’re still on opposite sides,” he snapped.
You blew out a breath and sat up, glaring at him, “For once would you get off your high horse!”
“Well, would you get your head out of the clouds?!”
The two of you were inching closer, almost nose to nose. “Admit it, you’re just jealous because I don’t have to hold back but you do.”
“Why don’t you admit to not liking being a Talon,” he fired back.
That cut deep. Truth be told there were times you didn’t like being a Talon. Didn’t like the endless killing that the Court called you to do. How he had seen through you to that part you would never know. “They gave me a home,” your voice was quiet and you backed away from him. “No one wanted me and they took me in.”
He watched as you got up from the couch and strode over to a wall of pictures. They were all of the city, some taken at night, others during the day. Some of happy families and others of gritty alleyways. The contrast showed the two sides of Gotham, the good and the ugly. He got off the couch and walked over to you, standing directly behind you, “Talon--”
“I don’t want to hear it, Nightwing, not tonight,” you snapped.
He turned you around and not for the first time he wished he could see the color of your eyes. His gloved fingers brushed against your cheek, just below the mask. “Why am I here, Talon? Why am I in your life?”
It was a good question. Why was he in your life? “I don’t know,” you answered truthfully. “At first it was just fun to push your buttons, but now… I like having a friend no matter how weird or unconventional we may be, it’s nice having someone outside of the Court to call a friend.”
There was a hint of melancholy in your tone and Dick felt his heart constrict at your words, a flash of lightning caused the lights to flicker and the rumble of thunder surrounded the two of you causing the windows to rattle. The two of you still gravitated closer to one another, “What happens if I want more?” His thumb trailed over your lower lip and you felt your breath hitch.
You trailed a hand up his chest, “Nightwing, are you sure you want to cross this line?”
He leaned in close, his nose brushing against yours, “Very, very sure.”
Then his lips are on yours and he’s guiding you back toward the couch, his body slightly covering yours as you thread your fingers through his silky, black locks. Neither of you paid much attention when the lights went out and the only source of light was the lightning when it lit up the sky.
The masks still didn’t come off and neither of you were sure if they would. He called you Talon and you called him Nightwing. During the main portion of the evening, the two of you were still at odds, chasing one another around the city and throwing taunts at one another. His family didn’t know about your trysts and neither did the Court, both of you content to leave it that way.
Maybe the two of you would be hurt in the end, but you looked forward to the nights you would sneak back to that loft sharing small moments together. Some nights the two of you would just talk, other nights the two of you were too tangled in one another to care about polite conversations.
Little did you know the Court had other plans for your midnight lover.

By the Sea Epilogue
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Fem!Mermaid!Reader
Requested: No (Requests are closed except for a few, see pinned post for details. I also no longer do taglists)
Word Count: 1.6K
Warnings: Angst, fluff
Description:   Y/N is a mermaid that longs for the land.  Her friend Natasha tells her that she knows a human who will take care of her and leads her there, she only has one rule: do not under any circumstances fall in love with a human.  But Steve’s friend Bucky is drawing her in, in ways she hadn’t expected.  Will Y/N be able to return to the ocean once her stay in the human realm is complete?  And what happens when Natasha learns that Y/N is betrothed to be married to their king’s son?  Will she drag her friend back or keep her hidden amongst the humans?
A/N: We've reached the end! I hope you enjoyed the journey!
Tumblr media
Music surrounded Y/N as Bucky pulled her into his arms and led her out onto the dancefloor. The people around them cheered as the two of them danced together to the song that Steve and the others were playing with their instruments along with Natasha singing from the stage. Y/N couldn’t believe that this moment was real, that she was here.
“Are you happy?” Bucky asked as he spun her in circles.
“I am,” she responded just as he dipped her. “To be honest none of this feels real,” she confessed.
Bucky chuckled, “I know what you mean. But it is, you’re my wife now for better or worse.”
“In sickness and in health.”
“Forever and ever,” he whispered against her ear.
It had been a year since Bucky had saved her from marrying Loki, a year since they had started planning their own wedding. Now the day was here and it almost didn’t feel real to either of them. Both of them had woken up that morning hoping everything would go smoothly, and it had all gone off without a hitch.
“May I cut in?” A familiar voice asked and they turned to see Loki standing there, a hesitant look on his face like he wasn’t sure how they would react. “Don’t worry I come in peace.”
Bucky looked at Y/N and she nodded, letting go of Bucky and letting Loki take his place. “I wasn’t expecting to see you here,” Y/N said, her friends from the kingdom had all come. It had taken them some time, but they eventually came to visit Y/N and Natasha in their new home. Loki, however, was a surprise.
“I wanted to come and see how you were doing. And I wanted to tell you congratulations,” he told her as they began to dance.
“I’m doing well,” she told him with a small smile. “I hope you’re doing well too, Loki. Have you found someone to take my place?”
“Not yet,” he chuckled. “Father is being very picky about who we chose. I think he’s afraid they’re going to pull the same stunt you did.”
Y/N laughed, “Well maybe ask them this time if this is what they want before arranging the marriage.”
“Duly noted,” the song came to a close and the two of them stopped dancing. “I should go, I wish you a long and happy life with your new husband.”
Y/N caught his hand before he could leave, “Stay, have some fun. I may not have wanted to marry you, but I always considered you a friend, and I want you here.”
He glanced at Bucky who had been watching them carefully from the crowd. “Are you sure Bucky would be okay with that?”
She glanced at her husband whose face softened when he saw her glance his way. She looked back at Loki, “He’ll be all right. Just have some fun before you go back home.” Loki agreed and by the end of the night, he had met a human that had him under her spell. He finally understood what Y/N had seen in Bucky and how she couldn’t marry him either.
A week later Steve and Natasha came to Y/N and Bucky with some news. “We’ve decided to go on an adventure,” Natasha announced. “And we’re giving you the house.”
Bucky and Y/N both shared a look of shock before turning back to their friends. “What are you talking about? What adventure?” Y/N asked.
“Since Natasha is no longer tied to the ocean I’m going to take her to see the world. She’s always wanted to do this and the two of you need space as a married couple. Bucky’s apartment is quaint, but this is closer to the ocean, and the two of you need privacy. So the house is yours,” Steve explained.
“You’re coming back right?” Y/N was excited that her friend got to live out her dream of being able to travel the mortal realm, but she was afraid that she would never get to see her again.
Natasha laughed and pulled Y/N into her arms for a hug, “Of course you’ll see me again, silly. This isn’t forever. And I promise to send letters and gifts from our travels. And once we get back you can tell us all about your life here.”
“Okay,” Y/N said quietly. “But I’m going to miss you.”
“And I’m going to miss you, but we both need to start new adventures in our lives and this is the best way to do that. You need to be married and I need to see the world.”
Bucky placed a hand on Steve’s shoulder, “Do the others know yet?”
“Not yet, we’re going to tell them next,” Steve said. “We wanted to tell you all first.”
“We should have a party,” Y/N announced. “To say goodbye. It’ll be fun!”
“She’s right,” Bucky added. “It’ll be the perfect way to say goodbye. What do you say?”
Natasha nodded her head enthusiastically, “Let’s do it.”
A week later everyone had gathered at Steve’s, now Y/N’s and Bucky’s, to say goodbye to their friends. Everyone was a little emotional, trying not to cry and smile through the sadness. They weren’t sad because they thought Natasha and Steve would never come back, it was just sad that this would be their last night together for a while.
“We’ll be back before you know it,” Steve said as he hugged Clint who was fighting back tears. “You’ll never even realize that we’re gone.”
“We know,” Tony said as he gently pulled Clint out of Steve’s arms so that he could get a hug as well. “It’s just been all of us for so long it’s going to be weird not having you here with us, having dinner every Friday night, or going for lunch at the cafe.”
“I’ll take good care of him,” Natasha promised with a smile on her face, she was trying to hide how much she was going to miss them and the village. It was the only place in the human world that she knew and to be honest, she was a little scared of how the trip was going to go.
The boys reluctantly left after a few hours, each of them giving their friends a lingering hug before forcing themselves away. That left Steve, Bucky, Natasha, and Y/N alone in the house. They didn’t stay up too long after that either, each of them drained and wanting to sleep. They bid each other goodnight before heading to their rooms.
Y/N was preparing for bed, Bucky sitting on the edge of the bed looking down at his hands in his lap. Y/N carefully walked over to him and tipped his head up so that he was looking at her, “Talk to me.”
He buried his face in her stomach, holding her close. Steve was like a brother to him, the two of them getting into all sorts of trouble in their younger years. It would be odd not having him there anymore, even if it was only for a short while. “He’s like a brother to me and it’s just… I’m really going to miss him.”
Y/N stroked his hair, “I know, but like he keeps saying it’s not forever and they’ll be back before you know it.” She leaned down and kissed the top of his head, “Let’s get some rest.”
He held onto her tightly that night, and she knew that he wasn’t actually going to get any rest.
In the morning when they woke they discovered that both Natasha and Steve had already left. There was a note from Steve on the kitchen counter that read:
Y/N and Bucky,
Natasha and I are sorry that we left without saying goodbye again. We were going to wait, but we talked last night and we decided that any more goodbyes would just be too hard.
Take care of my house and please don’t burn it down. I still need a place to live when I get back and if you think for one second I’m living with any of the others then you are dead wrong. Y/N, I trust that you will keep Bucky in line and make sure my house is still standing when I get back.
Natasha says that she has faith the two of you will keep everything in tip-top shape for me, and to be honest I know she’s right on this.
Y/N, I’m glad that I got to get to know you and that you found your happiness with Bucky. If you hadn’t waltzed into my life then I never would have gotten Natasha back. So thank you for bringing my friend back to me.
I can’t wait to hear all about your life when we get back. Stay safe.
All our love,
Steve and Natasha
Y/N read the letter aloud, tears pooling in her eyes. Bucky had his head resting on Y/N’s shoulder, she could feel his tears soaking her clothes. They were really alone now. “They’ll be back,” Y/N whispered. “Let’s not be sad.”
Bucky nodded, “You’re right. So what would you like to do today, my beautiful wife?”
She thought for a moment, “Let’s go to the studio and spend the entire day painting.”
He leaned in and brushed a kiss to her forehead, “I like the way you think.”
Together, hand in hand, they headed to Bucky’s studio where they spent the entire day painting and drawing in peace. And that night when they returned to their new home the boys decided that they were going to invite themselves over for dinner. Bucky sat back and watched as his wife and friends laughed and talked to one another. Things had changed a lot in the past few years, but he was glad that he was able to sit with those he loved most and be with them. He couldn’t wait to see where life took them next.
FIN.

By the Sea Part Fourteen
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Fem!Mermaid!Reader
Requested: No (Requests are closed except for a few, see pinned post for details. I also no longer do taglists)
Word Count: 1.8K
A/N: I'll drop the epilogue tomorrow.
Tumblr media
Wanda was helping Y/N prepare for her wedding. She hated seeing how sad her friend looked, but Y/N wasn’t talking. She hadn’t been saying much since Loki had brought her back to the palace the night before. Y/N’s friends had been ecstatic to see her, but she had seemed indifferent and far off as they crushed her to their chests.
“What’s wrong?” Wanda asked, finally breaking the silence in Y/N’s room.
Y/N looked over at her friend, “It’s nothing.”
Wanda frowned and went to say that she knew better than to believe that, but there was a knock on the door and Pietro poked his head inside. “We’re ready!”
Y/N got up and swam over to Pietro, leaving Wanda sitting there with a confused look on her face as she watched the two of them take off down the hall. Wanda caught up to them and followed the rest of the wedding procession through the halls of the palace to the throne room where Loki was waiting with half the kingdom and the rest of the court.
The music began to play and Y/N was ushered down the aisle. She could see Loki and his father smiling brightly and all she could feel was sick to her stomach. She didn’t want to be here, she wanted to be back at Steve’s sharing breakfast with him and Bucky and Natasha. Where was Natasha? Why hadn’t she come for her?
Y/N could feel the tears begin to fill her eyes, no one would know she was crying though, the water would carry them away, leaving no evidence of her sadness. She was almost to Loki when the doors to the throne room burst open.
“Stop!” Y/N turned at the sound of Bucky’s voice and when she did she saw him there with a bright blue tail. “She can’t marry him!”
“Guards!” The king shouted.
“No!” Y/N swam over to where Bucky was and angled her body in front of his. “Don’t touch him!”
Loki was shocked at first. He knew that this was the human that Y/N loved. How he was in their kingdom with a tail he wasn’t sure. He could have sworn the man was fully human, that there was no drop of mermaid blood in him. “Y/N, what’s going on?”
She looked up at Bucky who had placed his hands on her waist and was looking down at her with wide worried eyes. “I… don’t know,” she responded truthfully.
King Odin was glaring at the two of them, however, and shouted, “Kill the intruder!”
“Father!” Loki shouted, he knew that if Bucky was killed then Y/N would never forgive him.
“You can’t!” Y/N said, her body pressing closer to Bucky. “I love him.”
The King’s face was getting redder as Y/N disobeyed his order. “Y/N, you are marrying my son today. Your dalliance with the humans is over, you’re lucky that Loki vouched for you and said that he knew you were going to spend time with them and not running away from your duty. Now swim away from the intruder and let the guards deal with him properly.”
Y/N took Bucky’s hand and looked at Loki who was watching the scene unfold before him. His mind felt like it was racing a mile a minute as he witnessed the woman he thought he loved move to protect the human. “I’m sorry, Loki. I can’t marry you.” She looked at the king, "I can't marry your son. I never wanted to, and I refuse to go through with this wedding. Lock me up if you have to, I would rather rot in jail than marry Loki."
“Y/N,” Bucky hissed. He wasn’t about to let her throw away her life for him. He loved her too much to let that happen. “Don’t do this, not for me.”
She turned and looked up at him, “I don’t want to be married to anyone else. I don’t want to be queen. I just want to be with you, painting with you in your studio, you annoying me in my shop. I want to have Friday night dinners with you and the others. I just want to exist with you and be with you for however long I have left on this planet.”
He leaned forward and kissed her forehead, “I love you.”
The guards came forward to arrest the two of them when Loki shouted, “Stop! Do not arrest them.”
The king looked at his son, “Do not interfere, boy, if she won’t cooperate then this is the only way.”
“What about exile?!” Loki said quickly. “She can never come home. She and her love will be forced to stay away from the kingdom for the rest of their days. We’ll never have to see her again.”
The king narrowed her eyes, “Why are you sparing her after she’s humiliated you in front of the entire court?”
Loki looked back at Y/N who was clinging to Bucky, his arms wrapped tightly around her. “Because she’s following her heart, how can I fault her for that?” He swam closer to them and Bucky narrowed his eyes, not sure if he should trust Loki or not. “I’ll escort them back to the village. There they will live, Natasha will make sure they do not break the laws.”
The king was quiet, “I’ll allow it. Y/N you and this young man are henceforth exiled from our kingdom. You may never return and you will be forced to live your days in exile amongst the humans. Do you understand?”
“I do,” she responded.
“Then leave my sight,” he watched as Loki quickly ushered her and Bucky out of the throne room.
The swim back to the human village was quiet. Bucky never let go of Y/N’s hand. He was too afraid that if he did Loki or some other force may take her away from him again. He didn’t want to lose her, it had been scary enough when Natasha had raced into Steve’s home and announced that Loki had taken her. He didn’t think he would ever get the chance to hold her again.
On the beach back at Steve’s home Y/N hugged Loki, “Thank you.”
He hugged her back, “I always knew that we wouldn’t be married. I was sure of it when I saw the two of you together at the human festival. The way the two of you looked at one another it was clear that you were in love. Stay safe and enjoy a long and happy life together.”
Y/N kissed Loki’s cheek and watched as he turned and swam off back toward the kingdom. She hoped he didn’t face too much backlash from his father after this. She may not have wanted to marry him, but she didn’t want to see anything bad happened to him. Especially not because of her.
Y/N looked up at Bucky who had been watching the scene quietly. “How’d you do it?”
“Natasha traded her tail for legs permanently. I’m now like you forever and ever.” He leaned down and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “Come on, I’m sure Steve and Natasha are dying to know how things went with us.”
They walked up the beach to Steve’s home where Natasha came rushing out with Steve behind her. “Oh thank God, you’re all right!” She cried and she flung her arms around Y/N neck and squeezed her tightly. “I’m so sorry I couldn’t stop Loki.”
“It’s okay, you saved me anyways,” Y/N smiled as she hugged her best friend tightly. “I can’t believe you traded your tail for legs though!” Y/N pulled away, grinning, she knew that her friend would be happier as a full human being than as a mermaid. She had known for some time that Natasha was meant to walk amongst them.
She smirked, “I couldn’t let Bucky not dash in and save the day. I’m pretty sure the idiot would have tried to swim there regardless of having a tail or not.”
“Hey!” Bucky protested as he wandered over to them. “I would not.”
Y/N chuckled, “She’s right, you definitely would have tried swimming to the kingdom without a tail.”
He playfully pinched her side causing her to let out a yelp. “That’s what you get for being mean to me,” he pouted.
“I’ll send word to the others that Y/N is all right,” Steve announced. “They now know your secret,” he looked guilty. “I’m sorry for sharing that with them, but with everything that was happening it seemed like it would be important to let them know.”
“It’s okay, Steve,” Y/N assured him. “They were going to have to find out sooner or later, especially since I’m marrying Bucky. I can’t ask the two of you to keep something like that from them, plus I trust them. They’re all crazy and sometimes a little annoying, but I love them like family and they deserved to know.”
“Now that that’s settled can we eat?” Natasha asked as she clapped her hands together to get everyone’s attention. “I’m starved.”
“Yes, let’s go get breakfast started now that the excitement is over and done with,” Steve said as he turned back to the house and discussed what they wanted to make.
Y/N went to follow but Bucky tugged on her hand stopping her. “Bucky? What’s wrong?” She looked at him with concern.
He pulled her close and held her in his arms, “I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you, and I’m sorry it took so long for me to come and get you.”
“It’s all right, you came for me and that’s all that matters. Now let’s go get some breakfast and see how long it takes for the other five to show up and demand answers.”
She went to leave again, but Bucky stopped her, his hands going to cup her face and he leaned down to press a kiss to her lips. She leaned into him, smiling as he deepened the kiss, his teeth gently grazing her bottom lip. She would never get over the feelings that kissing Bucky brought out in her. The butterflies in her stomach, the way her heart raced, and how her whole body seemed to come alive with the slightest touch from him.
This was love and she had never imagined she would find it with a human. Nor did she ever think she would get out of her marriage to Loki, but here she was standing on a beach kissing the man she loved and free from her obligation to marry the prince of her former kingdom.
“Are the two of you going to stand there kissing all day or are you actually going to come and enjoy breakfast with Natasha and I?” Steve shouted from the porch.
Bucky looked up with a scowl on his face, Y/N laughed at how mad she looked at the interruption. “We’ll be right there,” Y/N called over her shoulder. She brought Bucky’s face down to hers and gave him one more quick kiss before dashing away from him laughing, “Catch me if you can!”
It didn’t take Bucky long to scoop her up in his arms and spin her around, the two of them laughing. Natasha and Steve watched with smiles on their faces. “I hope they stay this happy forever,” Natasha said. “They deserve it.”
“Me too,” Steve agreed. “Me too.”

A/N: The gif is meant to be Natasha.
Tumblr media
“Let go of me!” Y/N cried as Peter dragged her toward the beach. “Peter, release me!”
Peter glared at Y/N, “Fraternizing with the humans, what were you thinking Y/N?”
Y/N still struggled against Peter’s strong grip, she didn’t want to go with him, and up until this point he had kept her gagged so no one could hear her, but from this distance no one at the festival would be able to hear her. “Let me go!”
“Let her go, Peter,” another familiar voice said. Y/N glanced toward the waters where Loki was waiting for the two of them to arrive, a frown on his face. “Thank you for bringing her here, but I need a moment to speak to her alone.”
Peter bowed and headed for the water where he disappeared and left the two of them alone. Y/N stood there eyeing Loki for a moment, “Kidnapping, Loki? Is that really what you’ve resorted to?”
His frown deepened at her questions, at the bitterness in her voice. This isn’t what he had wanted either, but she truly had given him no choice. “Well, what else was I supposed to do? It was clear that you weren’t going to come home. You’re lucky that my father doesn’t know about that human you’ve been spending your time with.”
Y/N stilled, how did Loki know about Bucky, “What do you know about Bucky?”
“That you apparently have feelings for him. I saw the two of you in that flower shop of yours. You kissed him, you’ve never been like that with me and we’ve been engaged for years now.” Y/N swore that there was a hint of jealousy in his voice as he spoke those words.
She knew that he wanted someone to love, that he had hoped that they could find it together. But she wanted freedom that he couldn’t offer her. She wanted adventure and a life that wasn’t about running a kingdom. With Loki, she would never be able to experience the joys of swimming free or being on land again.
“Because I don’t love you,” she said, trying to get him to understand where she was coming from. “I never did. I tried, Loki, I swear I did. I tried to picture myself happy with you because I knew that there was no way out of this. But the closer our wedding got the more I felt like I was suffocating. Loki, I don’t love you. I love you as a friend, but that’s all I can ever love you as.”
He stood and walked closer to her so that they were only a few inches apart, “Couldn’t you grow to love me once we’re married. We can take it slow, I won’t rush you into something you’re not ready for, but this is our life.” There was a hint of desperation in his voice, one last effort to convince her that she could be with him, that they could be happy together.
Y/N glanced back to where the lights of the village could be seen in the distance. This was her home now, the only place she ever wanted to be. She wanted to be here with Steve and the boys. She wanted to build a life with Bucky and let him paint her and run her shop. She craved her life here more than she had ever craved anything before. Looking back at Loki he could see the tears glistening in her eyes, “I belong here. This is my home, this is where my heart led me.”
Loki sighed, he had been afraid that that would be her answer. Unfortunately, his hands were tied. “I’m sorry, but this is how things are. You have to come back with me. I can convince father that you didn’t run away, you won’t be punished.”
All the hope she had felt at trying to convince him began to wither away and die inside her. She would be dragged back to her kingdom whether she wanted it or not. She would become queen and rule at his side and she would never see Bucky again. That felt like a knife to her heart, she would never see him again.
One last effort to get him to see things her way, that’s all she could do at this point. “You could leave me here, say that you didn’t find me, I would never come home, things would be fine.”
“I can’t,” he said sadly. “Father won’t stop until you’re found. It’s better this way.” He took her hand and began leading her toward the water, her tears were falling down her cheeks now.
“Y/N!” Someone shouted her name and she saw Natasha running towards them, a scared look in her eyes.
“Natasha!” Y/N shouted and she yanked on her arm, trying to break free of Loki’s grasp. “Natasha, help!”
Loki pulled Y/N against his chest and spoke to Natasha, “She’s coming home with me, and if I were you I wouldn’t try to stop this. It’s bad enough that you knew where she was the entire time, but what’s worse is that you never told anyone.” He continued backing them up, Natasha’s eyes still locked onto Y/N’s struggling form. “Stay here, Natasha. It’s clear where you’ve always wanted to be.” Then they were gone and Natasha turned to find Steve.
“She’s with Loki!” Natasha burst into the library of Steve’s home. When she couldn’t find the boys at the festival she knew that they had come back here. Everyone in the room looked up at her and she noted the looks the boys were giving her as if they were seeing her in a new light. She didn’t have time to worry about them knowing her secret. “He’s taking her back to our kingdom.”
Bucky stood up, “What are we going to do then? He’ll marry her as soon as possible to make sure she can never come back here.”
Natasha shook her head, “There’s still time. There’s someone I can go to. A sea witch. She may be able to help me. Y/N and Loki won’t be married until the morning at the earliest. We still have time.”
“Do what you need to do,” Bucky told her. “We have to stop that wedding.”
“I’ll try,” Natasha promised as she hurried from the library and to the beach.
Bucky watched her go, praying that they wouldn’t be too late to stop the wedding. He looked back at his friends, “I know it seems crazy, but this isn’t some big practical joke. I swear. Y/N and Natasha are both mermaids.”
“We don’t think you’re lying, Bucky,” Tony told him. “It’s just a lot to process all at once.”
“You’re not mad at us for keeping you in the dark, are you?” Steve asked. He was worried that his friends would be angry at him for keeping this secret for so long now.
Sam shook his head, “It wasn’t your secret to tell at the time. It was up to Natasha and Y/N to tell us if and when they were ready. And given the circumstances of the situation, it was best that you told us instead of leaving us in the dark.”
“Now let’s just pray that Natasha can stop the wedding from happening,” Clint said. “I hate the thought of Y/N being forced into a marriage she wants no part of. That just seems unfair.”
“They’re different from us,” Steve reminded him. “They abide by a different set of rules.”
“Still, it’s not fair,” Clint grumbled.
Meanwhile, Natasha sliced through the dark waters as quickly as she could. There was only one person she knew could save Y/N now and that was the sea witch. She had been to her once before, when she went looking for a way to be turned into a human. There had only been one way though, someone had to take her place as a mermaid. At the time there was no one that she was willing to enlist in helping her fulfill her dream of being fully human. But now there was hope.
“Carol!” She shouted into the dark cave where the sea witch lived. “I know you’re here, answer me!”
Suddenly there was light all around her and she saw the sea witch lounging in a chair, “What do you want little mermaid? It’s been a while since you’ve visited me here, I thought you had given up on your dream of becoming human.”
“My friend, she’s being forced to marry the prince and there’s only one way I know to save her. That potion you offered me all those years ago, I need it. There’s a human that loves her, he can stop the wedding. He can save Y/N from her marriage to Loki.”
Carol smiled and swam forward, her red tail shimmering in the light of the cave, “Finally found someone to take your place as a mermaid I see.” She swam around Natasha and then said, “I’ll help.” She went over to the shelves where she kept her spells bottled, she plucked to vials from the shelf and turned back to Natasha. “You’re really willing to trade your tail for legs to save this friend of yours?”
“I would,” Natasha straightened and looked deep into Carol’s eyes. “She wants to be with him whether she is on land or here in the sea. I won’t let her marry someone she doesn’t love.”
Carol swam back over to Natasha and held out the vials to her. “The red one is for you, the green for him. If you drink it at the same time it will switch your abilities. He will become a merman and you will become a human. Once the switch has been completed there will be no turning back.”
“I understand,” Natasha said as she clutched the vials to her chest. “What do I owe you?”
“Consider it a gift,” the sea witch said.
Natasha hesitated, but nodded her head and quickly hurried off to get the potion to Bucky. Carol watched her go, hoping that their story ended much better than her own had.
Bucky was pacing along the beach with Steve standing there waiting. The boys had decided they were going to head home for the night. They had left several hours before, and the sun was just beginning to rise. Steve and Bucky hadn’t slept a wink as they waited for Natasha to return.
Steve’s eyes lit up when he saw Natasha and Bucky came to stop before rushing to help Natasha up. She held out the green potion, “You have to drink this while I drink mine, it will switch our abilities. You will become a merman and I will become human.”
“Will I always remain a merman or can I shift back into a human?” Bucky asked.
Natasha shook her head, “No, you’ll be able to shift like we can, but think about this carefully, Bucky. Are you willing to give up your humanity to be with Y/N?”
His eyes drifted down to the potion and he took it from her, “I am.”
That was all Natasha needed to hear before the two of them popped the corks on their vials and drained the liquid inside.

Description:  What starts out as a work relationship slowly evolves into something more as Tim begins to fall in love with you.
Tumblr media
You, you love it how I move you
You love it how I touch you
My one, when all is said and done
You’ll believe God is a woman
And I, I feel it after midnight
A feeling that you can’t fight
My one, it lingers when we’re done
You’ll believe God is a woman
Little touches here and there were how it started. You and Tim worked together from time to time. He had noticed you around Wayne Enterprises and wondered who you were. Then one day he walked into his office and found you sitting in one of the chairs waiting for him. You had a stack of papers on your lap and you were staring at a picture he had of him and his parents on his desk.
“Can I help you?” He had asked as he rounded his desk, your attention turned to him and you smiled causing his heart to flutter.

A/N: Only three parts left!  Thank you all for going on this journey with me, I’ll probably work on a Wanda Maximoff x Cinderella!Reader next.
Tumblr media
The day of the festival arrived and the whole village was buzzing with excitement.  The real party wouldn’t begin until the sun started to disappear, but for now, people were enjoying the booths that the shops had set up along the main street selling their goods. Y/N was there at her own booth making flower bouquets for the men and women who wanted to surprise their sweethearts.
Bucky was in a booth next to hers painting the faces of the children from the village.  He was taking donations rather than charging a set fee.  He wanted to do something nice for the children and even some of the adults got in on the fun.  Y/N had been one of the first people he painted the face for.  She had a vine of flowers crawling up the side of her face, a lot of the little girls wanted the same thing as Y/N, and Bucky was more than happy to oblige them.
The sun slowly began to descend and the shop owners closed up their booths and made their way toward the square where the other villagers were waiting to begin the dancing and music.  Y/N and Bucky met the boys there and Y/N promised to save a dance for each of them.  Natasha joined them as well, but there was something off about how she looked.  Both Steve and Y/N were concerned, but she brushed them off and said that it was nothing.

Tumblr media
It was your first vacation in five years.  You and your boyfriend Sam had decided that it was time for a break and you both agreed that you would go to Italy together.  It had started out wonderful, relaxing, and the food was divine.  You were having the best time of your life, and then Steve called.
“Steven Grant Rogers,” you hissed into the phone.  “If you value your life and don’t want to be back on ice for another seventy years you will hang the phone up right now.”
“I’m sorry, Y/N,” Steve’s apologetic tone came through the speaker.  “But there’s something happening in Italy and you and Sam are the closest.”

The boys all arrived on time and with Steve trailing after them.  Tony announced that they had all gone by the docks and dragged him away from his work to be there.  Y/N and Natasha were both thankful that they had done that.  Both women were worried that he was working himself too hard and needed a break.
“Natasha, are you going to be here for the festival?”  Clint asked as they sat around drinking wine after dinner.  The boys were happy that Natasha had been coming to visit more often, they had missed her a great deal and had been thrilled when she started showing up more.
Natasha considered her answer, “I don’t know.  I can try to make it, but it just depends on what’s going on at home.”

Hey, are you all right?
Those five words were tattooed on your inner arm, the first words your soulmate would ever speak to you.  Every time someone asked you that question you would tense up and respond waiting for their initial reaction as they realized who you were to them.  But the response never came.  The “Oh my God you’re my soulmate” never happened.  And year after year that passed you felt like maybe you would never meet them.
