my final for anatomy went well and my final grade should be a B! i also submitted my manuscript yesterday 🎉 my first ever, first author publication to be is done and now we keep our fingers crossed that it gets accepted w revisions

today, i’m going to study for motor control and maybe work on some other research lab stuff. Hope everyone is surviving finals week!!

today I need to finish writing my anthropology essay as it’s due at midnight, that will probably be my entire day as I’m nowhere near close to being finished.

it’s been a hot minute since i’ve posted! life has been a little hectic, and i definitely haven’t been as productive as i would’ve liked.

after i came back from traveling during reading week, i went to dublin for st. paddy’s day, where i got covid :/ since then i’ve just been trying to keep up with going to classes and spending time with friends. i’ve also been stressed about a photo presentation i had to give. now i’m trying to be productive and work on all my final essays before i head up north to my boyfriend’s for easter!

today i went to the pret a manger near my school to get some work done. it was a beautiful day, and now i’m back at home watching a little bit of gilmore girls before doing some more work!

Thursday, 20th April -- 96 days until the July Bar Exam

Just less than one hundred days until I sit the UBE again, and I'm already a mess.

I found out that I've got to resit it last week, which frankly was less stressful than immediately wanting to re-register and not immediately being able to. I had to shift some funds around -- fun fact, if you're a foreign-educated law student and not US-educated, it'll cost you a whopping $750 just to apply for the privilege of sitting the damn thing, not $250, and seriously, thanks for nothing. But yeah, had to shift funds around, and of course banks are universally a) monumental pains in the ass at the worst possible time, and b) veeeeeeery slooooooooooooow when that's precisely what you don't need. So instead of re-registering last week ASAP, I had to wait until today. Which meant that I've spent the last five days living in dread and terror of registration closing before I could get to it, and frantically trying to distract myself from the possibility. I kept waking up in a cold sweat from nightmares of the registration being closed. Yes, I'm aware that it sounds ridiculous, I'm already judging my own self. Doesn't make a difference, though.

But at last! Today I got the registration done, and used my Guarantee pass to reactivate my Barbri account. And then stress-ate half the chocolate in my room. And since it's immediately after Easter, that's a LOT of chocolate. I now feel vaguely ill.

My ancestors watching me slouch into morning classes in a university that once was closed to Catholics, right past the statues of men who said women would never enter these hallowed halls, because we lack the intellectual capacity to appreciate law: our daughter returns to the land of her people!! She enters the profession we could not, the places we could not!! And she has the means to afford such wondrous amenities as the coffee bean from the New World!!!!!!!

My ancestors, watching me dump an entire stick of cinnamon, two cloves, an allspice berry, and a generous grating of nutmeg into my tea, sweetened with white sugar and loaded with cream, while I sit in my clean warm house surrounded by books, 25+ outfits for different occasions, and 6 pairs of shoes, in a building heated so well I have the windows open in mid-autumn:

Our daughter prospers. We are proud of her. She has never labored in a field but knows riches we could not have imagined.
