Though I wish she was still here, I love her just the same now as back then.

I miss her.
This is a poem I had written about five years ago. My paternal grandmother, who I called Nana and Ma, passed away when I was 10. We were extremely close. We were best friends. Sometimes I wished she was my mom and got to keep me instead of my parents. Though I’ve adjusted to life without her, sometimes it hurts knowing she isn’t here. Especially when I wish for someone to talk to. Now, all I can do is continue on the best I can and pray her spirit is safe and came back just as strong and beautiful as she was then. I love you, Nana, and I’ll never forget you and all the amazing things you’ve done. See you soon.

I felt that was so adorable. A walk through the park was much needed.

Nana
There are a hundred smells I wish could still fill my nose.
A hundred moments I wish you could've been there for.
There's a hundred times where I wanted to feel your embrace.
A hundred plus days where I wanted to give your phone a ring.
There's a hundred thing I wish I could say.
Like when I couldn't say goodbye and that I wanted you to stay.
There's a thoudand things we didn't get to do together.
A thousand experiences we never got to share.
There's a thousand things I never got to ask you.
A thousand questions I never got the answers to.
There's a million things constantly running through my mind.
A million scenarios; all different kinds.
There's a million times where I wanted to say I love you.
Now, about a million times, I'm saying I miss you.
There's been a billion times I wished you were here.
A billion times I washed you hadn't left.
There's been a billion times I hated that you were gone.
A billion times I had to remind myself you're finally able to be at peace while you rest.
There's been a trillion things I've said, hoped and wished for, but I'll still always love you more.

I've decided to so something new by recording audio of myself reading a poem. I've chosen Gaddess. I've posted the poem a few weeks ago on my creative writing page if you wish to read there.
I wrote this poem almost a month ago. Aside from my fiancé, I haven't shared it with anyone. Since this is my most recent poem, I felt the urge to start off this series with something new and work my way backwards to the oldest poem I still have. This recording is a little rocky, but I hope you still enjoy and got a message out of it.
I wish for peace, unity and many blessings for everyone. I love you all.

Though I'm still fairly new at running a YouTube channel, its doing pretty well so far. Aside from that, it's been fun making videos. It's another way for people to see what I do, but actually see me in action. Go subscribe and check out my latest upload. You wouldn't want to miss it.

My Love Won’t End Tonight
As children we would laugh. Exchanging jokes and running through the grass. We got a little older and a little wiser. With that, took our relationship further. I've admired you since the day we've met. You've been the only option and that I'll never regret. Not long after, we became adults. Blessed to say we're still with our high school sweetheart. My wish came true when I became we. I now wish for you to marry me.
I can't imagine you not by my side. Seeing life without you makes me feel I'd die. You're beautiful in an out; anyone who said differently lied. There's one thing I'm sure about: we were meant to be unified. There's something about you, and I feel I know what it is. If I had to pick a word for it, it would be Gaddess.
My love won't stop tonight. Even when there's no more sands of time. Even if I go dumb, deaf and blind. I'll give my heart to you if you allow yours to be mine. You're my continued blessing from The Most High. If nothing else, one thing I can promise you is: My love won't end tonight. It won't end tonight.

To avenge his fallen parents and to preserve what they've fought to protect, Khyrus must defeat Nirjin, God of Destruction. His heart is good, but will he have the strength? The will?
Proud of myself for finally completing this goal. It’s been long and rough, but worth making it to the finish line. I hope you all enjoy!
Amazing News!
After working on this for what seemed like an eternity, I’m finally able to announce that I’ve published my first novel. Khyrus: Gad of Virtue & Strength is now available on Amazon and other eBook sites. Click here to get yourself a copy: https://www.bookrix.com/_ebook-rachel-griffin-khyrus/

Finally wrote another poem. I originally intended to post it on my Writing Blog, but wanted to share it on my Photography page as well. I don’t write poetry as often as I used to, and I’m so proud of what I’ve done with this that I wanted to share with as many people who are willing to read it. The first few lines came to mind one night while attempting to get some sleep. Luckily I wrote them down instead of being lazy. Would’ve been another missed opportunity to create.
Gaddess
She lies in bed all alone. Falling asleep waiting for her husband to come home. He attempts to sneak in, yet she still awakens. He stops as she asks “Where have you bee? It’s three in the morning.” In his boots he starts shaking while another lie he’s contemplating. She says “this is the last time. Your stuff is packed and your Uber’s outside waiting.” Never mess with a Gaddess, for you’ll soon regret. Never mess with a Gaddess, for dire consequences you’ll be bound to accept.
He steps outside and sees belongings being loaded in the trunk. He gets in the car thinking of how low he had sunk. He had a good woman and lost her as fast as he got her. He thought he was being sent to live with his father, but soon realized he was going farther. “You’ve passed the house. Where are we going?” The driver doesn’t answer and starts to go faster. To his end is where he’s being taken. Never mess with a Gaddess, for you’ll soon regret. Never mess with a Gaddess, for dire consequences you’ll be bound to accept.
He starts to freak out as they get enter the woods. Why they’re there is what he hasn’t understood. The driver stops and says “people go here when they treat our women like shit.” The husband pleads “you don’t have to do this!” Men drag him out the car and gag his mouth. No one will save him; no one will hear him shout. He’s tied, beaten and hung to a tree. The soon to be widow appears and says “this is what happens when you continue to hurt someone like me.” The shock remained in his eyes as he stops squirming and dies. Never mess with a Gaddess, for you’ll soon regret. Never mess with a Gaddess, for dire consequences you’ll be bound to accept.
They laid him down on top of his clothes. She lit the match and watched him burn slow. Eternal misery is what awaits him. Real love will never embrace him. He will only know pain; never to be blessed. He will never have peace; not even in death. Never mess with a Gaddess, for you’ll soon regret. Never mess with a Gaddess, for dire consequences you’ll be bound to accept.

Ularisena: Stronger Together
While the drawings for my first novel are coming along, my second novel is in it's beginning stages. I feel I'm more excited for this than the previous one I've written. Though I have one more step before I'm able to publish my first, doesn't hurt to start the next project. In the mean time, check out some of the photography projects I've done on my other blog, @penandcamera

Forever?
Temporarily, love made me a fool.
Permanently, poetry portrayed my wisdom.
Temporarily, I was mostly blind.
Permanently, photographs allow me to see.
For a while, I had been a fool.
A fool who learned hard what love shouldn’t do.
I had examples of what love shouldn’t be.
Rarely real examples of what could be.
Trial and error; happiness turned to terror.
Through the fire and flames I’ve come out stronger, loved and brave.
Temporarily, love made me a fool.
Permanently, poetry portrayed my wisdom.
Temporarily, I was mostly blind.
Permanently, photographs allow me to see.
I let my pen and paper speak for me.
My voice was trapped, but I’ve slowly set it free.
This wasn’t the way to live; couldn’t stay in the cage.
I had to get myself out; for me, it wasn’t safe.
The pen and paper gave me the courage.
No matter the person or situation, fear will no longer take over.
Temporarily, love made me a fool.
Permanently, poetry portrayed my wisdom.
Temporarily, I was mostly blind.
Permanently, photographs allow me to see.
My camera became a portal to all the beauty in the world.
My love for life was completely restored.
My only wish is for you to see what I see.
See all of the gorgeous beings and things on my journey.
I will no longer hate life even when my body begins to die.
My soul and energy will continue on and, soon, my new life will dawn.
Temporarily, love made me a fool.
Permanently, poetry portrayed my wisdom.
Temporarily, I was mostly blind.
Permanently, photographs allow me to see.

Grateful, thankful and appreciative are just a portion of what I’ve been feeling lately. Though I have almost just enough nervousness to match, I’m glad I stuck this out. I’m glad I’ve made the decisions I’ve made for my career. I wouldn’t trade this for anything.
Made quite a bit of updates over the last few weeks. Proud of what I’ve been able to do since the beginning stages five years ago. It looks so beautiful and I kind of feel like the proud parental figure at their child(ren)s graduation. I’m fully aware there’s so much more left for me on this long road I’ve chosen travel down, but looking back, I’ve seen how far I’ve managed to come weather on my own or with the genuine support of those around me. There were moments where I didn’t think I could make it half as far as I have now. I’m completely grateful and give thanks and honor to The Most High, the number one reason why I’m here today.
