There’s a major difference between “predictable” and “being able to figure it out.”
A twist or reveal should not come out of nowhere, nor should one be used solely to go “ah ha! Surprise!”
If you layer your clues right or work them in just right, savvy people will and should be able to figure them out. And the explanation afterwards should be good enough that the people who didn’t put the clues together can still go “oh, that makes sense”
Take the first season of the Good Place, for example. Entirely possible to figure out, but the clues just as easy to dismiss as happening because of standard comedy tropes. But when explained, it all made sense.
I so rarely do, I’m always happy to put clues together correctly. (Though for me, most of that comes from asking “what would be most dramatic” or looking at cinematography tricks)
that some people respond to any well-foreshadowed reveal with “ugh that plot twist was so predictable” proves bad faith criticism has rotted their brains to the point they think it’s bad writing if they can correctly identify information the writers were intentionally giving them

So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.
Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

On the one hand, progressive for having female astronauts.
On the other hand, minus points for "astronette" and the boob outlining spacesuit.

In reality it wouldn't be until 1983, 17 years after this comic's publication that NASA would put a woman in space ...why are COMIC BOOKS always about 20 years ahead of the actual government on shit like this? Action Comics 337

Okay, even setting aside the fact that Clark is Superman… if you ever did kill someone Superman was close to, you’d need to be prepared to spend the rest of your life looking over your shoulder, because there’d be nowhere you could hide.
And you better pray to god you didn’t make him snap, because there might not be enough of you left to fit in a thimble.
This is all together a bad idea.

This seems at odds with the last Phantom Parole Day, where they were eager to accept penitent Zoners.

Very helpful for someone to serve their time and then have the entire planet treat them like unwashed garbage anyway ...oh hey, look it happened again I'm no longer talking about comic books Action Comics 336

Maybe the prison system shouldn't be designed in a way that first time non-violent offenders are put in the same place as hardened mass murders-...and suddenly I am no longer complaining about the plot of a comic book Action Comics 336

So much brainwashing and memory erasing by heroes in this period.
And goddammit, Lex. You got a second chance. You’re already preparing to waste it.

Not...sure that brainwashing a woman into forgetting that her beloved husband was lying about the foundation of their relationship is a win here, folks. Action Comics 335

The best thing about Transformers is that nothing is “non-canon.” Instead, what we have is continuities where that particular thing is true.
So coloring books, that commercial where Movie!Optimus goes through the BK drive through, the early toy bios that set Beast Wars on present day Earth, the pack in comics from the Armada and Energon toys, everything.
It’s all true, it all happened somewhere in the multiverse.
