Hey everybody, I'm a college student who transferred to music school with my associate's degree. I play oboe and cello, and I try my best to keep up with the latter. This is where I can vent about my problems and make stupid posts about music major life
Started my doctorate and teaching fellowship this semester and even though it’s been stressful I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far! One thing that I was super excited about even though it wasn’t a huge event was getting to play English horn in a trio version of the Strauss oboe concerto with my prof and a prof from another university nearby for studio!
I finally decided I’m going to continue schooling to pursue my doctorate, and have accepted a teaching fellowship in the oboe studio at the new university I’ll be attending!
Now I’m just waiting to hear back from a school about my application for the DMA program, and an audition in England for a training orchestra at the end of the month!
I passed my prescreen and I got invited to audition for a symphony back home! I’m doing so many auditions in January and February, but I’m excited/nervous to see if something ends up working out
Prescreens done! Now to get ready for my auditions and recital next semester 😅 Love me some Stravinsky I procrastinated recording until the last minute 🤪
Pre-screens are right around the corner😭 But we’re going to make it, I actually felt good about this recording of the 2nd Mvt of Britten’s Temporal Variations
Oh my word I just got asked to sub with the Louisiana Philharmonic, I’m gonna scream 😭 I literally have to rearrange my entire life for the next 3 days for this but it’s worth it for the clout 😗✌🏽
Started a new piece called “Moments from Women” by Tina Nicholson and this movement is called “The Trollup”. It’s still far from perfect but I’m excited to program this on my masters recital!
Somehow ended up playing Aria and Quodlibet by Running in the grad quintet for the chamber recital tonight 🥴 Their oboist tested positive for covid yesterday and asked if I could sub for him in the chamber recital. Even though it wasn’t perfect, I’m glad I was able to pull it together enough that nobody noticed I’d only gotten the music the day before.
