The best thing about this feminist polemic is the book suggestions I got from Virginia Woolf herself.
To more wonderful surprise, she talks about the shortcomings of Charolette Bronte as a novelist and the unimpeded writings of Shakespeare and Jane Austen. In her attempt to understand why what happened to women of history happened, she traces from the earliest of writers to the modern ones.
She puts it clear why it is so important to have peaceful solitude and sense of security to write fiction. This polemic feels as if attending the lecture itself, it presents a vital image to the mind. Towards the end she encourages women of the new times to write whatever they wish for but write without restraints or impediments.
