“Nothing gets past me, my Lady. Not my brother’s supposed feats all greatly exaggerated by the way, nor the All-Father’s plans to use Vanahaim as its stronghold.” For a young one she was remarkably courageous when she held his gaze as he moved her over the polished marble. Loki admired that of her. Not that he would be permitted the time to liaise with her outside of here because she was not of nobility and beneath him. Of course he might have been tempted to wait until she was of age and to Helheim with the Patriarchy but why bother? There was to be countless mischief out there just waiting for his touch to set it aflame. Staying here was irksome. The shadow of his brother’s ego was already all consuming.
Besides, his brother was set to go on his trials on the morrow, trials for his up and coming coronation. Loki had been overlooked of course, there had to be a reason for that, and blaming it on his penchant for mischief was not it. The All-Mother had soothed him, but it had not gone any way to quell the rising anxiety.
The song had thusly ended, only noted by a slight tap on his shoulder, a servant boy had come to speak. Loki nodded at the servant boy before smiling down at the red-haired Lady. “It was a pleasure, Lady Asher, truly.”
Samantha did wonder if her naivete and innocence was off-putting to him, an experienced man and royal. Nothing got by him after all, especially her gaze, which now that she was assured that she was dancing correctly it settled upon his brilliant green eyes. She found herself feeling as if she was being drawn in, something even more beautiful lie beyond those emerald orbs.
"So I've heard." She responded without hesitation. "But who am I to speak ill of our royalty? In some realms that is punishable by death." She was well read in both fiction and history, knowledgeable of other realms even though she had never travelled outside of Asgard in her young life.
Her father was one that wasn't particularly fond of Thor, finding him arrogant and a braggart, though all would have to agree that he did perform well on the battlefield. He was however more complimentary of the younger prince, who was quieter and less impulsive, an avid reader much like she was. These of course were things that were never spoken to her face, only things that she had overheard in conversations between father and mother and father and son, in her hiding place at the top of the stairs.
"Curiosity killed the cat." Her mother would often tell her when she was caught trying to keep up with the rest of her family.
"Yet satisfaction brought it back." She would quip in response, a bit ashamed at being apprehended but not about her curious self.
The dance was over far too soon, the music quieting and the handsome prince being interrupted by a blonde servant with some sort of news. She swallowed, the disappointment clearly showing on her face yet she understood. "It was, thank you, Prince Loki. The pleasure is all mine."
Curtsying with a subtle nod of her head she blurted as he started to back away. "Perhaps we can dance again sometime."
Silly girl... just who do you think you are? You're lucky to get to dance with him in the first place, let alone a second time.

“A fast study. Call me impressed,” Loki grasped her waist neatly, sliding his hand to the small of her back, and pulled her closer than was strictly necessary.
Their chests were not quite flush because it was not necessary and neither did he want to feel her shame. Hardly her fault she was so comely, yet had he the inclination to see her breasts spill as obviously as his brother was to his own partners, he would have done so.
This dance however called for tact. Patience. His mother had taught him that any good thing would require tolerance. And he desired Lady Ascher on a more intimate level. He imagined far more than this dance. “I hear your kin’s battalion is due to venture forward on Vanaheim.”
Samantha blushed at not just his words, but how he pulled her close. She'd barely been close to a man in her young life, let alone a prince that she had crushed upon for years. "It's quite flattering that you are impressed by me."
She was, after all, just the daughter of an Einherjar, not nobility or royalty. Here because family had been invited to this celebratory feast of Asgard's latest victory and acquisition, not because she was a wealthy girl hoping to win the heart of a handsome prince.
"You'll find me a bit clumsy, I'm out of practice." The redhead uttered breathlessly as he led her out to the dance floor. A bit of a lie as she wasn't in practice at all, she spent more time at home than she did in the palace, there was little dancing in her life. Her father had been widowed almost a year to the day, her mother ill for a long time prior to her passing. Samantha was a young lady almost of age who filled her time trying to fill in for her dead mother, keeping house for her father and her older brother.
He was as graceful as he was beautiful to look at, and she tried her best not to stare, keeping her eyes and mind upon the dance that she was attempting while her heart beat desperately in her chest.
"You know of my brother Wil?" It was a silly question of course, Loki and Thor both knew their soldiers well, having fought alongside them in battle. "Yes it was quite a surprise that he was given command of his squadron at such a young age, he was very excited to lead his first mission." Wil was five years older than she, as tall as she was diminuitive. Though when stood side by side it was clear that they were siblings, both possessed red hair, freckled pale skin and mesmerizing green eyes.
So far she had managed to keep up with Prince Loki, as shocked as she was pleased. Still wondering if he had somehow lost a bet and had to choose her for a dance.

Lady Ascher; My brother is in his cups. Far too full to engage in a dance worthy of your time, so can I ask it of you before he attempts to step on your feet and thusly drag you over the floor?
Might I have the honour of this dance?
Samantha took a moment to be sure that she had heard him correctly, not at all expecting to be asked to dance at all, let alone an offer from Prince Loki. One look to Thor confirmed that he was indeed far too full to do much of anything besides lift his goblet.
It was silly to think that Thor would even glance in her direction as it was, he was far too enthralled with the ladies that surrounded him on all sides. Perhaps Loki thought she had promised the blonde god a dance, which couldn't be further from the truth.
Prince Loki had outstretched his hand as if he already knew the answer. Who would she be to refuse such a request even it was from the dark prince?
The dark prince whom she secretly adored.
"It would be an honor, Lord Loki." Samantha answered, allowing him to pull her to her feet and onto the dance floor.
