i cant stress enough how much i adore that bad's main personal plotline is just...uncovering who he is. its like quesadilla island is this insane backdrop but our real goal is to murder-mystery style uncover this guy's backstory. everything--his relationship to the eggs, the soul vultures, the memory less--is intrinsically linked to his history, his species, his psyche, and we're just trying to piece it all together. its so fun and its so perfect for bad's daily, slice-of-life streams.

Code, Eggs, Eyes, and Arin
What is the most important thing to residents on the island? The Eggs. Their children. The easiest thing to hold over a parent/caregivers head is to manipulate them.
Luffy escaped Egg Island, he isnt supposed to be on Quesadilla. The Eye workers tried to capture him from the Federation but failed. The next time they tracked Luffy he was with Phil and when Phil refused to hand over Luffy the fight broke out and ended in a threat, using his child as leverage.
Tumblr media
Later the Fed re-confiscates Luffy, leaving him nowhere to be found when the Eyes return to collect. Talking is no longer an option and attacks will ensue at random, attacking what the residents care about, until they get what they want: the entity that doesnt belong on this island.
I used to think the Codes were attacking the Eggs to get rid one the only thing keeping residents tied to the island. To get them to leave. A book was even dropped with “Leave” written in binary not long before a Code showed up to attack.
I dont think this was a threat anymore. This was a warning, a heads-up, from someone else. From Arin.
Tumblr media
From the start we know Arin is a target of the Codes. What I couldnt figure out is why after attacking him, they switched to attacking the eggs. Because, if Codes were attacking the eggs because they are what the residents care about, how could Arin/Luzu fit into that methodology? It doesnt.
But it does fit with the methodology of the Eye Workers.
On Day 24 Luzu learns about Tilins death, overwhelemed with this information, Arin takes over. Shortly after there is a Code attack targetting Arin.
Tumblr media
Foolish, BBH, and Dapper take Arin back to Luzus house, when he explains the computer that is more or less where his mind goes when not using Luzus body.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luzu being so taken over by the death of his child to the point  that Arin needed to take over, it the evidence for the Codes of how important these egg things are to residents.
Arin leaves for that day and Dapper is attacked while with BBH. Why not attack Foolish? He was there with Arin too? Because BBH was with Dapper. Seeking to find Arin again, go to the one who is with their prized possession and threaten it because what the Code seeks, Arin, is not around anymore.
And from that point on, the Codes attacked over and over and over for months. Two eggs were attacked more than others during this time. Dapper and Leo. The eggs whose parents were last seen with Arin.
The attack on Day 45:
While a bunch of residents and their eggs were gathered at Luzu’s to theorize about Arin, the famous book drops. Right in front of Arin’s computer.
Tumblr media
It was assumed this came from the Codes, because it was written in binary. But Arin also speaks in Binary, he speaks in many languages.
Luzu did not wake up on this day, and without Luzus body, Arin couldnt be there physically to warn about the attack about to happen. I think “Leave” was dropped by Arin.
Tumblr media
There’s still a loose end in this right, Philza. Why did the code first show up to Phil on Day 15 at that airship, and why did it give him a book with the coordinates to Arins computer?
The airship is a trigger point, something very connected to Codes. The mega Airships appear associated with Codes more than once.
Phil spent a lot of time with Luzu on Day 1 and perhaps thought they had a close relationship.
I'm really not sure about the Phil thing yet.

Just saw your post about demon trio GAAAHH they are my Roman Empire. The moment when Mouse approached Bad when he was brain resetting in a little patch of flowers he placed down, how close they shifted to each other, it felt so ALIEN and and and cool and I’m so NORMALLL. And when Tina splashed herself with perfume and when she had that role play moment when (idk if it was canon or a character) she was SO OBSESSED with going to heaven, I think she was born a demon, and SOMEHOW acquired religious trauma along the line probably as a child. Born a demon left at an orphanage door idk and they made all the kids go to church or something and Tina was OBSESSED because it gave order and meaning to her life but she was a demon and-
Ok right questions. Sorry, gah I love demon trio. I need an arc where Mouse and Bad get together and try to help Tina. Love how Bad hides the fact he’s a demon not because he hates himself for it (maybe a little) but because he’s a recognizable wanted fucking criminal. Where was I going with this again?
Do you have any thoughts on them? ;v; (sorry for rambling in the ask D: )
AAAA I LOVE LONG ASKS LIKE THIS
okay i TOTALLY agree with you have so many thoughts, i was literally just thinking the same thing last night!!! The absolute difference in upbringing as far as the demons really shows in how they act and i have sooooo so many thoughts about it!!!
So first off, i dont really know how old mouse is in terms of her lore but as far as BBH is concerned hes fucking weird and is constantly alluding to his existence extended FAR before the universe even existed, hell even time and space, we dont actually know what the fuck his deal in full is actually!!! What we do know is he was summoned to Earth roughly eleven to fourteen thousand years ago!
Mouse gives us not as much age-wise from what ive heard but she has expressed that she considers two thousand year olds to be "baby" not quite baby but like VERY young! (I have a personal HC that bad's summoning let loose a new age of demons, maybe not all at once but very quickly so mouse would probably be over ten thousand years old)
Tina gives us absolutely NOTHING she doesnt like talking about her demon ancestry aside from hiding it (when bagi said mouse taught her how to smell demons tina quickly panicked and doused herself in perfume, etc etc. nothing super explicit from what ive seen but im relatively new to her lore). But i personally have a hc that shes roughly three thousand years old, coming into existence around the Middle Ages in 1000 CE. That might seem extremely young but honestly thats what im going for for her!!! super extremely young!!! and born around the time when Catholicism was popular!
In my mind, they all have very much different reasons for acting the way they do and im soooooo ill about it
As a BBH main i have the most information on him so ill be talking about the lore i know from him first before getting into the other two lovely ladies!! So what we've heard from BBH is that he prefers to "hide" his demonic features and "blend in" with humans as much as possible if he can, obviously he doesnt do very good at this but hes old as shit and very powerful so like who's gonna tell him??? From what we've heard of his lore, Bad is the cause of a LOT of minor and major disasters in history; Mt Vesuvius (who he named after a dead lover) exploding, the plague taking out most of europe (which he was a plague doctor for), and alongside other major things theres some minor events as well! Small wars he's been present in such as the HG war he was in with cellbit very recently, various other wars he eluded to that he recalled "blended together" because there were so many, that time he went to medical school for 15 minutes just to do brain surgery on that president on a boat.... he also knows a lot of major historical figures and hes been EVERYWHERE, we actually have a rough timeline of where he's been and when just based on who he knows. He knew not only the fucking guy who created the study of viruses, HIS ASS KNOWS ISAAC NEWTON..... and i think once he alluded to knowing goddamn adam and eve, maybe even being the snake in the goddamn garden. Considering its cannon to his lore that he was the angel locked beneath the euphrates river i wouldnt be surprised at that point.
All this to say: Bad has been present for and had an active hand in a LOT of major and minor disastrous historical events, and hes repeatedly talked about how people would chase him with torches and pitchforks - even referring to that activity as "therapy" and said thats the reason he doesnt believe in therapy, because it hurts and doesnt do anything for him except get him running.
Bad does not personally feel shame about his demonic features, he's used to hiding them (or at least intending to.... hes doing a bad job at it) for his own personal safety, because his role as >>>>A) a demon and B) the fucking ferryman of death<<<< brings him a LOT of negative attention. Negative attention that he's had to deal with ALONE for a majority of his existence, up until about fourteen thousand years ago.** (**A major event i feel caused a new era of Demons, we will talk about it more through the post)
Moving on to Mouse; i mention bad's role as a demon having an affect on negative things around him because i honestly think that applies to all or most demons. I don't know much about mouse's lore, but i do know shes proud of her heritage to some degree, is unashamed to tell people shes a demon, and will even actively teach people things about her species (Bringing back Bagi again - We know in cannon Demons smell like Sulfur, its been stated pomme and dapper and bad and mouse and tina all smell like it, and we can assume empanada also does or is starting to).
I, to some degree, think the beginning of her existence was much more accepting and inviting, while bad dealt with his negative experiences alone, and tina had her own upbringing we'll get into, Mouse came into existence during a "Dark" age, when bad was summoned to earth there was a wave of the newest generation of demons being spawned into this world(not in a "father of all demons" way but more in a "large expressions of magic often lead to a ripple affect of more magic" way). A lot of shit probably happened, im not insane like badboyhalo im not gonna research what happened but theres probably some kinda major event that happened. Demons born around that era probably had some kind of support system or way of existing that was underground enough for them to not be wiped out, but they had enough freedoms that mouse and others probably felt comfortable enough to express demonic traits.
I like to think this was the era of her life that had the most influence over her existence, that she was created with pride and will ALWAYS have that pride in her species, it may be dampened but it will never go away fully!*
*I like to think shes experienced maybe some shame over her species when it comes to minor historical events that shes contributed to by just being present, but it very rarely lasts longer than the event itself.
Tina, as far as im concerned, is the youngest of the demon trio aside from their kids. I kinda write her akin to Amethyst from SU, her existence was very recent and she was alone with very little or no initial support system, she was brought up thinking she was "wrong" in some way, her teeth and nails were too sharp, and she has horns and sometimes her skin has a purpleish hue to it that make other people think theres something wrong with her. She has a VERY obviously christian/catholic upbringing which was brought to light recently in one of her conversations with foolish. She's always felt shame about her species and she probably would have continued if it wasnt for mouse and bad, but ESPECIALLY if it wasnt for Empanada.
I have my own thoughts on the demon babies that we'll get into later, but after gaining her daughter who is very much going to be a demon (two demon parents, obvious demon child lol) i cant help but wonder how tina's planning on pushing aside her feelings of shame to make Empanada feel welcomed and loved regardless of her species?
Tina's very young, of course shes seen some major events in history but shes never been raised in community, she probably didnt even know thats just something that comes with the horns until very recently! I can imagine bad and mouse joking and giggling about that town that they stayed the night in that caught fire the next day that they got chased out of a couple hundred years ago, and i can imagine tina being confused as to why they found that amusing, is that normal? Tina's always had minor disasters follow her, her home town very likely burned down or got sick following or preceding a major milestone in her life, and thats probably continued to happen over the thousands of years shes been alive! Being a demon brought up in a very anti-demon environment, whos to say she even knew there were other demons out there really? She was a curse from god, she brought nothing but poor luck and sickness to her household (which i agree with you she was probably residing in an orphanage), she brought it everywhere she went. I cant help but ask myself "did she feel relief that it wasnt just her, or even more shame finding out this is a common occurrence for demons?"
Now thats most of what i have regarding the parents but i have a few notes on the demon kids. I think all the eggs have some sort of demonic features, obviously bads a huge influence on all of them and they care about him as their tia so i draw most of the babies with horns and tails of some kind, but i am particularly focusing on Dapper, Pomme and Empanada, the three demon babies whos actual official parents are the demons.
I dont have anything too specific for them, but i do believe they will grow up to have an attitude towards their species akin to how Mouse acts.
Unlike other demons or even their parents growing up, they have a support system and parents to explain to them things that will happen to them as they get older! They'll have someone to come back to, who will explain "Yes, that village got the plague because you walked through it and the sulfur you spread supernaturally brought illness and bad luck. No, its not your fault in particular. No, you shouldn't stop going into towns and villages, its the 21st century and if they cant stop the plague by now then they were gonna die anyway"
When they inevitably get shunned by humans for their species, they have someone to come back to to let them know that that wasnt right, but its a part of what happens to people like us. Maybe some day we wont have to experience that anymore, but right now the most important thing is to not get caught, and come home to your Mama so we can give you bandaids for your knees and treat your wounds.
I'm so very invested in how the demon babies will be brought up by their parents, i hope we get more demon lore in the future </3
This turned into an essay, hope thats alright njkbhjvgchfg i have so many thoughts on them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

actually insane that q!bad has so much sun symbolism attached to him but it’s not even his, it’s the way he views his most loved people. his kids are his sunshines, q!forever is his sun. when the light disappears his world goes dark, because of course it does, the moon can’t shine on its own

Pomme's diary found in the place she was with Richas (30 first pages)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 117
We walked for so long, longer than a day.
Chayanne thinks we'll be safe if we're far enough. I doubt that, because no matter what threatened us manage to find my secured bunker 200 000 blocks away, and even succeded to get into my room to put its letter. Honestly, I think we'll never be really safe anywhere.
Chayanne was panicking so much that we didn't even have time to prepare stuff before leaving. I tried to talk him out ot it, but they were all already gone and I couldn't leave them alone.
At least, I had the reflex to take one of my scythe. And fortunately so.
During our journey, I had to fight a lot of monsters. It's a miracle we all survived without armor or anything else.
We weren't far from death on multiple occasions.
I'll protect them no matter what.
That's a promise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 118
We could build a little improvised camp. We're exhausted from the walk we had, we don"t have alot but it's better than nothing. The most important for now is to survive.
Dapper made a small makeshift field and planted seeds and potatoeshe had collected along the way, while we prepared tools and cut wood.
Tallulah played the flute to try to confort us and give us courage. She even leanred one of my favorite songs on the flute to try to make me smile again.
We make progress, slowly but surely.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 119
I think each one of us has tools now. We continued to gather ressources, especially trying to find enough food for everyone, because Dapper's field is not enough. But we didn't have great success, we have to be comptent with the bare minimum. We'll try to build a small shelter tomorrow.
It's hard to do anything because we are all exhausted from the trip. We found materiel to make sleeping bags, so they will finally be able to rest in better conditions.
I'll try to stand guard and watch over them during the night.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 120
We were able to start the construction of a small makeshift shelter. It doesn't look great but at least we have something to be protected now.
Truth be told, I haven't slept in a few days, I cannot allow myself to sleep.
We could be attacked at any time, by monsters or by the thing that threatened us. I'm scared it may trace our steps.
On multiple occasions, Chayanne asked me on multiple occasions to share the watch during the night, but I refused systematically.
I'd rather let him rest, and watch over Tallulah during the day. He's the one she trusts the most, he needs to be there to for her, and to protect her.
But I feel the tiredness winning over me.
I fight against exhaution as hard as I can, but I can see my reaction time and my moves becoming slower.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 121
The shelter is almost done, I'm so proud of them. They never let themselves be overwhelmed by fear and they do their maximum for everyone to be safe. We watch over one antother and that warms my heart to see it.
On the other side, food is continuously missing.
It soon gonna become a huge problem if we don't find a solution, we won't be able to hold much longer with the ressources we actually have...
I believe it's been a week I haven't slept, I'm trying to stay awake with always being busy. As soon as I am not, I feel my eyes closing by themselves.
It's especially difficult during the night. I spend them looking at the campfire crackling and making sure it doesn't extinguish by itself. We found material to make a lighter, so I play with it to pass the time: I found out the burning feeling is particularly effective to wake me up.
I miss my parents. I miss them excruciatingly.
It's so hard that they're not here with us. I regret all the time that we couldn't leave any note, any letter. They must be terribly worried for us, i feel terribly guilty...
I hope they won't resent us...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 122
Dapper amost died.
Dapper.
Almost.
Died.
We were talking about the pending lack of food, and he suggested we could explore the surroundings to find something to eat. I know exploring is something he adores, and he knows better than anyone the different kinds of existing ressources, so I also thought it was a good idea.
I suggested to come with him, but i assured me I didn't have to worry about him, that it wouldn't take him long to come back, and that it would be better for me to stay with the others to watch over them. So, I accepted. I trusted him.
But he went to fight against a skeleton. Or at least, what looked like a normal skeleton, but it wasn't one; this one had an armor and was able to shoot arrows at an abnormal speed, in addition to having knockback.
He thought it was a normal skeleton and attacked. But the skeleton was stronger and knocked him off.
I ran.
I ran so fast, every second mattered.
He cannot die, not like this, not now.
If he dies, I'll never forgive myself.
I managed to find him, and I could finish the skeleton off.
I ran to him to save him, just in time.
With tears in my eyes, I asked if he was ok and why he wanted to attack that monster way to strong for us even though we have no armor and barely any defense.
He just answered that he wanted bones to make bonemill, to speed up the growth of the seeds in the field. And also because he wanted to make a bone mask for Chayanne, since he didn't have his fetish skull.
He was so nonchalant in explaining it all, as if he didn't care about being do close to death.

me when the little baby empanada who already protected her slightly younger siblings on purgatory island gets to quesadilla island full of new dangers & gets very close to her older sister pomme, who is a living breathing example of the developing mindset that “you must be a soldier always prepared for danger in order to protect the happiness of you and your family” is necessary. they relate over anxiety, pomme gives her a protection helmet for her birthday and shares tips of survival. they are children.

I think after reflecting on it for a couple of hours the thing that frustrates me the most about the day 5 purgatory event is that in hindsight i can absolutely see teams being able to come up with strategies for it and actually think logically to get to the end, but it just went so unexplained up until the very last minute that there was no chance of that happening. It's a different type of frustration when you lose something due to a mistake you've made vs when you lose because nothing was explained in the first place.
I'm not trying to say the event was entirely bad, I just know from a viewer perspective I've come away feeling aggravated and underwhelmed because the players were thrown into the arena after a 2 minute long cinematic that explained the bare essentials moments before starting and had to run around like headless chickens until someone figured out what they're supposed to be doing and everyone else scrambled to follow their lead. I would've much MUCH rather had the surprise of the event "ruined" in favor of players spending their prep time strategizing and making things they'll be able to use instead of 5 hours of gearing to the teeth for what looks like a pvp event and then armor and weapons being essentially useless.
I really enjoyed the rest of this purgatory, but the ending has left a sour taste of it because it could've been so much better from both a viewer and player perspective.
Idk, does this make sense?

The way they talk about qBbh is so... Sad. Like... qPhil, You where there the last time. You know what hapened the last time.
"use Bad" like he is an object or something? Like he is insensible or...? Please, he has feelings, dude.
It would be awesone is sometimes people think about talking about serious things like that other way. "Bad, we didn't want to worry you. Because we know Forever is someone important for You. Maybe we'll need your help. Is painful. Se know. Sorry."
A miracle, that would be. His two only childs are the only ones knowing qBBH is fudging fighting not to die every single day.
Philza: We dealt with this before when he had the happy pills situation, right? He was Impossible to, like, kill. But, we could trick him, right. Doesn't he, like, fucking love Bad? We could use Bad again. Tubbo: Yeah, those guys lowkey hooking up and shit. Philza: We could use Bad again, one hundred percent. Bad would be down to help.

As much as Tubbo and Bad (Purgatory arc) are two sides of the same coin you got take into consideration how the lore/canon/story was of impact to their character's play style.
Purgatory 1
Bad's said before how he's playing his character with the context of a father that's put himself through torture, which has fallen so low that he's lost himself. He was prepared to lose his friendships for the sake of saving his children and the rest of their siblings. He was prepared for the worst, and when his child sends him a message that says, "Run over whoever you need to win." It gives Bad the green light to go feral.
Tubbo is a fairly new character to the horrors of the island. He hadn't experienced the loss and pain as many had on the island before him. He made friends and rivals alike. He's met children to whom he starts to build a bond with he knows the importante but hasn't had his binds tested until purgatory happened. He's held onto kindness and sympathy during the whole thing and it cost him a lot.
Purgatory 2
Bad has been slowly recovering from his depression every since the eggs arrived, but purgatory and the nuke greatly effective him. His memory was fractured, his worst was reopened, and he was infected with radiation. And when he git kidnapped his memory/soul was split into parts. The paranoid and strategic warrior was left in purgatory while the vacation version of himself was left on Quesadilla Island.
Tubbo had to leave his daughter someone he got to know over a short time, but it was enough to realize the horrors and paranoia the islanders have gone through. He's also been struggling with being the best father he can be for her. So once back to the ruined egg island, he throws caution and kindness in the wind and makes sure no loose ends are left.

people who obviously don't watch badboyhalo don't be insanely biased against him and refuse to give him the benefit of the doubt and always assume negative intent from his actions for one second challenge level IMPOSSIBLE.
just saw ppl saying "-10000 RP" and "i can't believe bbh ditched his team for the christmas event" like. dude. you obviously do not watch him and don't understand why he does anything he does and you have a bias against him so you read everything he does as negative. like.
1-really really wanted to do the christmas event but supported his whole team through the big event.
2-got on early so it makes sense for him to conserve time. He has faith in his team to survive and plans to get back on later.
3-WILL NOT STOP GUSHING ABOUT HOW PROUD HE IS OF HIS TEAM AND HOW COOL THEY ARE.
4-has established canon-plausible reasons that his character in QSMP and his character in Purgatory 2 both exist and that they share knowledge to a degree. 1/3 of qBBH, the more violent and brutal side, is in Purgatory. the other 2/3 is on Quesadilla. There are overlaps in their knowledge.
Like I get you guys don't know all of his lore but seriously. Maybe try not assuming every thing bbh does has negative intent. Just admit you don't like him and move on, stop trying to justify it with things you know nothing about.

bc okay like i........ this is all ic obviously but it's been so wild to see how quickly people got scared or wary of bad post purgatory EVEN SOULFIRE MEMBERS bc at the end of the day he's... a fucking monster. and the base is a great example bc the reactions were so extreme and they completely misread the point of it: it's about love, not about sadism!!!! but people don't listen!!!!!!! they don't understand enough to listen!!!!!!!!!!
and then you have tubbo.
the thing is, people got confronted with bad's monstrosity in purgatory but tubbo already knew about it -- the monstrosity wasn't the issue, it was that bad was doing something tubbo disagreed with. tubbo was never scared of bad, even when directly indirectly threatened.
so, obviously, they go to purgatory and he's not scared. this is kind of expected. AND THEN HE HOLDS THAT MONSTER BACK, AND HE KNOWS THE LEASH IS NOT TANGIBLE BUT HE ALSO KNOWS IT WORKS BC RESPECT BLOOMS.
AND NOW THEY'RE BACK AND TUBBO STILL DOESN'T FUCKING CARE THAT BAD IS A MONSTER, SURE HE IS, OF COURSE HE IS. ALWAYS HAS BEEN. BUT NOW HE'S *TUBBO'S MONSTER* AND THAT'S WHY HE GETS IT. HE UNDERSTANDS. HE UNDERSTANDS THE ISOLATION AND THE FEAR AND THE LACK OF ACCEPTANCE. HE LOOKS AT BAD LIKE FAMILY THE SAME WAY BAD LOOKS AT HIM LIKE FAMILY. THE SOULFIRE BASE IS TANGIBLE AND THERE AND IT TOOK SO MUCH WORK, BC IT'S HOME. IT MATTERS.
they matter.

there's something so tragic about the way q!bad is tragic.
he isn't tragic because the stars align wrong or the fates conspire against him, he isn't tragic because the narrative builds against him at every turn or because he is at the mercy of the gods.
q!bad is tragic in the way any angel who fell from grace is tragic. he's tragic because he was born great and fell to power, and loneliness, and time that never stops but a heart that never gives out. he is tragic because he was pulled from home young and fresh and tossed into blood and brimstone and destruction. he is tragic because he met humanity terrified and angry, and he knew death before he knew love.
he is tragic because he is the one who forces the hands of the gods and cuts strings of fate with scissors who aren't his to yield, and suffers the consequences. he's tragic because he has a choice and chooses wrong, every time. he's tragic because he knows better but does he? can he choose right? oh god, why must he always choose wrong?
he's tragic because he loves wrong. he's tragic because he loves right but too much, or too little, or too loud. he's tragic because his humanity is a mask and humans don't trust the plasticity of his disguise.
he's tragic because he is claws and teeth and horror, but his hands can be oh so gentle if you look past the chance of pain. if you take the occasional scratch and let him tend it.
he's tragic because those claws are comforting and safe when you need them, but scary when you don't. they look so much sharper when they're not turned to your enemies, don't they? have you forgotten how loving they can be? don't they say a monster isn't a monster when you love them? they're wrong.
q!bad is tragic in the same way death is tragic.
it's the inevitability in both.

Headcannon time
So you know how its a common thing to see eggs drawn or written like their parents and taking on their traits?
What if in the early days, none of the kids had horns except for Dapper. Everyone thought “that makes sense, Dapper is Bad’s kid”.
But as time went on, more eggs started to grow horns. First with Leo and Ramon. Then Phil started to notice Tallulah growing horns, thus Chayanne did too. Hell, even Bobby had some horns when he passed.
Now a days, Richas and Pomme have the same size horns as Dapper. Forever lovingly complains about Richas’ horns, but Richas says it goes with his cow head. Pomme proudly wears her horns, even putting jewelry on them like Dapper does.
Pepitos horns have started to sprout, same with Empanadas. Bagi nearly had a heart attack when she saw them the first time. Sunny asks Tubbo why Em has horns, but she doesn’t and Tubbo is just as confused. Fit just says that they came from a certain place of love, which confuses them more.
Everyone calls Bad the babysitter, which he doesn’t mind. He loves these eggs so much. Every piece of his heart is for these eggs.
Even now, it still squeezes Bad’s heart when he sees a bunch of eggs running around with horns. Knowing that his love of the eggs is a reminder to everyone.

The mood on the boat is somber as Bad stares across the water at the tumbling waves. He is far too aware of the barrels surrounding him and the symbol that will catch his gaze the moment he turns back to look toward the boat; it takes a lot of willpower for Bad not to reach up and touch the green that is growing and spreading.
He forces himself to think of blue for a moment, not green— he imagines smooth ice solidifying over the surging waves. But the fond thought of his little slice of heaven in hell comes with dark anxiety now; he is returning to a hell with no sure promise of heaven.
He hears quiet words behind him, both English and Portuguese running together, and he pulls himself away from the waves. He forces himself to ignore the barrels that might be speeding up his death and instead focuses on what makes him want to live.
Tubbo is pacing, holding his scythe and not looking at anyone as he mumbles to himself. Bad catches just a handful of words here and there: Cucurucho, not going out on a loss, Sunny, my fault, and then the odd nonsensical three-minute ad. Pac and Bagi are having a conversation in low voices, but Bagi and Etoiles with entirely different expressions: Bagi’s brows knit in worry, but Etoiles holds his sword and watches with interest. Pac, on the other hand, looks terrified.
It’s a stand-off for a moment, of which will win first— if Bagi will attempt words of comfort, if Etoiles will suggest a nice, distracting PvP warmup, or if Pac will join Tubbo in begging: no, no, please let us go home.
Bad decides to say something first. “So, Purgatory again, huh?”
Bagi’s eyebrows furrow further, and she purses her lips.
Etoiles looks away from Tubbo to take a moment to look Bad up and down. “You do not look so good, Bebou. ”
Bad resists the urge to touch his wound and smiles instead, but Tubbo speaks before he can respond.
“I just finally showered,” Tubbo moans. “Or jumped in a lake and swam with the catfish, actually. But close enough.”
“Well now you can jump in the icy cold waters of Purgatory,” Bad says cheerfully.
Tubbo stops pacing and looks directly at him. “You think I’m going to do anything other than devote my life to the grind for the next five days, BadBoyHalo? You think I’m going to have time to shower?”
“Please do,” Etoiles groans. “You stink. You are stinky.”
“Oh, fuck you, Etoiles,” Tubbo shoots back.
“Language,” says Bad.
Tubbo ignores him. “You’re the one who stinks. I’m better than you at PvP. You wanna go? I can take you! You’re washed!” His tone is playful, but his hands shake as he pretends to thrust out his scythe.
“At least I have washed.” Etoiles sounds amused. “Unlike you, you stinky little garbage boy.”
Tubbo gasps loudly, and Bad smiles despite himself. Pac snickers.
“I hope Empanada is okay,” Bagi says abruptly. “She didn’t want me to go back to Purgatory, but I’m leaving her anyway.”
The mood immediately becomes tense again, and none of them say anything for a moment. Bad watches as Tubbo glances away, knuckles whitening as his hand curls into a fist around his scythe.
“I miss Fit,” Pac admits, his voice quiet. “And Richarlyson.”
“But at least we are together,” Bagi adds, after a long moment. “If I have to go back, there is almost no one I would rather do it with. You were a great coach, Tubbo.”
A small smile flickers across Tubbo’s face, and he lowers his voice. “What are we gonna do? We’re going to go out on that field and we’re going to win that Superbowl, can I get a yes coach?”
“Yes, coach!” Bad, Pac, and Bagi echo, and Etoiles chuckles.
But Tubbo’s smile falls away as quickly as it formed. “There are no teams this time, Bagi. We’re on our own.”
Bad’s stomach twists. They are on their own. It is a twisted funhouse mirror of the days before Purgatory, when the eggs disappeared on them, and now they are disappearing on their children because of the same entity that their kids had run away to protect them from.
“I don’t care,” she says. “We are going to kill that big eyeball guy. I said I would come back to save you. I will fight for you. We can fight together.”
Tubbo’s eyes widen for a second, but then he glances down, biting his lip. “We don’t know what’s going to happen, Bagi. This could be some Hunger Games shit. That stupid eye motherfucker said that there can only be one winner.”
“Language.”
“I know you,” Bagi says. “You do not care what that eye guy says. You fight for us anyway.”
Tubbo studies each of them, one by one, starting with Pac. He looks at Bad last. Bad holds eye contact with him, but Tubbo is the first to look away.
“We can say we’ll fight together,” Tubbo says, “but people don’t always stick to their promises.”
“Hey,” Bad protests, “it was one day. You weren’t doing a very good job of being a leader of the team, but the next day it all worked out and you were a great leader again! I think listening to Pierre was totally understandable.”
“I think BadBoyHalo is wrong, Tubbo,” Bagi says. “I really appreciated what you tried to do. That’s why you’re a good coach.”
“It worked out in the end,” Pac says, comforting despite his own fear. “We got Fit on our team.”
It hits Bad how wound up Tubbo is when Tubbo doesn’t even take the opportunity to make fun of Pac’s crush on Fit.
“Oh, that’s not even the day that bothers me most, Bad,” Tubbo says. “Day 12! Day 12! I told you to run and you should have listened! We lost because you let them kill you!”
“I thought they would be nice and respectful,” Bad says. “But instead they were silly muffins and killed me even though I was just getting my stuff back. I don’t see how that’s my fault.”
“You don’t see how that’s your—” Tubbo inhales sharply and then shakes his head. “Doesn’t matter. You’re right, Bagi. Working together is worth a shot. We didn’t let Purgatory tear us apart last time, and we won’t this time, either.”
“Oh yeah, I hated you before Purgatory,” says Bad.
“Me too,” says Bagi.
“I didn’t,” says Pac.
“Thank you, Pac,” Tubbo groans. “But we’ll fight together then, yeah? As long as we can. Can I get a yes coach?”
“Yes, coach!” Bad, Bagi, and Pac cheer.
“I will not fight with you, I will fight you,” Etoiles chuckles. “With my superior PvP skills.”
Tubbo immediately opens his mouth, but Bagi thankfully cuts in before he can swear at him again. “If you do not want to work with us, fine, Etoiles. Team Soulgayfire will stick together.”
“We gotta keep everyone safe,” Pac agrees.
Tubbo glances back at Bad for a moment. Bad can’t tell what he’s thinking.
“I will beat you though,” Etoiles says cheerfully. “Because you are trash.”
Pac leans over to Tubbo and whispers, just loud enough for Bad to hear: “I think he’s trying to be comforting in his own way.”
“Dapper only has Bad,” Tubbo says at last. “Just like Sunny only has me. If the stakes are high enough, Bad can’t lose any more than I can, because we can’t let our children be alone.”
“Baghera is Dapper’s mother,” Pac points out, but Tubbo shakes his head.
“And where is she?”
Bad turns back to look at the ocean, the waves lapping over each other in an inconsistent rhythm. He feels everyone looking at him. His mind grows hazy for a moment, and it’s just him and the ocean, everything falling away from his mind, before snapping back again like a rubber band pulled taut.
“When we get back to the island,” he says, “I have something I want to show you, Tubbo.”
He sees Tubbo turn to look at him out of the corner of his eye, but before Tubbo can respond, Bad’s attention is caught by figures in the distance.
“Wait,” Bad says. “Guys, come look.”
The others join him at the side of the ship. The figures become clearer as they come closer— a federation worker with a large eye grips the arm of the other figure as she tries to squirm out of his grasp, kicking and screaming, words desperately climbing in volume, tripping over her as she cries.
“TINA!” Bagi screams beside Bad. “No— Tina— not Tina— I promised Empanada—”
Tina shakes as she climbs the ladder, the tip of the eye worker’s sword pressed against her back. Her face is red and blotchy, but no one mentions it.
“Welcome back to Purgatory, Tina!” Bad says. “We’re going back!”
“You’re a monster,” Tina cries, and Bad laughs, voice tinged with desperation that he's not sure if anyone else can hear.
