GET YER JUICER OUT
A couple of weeks ago, I was recommended a few documentaries by my boyfriend's mum to watch on Netflix. And one of them was the healthily epic docucomedy of Ozzie Joe Cross, who from his 22 stones and all sort of conditions decided to go on a road trip to the U.S. to transform his life completely by doing one thing and one thing only: drinking vegetable and fruit juice everyday, for 60 days. Not a chew or a grind, just drinking.
But before everyone starts going "whaaaat you're mad that's so bad for you what about protein grains healthy fats and nuts?!?!" (Which is what I did...!), This man was in a pretty desperate state. And he went the extreme way.
Now I'm gonna analyse a few benefits of juicing, not for 60 days straight, but as an addition to your diet
Tumblr media
to make sure you can get All the macronutrients you need to keep a healthy lifestyle and confident weight.
Now according to studies, raw food contains the maximum amount of everything that we need, in its most natural form. Boiling, frying or grilling (any kind of heat), actually damages the macronutrients contained in the foods. And also, the fresher the ingredients are, the more powerful they are. As in a carrot that has been picked out of the ground and cleaned ,straight on your table will contain a lot more nutrients than one that's been sitting there for a while.
Now obviously for you to get the maximum amount of goodness down you, we're talking a lot of things to chew on and therefore you're belly starts the "digestive program", and you'd have to eat too much to get it al in. That's why juicing is a good option. The body absorbs it as any other liquid but the content of the foods is distributed directly to your whole body, Without having to digest it all.
So you're really not doing your body any harm at all, quite the contrary: your body is just getting used to crave the natural healthy food that you would have in a natural environment (walking naked picking berries some 5000 years ago.)
Before starting a juicing fast you should obviously seek advice of a health professional, but if you've got green lights it's a good way to "reboot" your system in the most natural way.
But it's also really good to have a couple of juices a day, just to balance your diet

and add goodness overall.

And on the picture, one of my favorite morning juice:
-4 apples
-4 carrots
-2 lemons
Tiniest bit of ginger
- 2 handfuls of shredded kale

First thing’s first…
One of the life changers for me recently was FARM FOOD.
I had this realization once in Sainsbury’s, staring at a red pepper thinking ” Surely I shouldn’t be able to see my own reflection in this, right?!”.
And that’s one of the things my dad’s always told me, being from the Mediterranean, is that food comes from the GROUND.
So I done my research about most of the average food you find in any supermarkets. Problem being, the same thing comes up all the time: FOOD PRODUCTS.
This meaning that whatever you’re buying, from a can of Heinz tomato soup to a Tesco’s macaroni and cheese, contains very little nutrients and therefore is a FOOD PRODUCT (a product that is supposed to be food, looks and smells like real food but unfortunately contains nothing that your body can use, process and break down).
Most of the veg in any supermarket is grown in environments that are far from natural, using all kinds of toxic products to keep it growing to follow the demand.
For example; CORN.
It’s in everything. Not just corn as you’re imagining it as nice once boiled with lots of salt and pepper on it (or butter for your preference), but I mean the actual grain. Corn syrup is used in everything from pasta sauce to cereals, yogurts etc. It’s an isolate of the food just like cocaine from a coco leaf… Just to give you the picture…!
Monsanto, as multinational corporation you’ve probably heard of for it’s infamous bribing of the food industry, have developed a pesticide that will kill ANYTHING around the corn seed, but the corn seed. Herbicides ( glyphosate, maize), insecticides, pesticides and I can go on for ever…
SO to break it down, pretty much everything produced containing corn (or corn syrup), is genetically modified to benefit the rapidity of the growth to do with demand. In other words, someone is spraying your food with worse things than cleaning products, and you’re there to eat it.
Now, that’s not the worse part.
Monsanto and other multinational corporations have been doing this since the 80’s. Testing certain things on rats (that have a life spam of 2 years) for about 3 months, finding it non damaging within this period of time, when independent research has proven very dangerous effects on the long term.
So just think about this; if all these Genetically Modified Organisms have only been knocking about since the 80’s, we haven’t really seen the worse long terms effects yet.
On top of that, being the Lords of the Food industry, what companies like Monsanto get up to, is that they will make it illegal for a farmer to re use seeds the following year, having to buy it from them. Certain farmers have been brought to justice by Monsanto because of finding the certain seed makeup on their ground when they only blew from the farm next door.
And on top of that, they are putting Mexican farmers out of business, then employing them across the border for far less money and atrocious working conditions.
Now all that cleared up, I made my mind to not let them win and buy Organic food from Organic Farms. Putting my money in the farmers pocket and empowering local businesses, having food that actually contains nutrient, (They are the components in foods that an organism utilizes to survive and grow) and are good for me. Also it’s a sort of rebellion against the big man.
And think about it, if everyone decided to do so, they wouldn’t have the demand to be producing rubbish like that, they’ve have to change their game completely to keep their own business afloat. Therefore if everyone decided to say no to all the GMOs and other disgusting food products, they’d soon have to deliver organic REAL foods that grows out of the ground and on trees. The simpler you get with it, the better for you. Get food and have them from their natural form.
