i fast-animated this in like two days. I would make it more detailed cause my inner perfectionist isn’t quite satisfied but i don’t feel so good at this point lol
Hi! I'm new to your blog and I really love your artwork especially your animation work! I was curious as to what app you use to do the animations? And do you have any advice for someone who is just starting out and playing around with animation?
Hi! Sorry I don’t know how long this has been in my mailbox I might’ve missed this!
I mainly use Tvpaint 11! Became very comfortable with this one quickly.
For beginners, ppl usually tend to recommend reading Richard Williams’ book and watching his lectures (it can be helpful but it’s not crucial and might not work for everyone - i myself never finished reading it lol). I guess it’s safe to advise to get familiar with the 12 principles (like keep em in mind but don’t feel limited to them or it’ll get boring - if it looks right it’s probably right) and the usage of arcs, timing, spacing (there’s a book called Timing for Animation by Harold Whitaker and John Halas that explains a lot but then again, books on animation don’t really work for me, yet they were really helpful to some people i know)
I think two things were crucial for myself when i just started: watching my favorite pieces of animation frame-by-frame (I didn’t overanalyze or anything back then but I would do that so often it kinda gave me the feeling of what I want the drawings for my own animations to look like, I guess) and practicing daily. Although I only practiced daily for like 5 days, it gave me the push I needed to stop being afraid of animating.
