Holy fucking shit I called it. (Yes my tumblr has been dead but I wanted to go back and find this old post)

So Geten suspiciously looks a lot like Rei.

And it got me thinking...

What if he’s also a Todoroki? Not Touya since he had a fire Quirk, but a relative from Rei’s side of the family. (So Shoto, Fuyumi, Natsuo, and Touya’s cousin maybe?)

I mean, there could be motivation to act against heroes because his uncle (Enji/Endeavor) did all those horrible things to Rei and his kids.

It’s a dumb theory, but I thought it was interesting. Just imagine Dabi (who is definitely a Todoroki, you can’t change my mind haha) hearing Geten have some resentment or hatred towards Endeavor or reveals his backstory and Dabi’s just like: wait—

Dabi and Geten cousin dynamic where Geten calls Dabi out on his shit (like being dramatic af)

Regarding Hawks in Chap. 283...

The fan-made summary of chapter 283 stated how Mineta was questioning the morality of heroes choices, and how the focus on Hawks during these lines was “meant to prompt the reader to consider if Hawks’ prior actions (murdering Twice) was morally correct”.

However, more recent fan translations have shown that, rather than focusing on the morality of the heroes’ choices, Mineta was wondering if they made the right ones - more specifically, whether or not everyone’s actions in this arc were in vain.

The close-up on Hawks during this speech is important though, because if it weren’t for him, this arc wouldn’t be happening in the first place.

Hawks spent months with the PLF, risking his life under immense pressure to leak information to the heroes all for this day. The destruction we see in this chapter? This is what Hawks was trying his best to avoid. Not to mention that, the whole morality debate of his killing of Twice aside, the removal of Twice’s quirk was probably the greatest win the heroes have had this arc, as Twice would have destroyed everyone. Even though he was knocked out early, Hawks, out of every hero there, has put in the most work for this operation by far.

So, that raises a new question: were Hawks’ efforts in vain? Is Mineta RIGHT?

Come on guys - it’s Mineta. Of course he isn’t right, as we quickly find out later this chapter:

Because of Hawks’ diligence, the heroes managed to intercept the PLF a month early. A full month before Shigaraki was compete. Because of him, Mirko, and Present Mic, Shigaraki’s new body has been stopped is at 75%.

Each sacrifice the heroes have made has shown to have some impact in this arc. For Mirko, she managed to stop the doctor from leaving, and crack Shigaraki’s tank. For Crust, he made sure Aizawa’s erasure made it out of there. For Aizawa, he managed to delay Shigaraki’s quirk long enough for the 75% to finally catch up with him. For Hawks, he made sure this entire operation was possible, and that the heroes actually had a chance to win.

If it weren’t for Hawks, everyone would be dead. He’s the greatest asset the heroes have had this arc. His former actions are going to be the reason why our protagonists are going to live to see another day. So no, it won’t be completely in vain.

NOTE: these are still fan translations, and while they seem more accurate than that summary, we also can’t be exactly sure of Mineta’s words until the official Viz scans come out on Sunday. Also - why are we starting stupid debates over stuff that happened months ago? No. Stop. Bad Fandom. I wish I had a spray bottle…
