100s attend #StandforAsians rally organized by 13 year old
Hundreds joined a 13-year-old fashion designer in San Mateo, South of San Francisco, to call for solidarity against anti-Asian hate Saturday. NBC Bay Area reports Ashlyn So told her mom she wanted to organize a rally.
“I just thought this isn’t OK; I have to do something about this,” she said speaking about the more than 2,800 hate incidents reported to the Stop AAPI Hate hate crime reporting website in 2020. The young fashion designer received the backing of the Anti-Racist Coalition in nearby Millbrae to organize the event.
they filled the replies with resources for Asians (understanding identity, trying to heal from this, talking about anti-blackness in Asian communities) and non-Asians (understanding anti-Asian racism, information on the attacks, understanding the Model Minority Myth)! I’ll reblog with a link! Please go check it out – it would mean so much to me!
2020 is over and thank God for that but that doesn't mean all the problems we saw last year have disappeared. Some things are getting worse day by day and it's important to take notice and do what you can :)
