life’s too damn short.
A lot of writers just don't know how to make morally gray characters. It's frankly pretty ridiculous when characters who are genocidal murderers do an unexplainable 180 and become happy little softies.
The same people will also make characters that are compassionate, empathetic and nice, and then suddenly write them as self-centered egotistical maniacs, attempting to write the sudden character change as an ' accurate depiction of a mental illness ', when that's not how mental illness works at all. Aside from that being quite offensive, the progression from one side to the next is so terrible.
Tsunderes and morally grey characters are fun, but I guess it takes actual effort to write one.
