“why do u like [insert character] they’re a bad person” because they’re a deeply flawed & complex person. fandom spaces have got to stop acting like the purity police and hold every character on screen to impossible morality standards. perfect people are boring and don’t exist, and this mentality has been bleeding into the writing of shows actively making them worse. this also goes in hand with learning the distinction between explaining and justifying a characters actions and being able to say “I know why they chose to do that but it doesn’t make it ok”

After they come back to Beacon Hills, Derek and Cora open their own coffee shop/pastry shop/whatever-i-don’t-need-to-be-original-here shop. One day Cora puts this thing on the door, just for the kicks. Mostly she’s counting on some brave soul to try to bribe Derek with waffles or something. Sadly, she didn’t take Stiles into account. Derek makes her pay for him as punishment. She decides it’s worth it when Derek and Stiles go on a date a few days later.

I don’t know how to say this in a way that doesn’t sound like I’m advocating for casual cruelty or whatever but something that grates so much about this current social moment is how many people are incapable of saying they dislike something or someone without cooking up some higher morally correct reason for their dislike. Sometimes you just disliked a book. Sometimes you don’t “get” an actor or a musician. There’s nothing morally wrong with your girl’s fuckass boyfriend he’s literally just annoying and you’re annoyed that you have to pretend you like him when you know he’ll be history in six months. It’s fine. You don’t need to justify your dislike.
