The End of an Era; The Beginning of the New

A number of factors (including a need for more flexibility with decor and implements, and some notably predatory business practices on our home sim) have all culminated in something completely and utterly insane happening:

The Heathens Den is moving sims!  We’ll be saying goodbye to our first home, where we first broke ground on January 15, 2017, and moving on to greener pastures.  Literally, in a sense.  Gone is the wasteland of sand and stone.  We’ve finally figured out how to grow and maintain grass at our lower elevations!

The primary build will not be changing, but features such as the beach and the Junkyard will be evolving, now that we’ll have a little more wiggle room.

In addition, we’re hoping that the move to a fresh, empty sim will help with the lag that we’ve been experiencing of late.  Sadly, there was nothing we could do to combat the influx of upwards of 87 avatars at a time next door (which would have prevented some of you from even entering the sim when that was happening [full sim capacity is something like 100 avatars, which means that once our crew was on and ready, there was simply no room for our patrons to join us, even during events that we had been prepping for]) shy of waiting it out or moving.  While it seems that waiting it out has rewarded us at last, we chose the latter.  Essentially, we were finally forced to do something that we’d intended to do for months: Move and grow.

That said, when the club proper is ready, you’ll see a change in landmarks in your in-world notices, Discord set blasts, and all of our social media.  This shouldn’t take too long!

The holiday season, for the past three years or so, has been unfailingly miserable for me. A few bright spots have existed…but none quite like this year.

December has been utter Hell for me.  Nothing has gone quite right.  It’s been painful.  My physical and mental health has been wonky.  Aside from work, I get no physical human contact; aside from Second Life (and Discord)…I’m alone.  After listening to people talk of food and family get-togethers for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and all its banter nearly did me in.  I actually got to a point where I was asking people (and not even just for my sake, but for the sake of others of my group suffering through it either truly alone or feeling alone).

Then people started freaking out over delivery times.  Folks asked for my address.  They ask what I want.  Truthfully, I just want a little stability…but I would have likely cried tears of joy if I’d gotten socks.

Instead, this mad bunch of flurries got together to mail “themselves.”  A wolf, a panther, and a watermelon (…I will not explain…) showed up on my doorstep the day after Christmas.  I saw the melon first, staring at me with the goofiest expression…and the waterworks started.  There was a dialogue.  They had written letters.  Every word made the tears fall faster.  Then I open the box that was tucked away with the plushies.  Quarters…so that I could wash my clothes without destroying my hands.

Then (since we’re still missing a parcel as of right now), today (well, Thursday), I was told to open the last card.  I won’t reveal its contents, but we’ll just say that there will be at least some stability, for at least a little while.

Tears wear me out, folks.  Crying gives me MASSIVE headaches and utterly saps my energy, and it had been a while since I’d cried…and even longer since I’d cried tears of happiness.  I had to rest after the card.  I woke up to a message advising me to pop by the club before I headed out to work.

I still don’t know what I did to deserve these people, but no one can ever, EVER tell me that the friends you make online are not real friends.  These people are scattered about the globe and they still managed to make me feel less alone.

And loved.
