Am I the drama? I don’t think I’m the drama! Okay but today has been dramatic! Lemme tell you- yesterday I got an order from the awesome Dharma Trading except it looks like someone intercepted it and most of it was missing. Dharma was great about it and I’m getting a replacement, but the project I wanted to work on today will have to wait. 😢 Spent the last few days fixing bugs on my website and couldn’t not figure out a menu issue for the life of me. I’ve done web development in the past, so I knew it wasn’t me (heh or I hoped). Contacted my website host and it turned out I’m in an old template. They can update it for Free! but it will mess up a lot of what I worked on. 😭 So I guess I have a different project to do today. And tomorrow. And the next day. Just relisted my Leeloo costume on Etsy and it’s also available on my website. And yes, I did raise the price. For years I have been making this custom fit costume and minimally compensating myself for the hours I put into it, and barely covering the expense of the materials and shipping. Even at the new price now, it doesn’t cover all the time I put into creating it. The costume itself uses three yards of fabric for most, more or less 10 yards of elastic, almost a foot of Velcro & hook & eye tape and snaps for snap crotch closure, which requires extra work and materials. The costume itself requires several spools of thread! This assessment does not even include extra requests or deviations from the main design. Plus I include extra parts if adjustments are needed. Material prices have also risen sharply and while I have been able to offset that for a while, it is not possible forever, especially when shipping is now ridiculous! This costume on average weighs about 1lb. You wouldn’t think so, as it looks like it shouldn’t, but it does! 😳 As well, I spend a minimum of 15 hours constructing it, that does not include time I spend blocking out measurements or time I spend making sure with you that the measurements are correct or if you’ve forgotten a measurement or we need to make adjustments. I’m mentioning all this so you know what goes into making Leeloo because I always get questions when I raise the price. 🥶 Omg guys!! It’s freezing here in Albuquerque and I am NOT HAPPY!!! Am wearing glamorous layers of thermals. 💅 I have a lot planned for this week and it’s not starting out as anticipated. So far I had to fish our trash cans out of an arroyo; very hard to do when the cans are almost as tall as you. Then I had to retrieve part of a gate from the arroyo in our backyard without rolling into it. Satisfied to say mission accomplished. It’s currently 31 degrees here- with the wind 19 💨 Gonna warm up, get my taxes out of the way so I can post more interesting content. Are you cold today too? What’s your fav way to warm up? Dropped off a painting for the @sandiaheightsartists rotation at the @tramwayplaza center this morning! There’s lots of cool new things up! This particular painting is made up of four panels and has handmade gems made of polymer clay and resin embedded in the acrylic pour. 😴 Today is the first day in over a month that I’m not traveling, have lots of people in the house or have something that needs to be done immediately (ok I lied- biannual taxes. But still 🤪) I’ve spent most of the day cleaning, doing laundry and catching up on all the things I put off. I’d ordered some supplies and forgot about them, until they just came in the mail!
