Haven’t posted in a while so here’s a Dark Acadmeia tag (this is the book tag from YouTube):
Favorite DA book + movie?
Book obviously has to go to Franny and Zooey. I feel like the characters are totally relatable (as opposed to catcher in the rye) but also fit the DA vibe in a kind of dramatic/ extreme way. As for the film, probably Purple Rose of Cairo or any kind of nostalgic film like that.
What dead poet would you like to have a drink with?
Virginia Woolf. Imagine getting trashed w Virginia Woolf.
What is your favorite painting/sculpture?
Basic, but, Degas’ ballerinas?
What Shakespeare play would you like to be the lead in?
I feel like Taming of the Shrew (Kate) is the obvious choice but tbh I’ve always wanted to play Viola in Twelfth Night. I think it would be fun. And gay. Briefly. Or also maybe Caliban in Tempest?? But I feel like I don’t see a lot of female Calibans.
How many languages do you speak and which language would you most like to learn?
I only speak English and I’m sick of it!!! I’ve been interested in ancient language for a bit now. Greek, mostly.
Favorite quote?
Right now? “It is our fiction that validates us” -Monique Wittig
What fictional characters death is your ideal way to go?
Virginia Woolf is a real person but the Awakening (Kate Chopin) is a work of fiction so my answer remains: walking into the sea. Maybe also, like, a tragic shipwreck a-la Tempest. Something about nature claiming you...
What university would you like to attend?
Barnard has rejected me twice. :)
What mythology would you most like to be part of?
I kinda feel like I am a part of Hindu mythology in a cosmic, extended way. Plus a lot of those goddesses are total badasses.
If you had a PhD what would you choose to do it on?
Like 99% sure that it would be Literature, but there is always a chance that I change my major to gender/queer studies or something a little more Liberal Arts-like.
Rapid-fire:
Leather bound or cloth bound?
Leather bound! (My notebook is!)
Dog earring or highlighting?
Dog earring ofc! And underlining in ink.
Sculptures or paintings?
Can I say, like, prints? Posters? Can I say textiles?
Piano or violin?
Violin because my best friend plays violin and is a goddess.
Films or theatre?
Theatre! But only if it’s good.
Poetry or prose?
Aaaaaa! Can I say prose-poems?? Is this cheating?
Museums or bookshops?
Bookshops 100% but actually. Libraries.
Fountain pen or typewriter?
I love my fountain pen so much <3
New or used books?
Always used! Preferably with notes in the margin
Im not tagging anyone in particular but feel free to do it! I’d love to see your answers!
