Like if you get a fact wrong on Reddit, the “well actually” crowd will ooze from their mansplainer holes and I think if you pull that shtick on Twitter someone will use it to win a political argument against you that you weren’t even a part of.

Word doesn’t reach Jinenji that Kagome has passed until two months after her death. He mourns so loudly that the villagers are stirred from their sleep peaking at the giant as he weeps. In the dead of night he picks every flower from his garden and packs a sack of seeds.

He spends the next few days planting beside her grave. A garden as beautiful as the woman who showed him life can be kind. He refuses the water and food that villagers had been kind enough to bring to him, denies himself sleep. Inuyasha offers Jinenji comfort in the only way he knows how, by telling him to go home. The larger man does not remove himself from the task at hand, he digs in the soil. For the first time in a week, Jinenji speaks.

”I don’t want Lady Kagome to be alone.”

The dog demon and the giant share a moment of grief. Inuyasha kneels beside him grabbing a hand full of seeds, using his claws to dig through soil. They plant together in silence.

When the first plant blooms, they can begin to heal.
