Dipper and Mabel Morties
Tumblr media
These Morties come from an alternate dimension where Beth Sanchez married Mr. Pines instead of Jerry Smith (Whether Summer Smith was conceived in this timeline is up to your imagination).  And the female Morty is named “Mortabel”. A certain theory about the recent Rick & Morty short “Genocider” may make this one more interesting.

The Pines baby in “A Tale of Two Stans”
Tumblr media
The baby seen (via flashback) in the Gravity Falls episode “A Tale of Two Stans” is Shermy Pines’ son, and presumably the future father or maybe uncle of Dipper & Mabel.   Filbrick and Caryn were babysitting their grandson in this scene. I didn’t create this theory, I think I first heard it on Reddit. At least several people have come up with their own variants on this theory, such this one on Amino. This theory helps to wrap up the only major Gravity Falls mystery I felt wasn’t explained in the show itself, honestly. Kudos to Alex Hirsch and co. creating a surprisingly tight continuity.

The Memory Parasites and the Shape Shifter
The Memory Parasites from the Rick and Morty episode “Total Rickall” and the Shape Shifter from Gravity Falls episode “Into the Bunker” are quite possibly related to each other in some way.
Perhaps the Shape Shifter is a mutant variant of the Parasite species, or maybe it’s the other way around. Either way, I leave you with this PSA as a warning.

Dustin and Dipper
In the Stranger Things Universe, Dustin thought Dipper from “Gravity Falls” dressed like he did as a children.
In some alternate universes, he is actually Dipper and Mabel’s older cousin.  He passed his love of tabletop games over to Dipper, and helped inspire interest in the paranormal and conspiracy theories.

The Hawkins kids’ opinions on certain media
At least one of the kids from Hawkins absolutely loved and played the hell out of the two Dungeons & Dragons arcade games made by Capcom in the mid-1990s. and sunk a bit of money from some of their earlier post-College jobs into its arcade cabinets.
The kids all became big fans of “The Real Ghosbusters” animated series.  Their opinions on other entries in the franchise are mixed, but slanted positive.
The four boys went as the Ninja Turtles for Halloween when they were around their late-teens.
Erica went on to watch “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” with her own children.
Lucas does not think highly of Jar Jar Binks, but everyone has mixed feelings on Star Wars media post-Return of the Jedi overall.

Dustin’s future
Dustin thought that the “Howard the Duck” movie was a bastardization of the comics, but was thrilled to see the character in the MCU.
He eventually worked in the comic book industry, and knows the Stranger Things Universe versions of Bryan Lynch and Kevin Smith, among other people.
Much like Lewis Lovhaug (both in the real world and the Stranger Things Universe), Dustin’s attitude towards comic book movies shifted positively thanks to the MCU.

The Upside Down and the Bleed
The Upside Down can be accessed through the Bleed (c.f. Warren Ellis’s runs on StormWatch, the Authority and Planetary), and someone from the WildStorm Universe likely already has at least once.

What the Hawkins gang think of more recent horror films
Most of the Hawkins gang loved Joss Whedon’s “Cabin in the Woods”. They also related to Joe Dante’s “The Hole”, even Will, who seldom has the stomach for horror media anymore.

The Hawkins kids and Nostalgia Critic
Some of the Hawkins kids eventually watched episodes of the Nostalgia Critic.  They loved his criticisms of badly-written bullies and got a kick out of the Stephen King drinking game.
El has encountered the Stranger Things Universe’s James Rolfe at least once.  It was a titch awkward, as James could some subconsciously sense El’s similarity to a certain film with an abysmally-received video game adaptation.

The Hawkins gang and the 2002 edition of E.T.
The 2002 reversioning of “E.T.” (with the government guys’ guns being replaced with walkie-talkies) was LOATHED by the Hawkins kids and company.  They were happy when the original version was included on the DVD.  They got some laughs from the South Park episode “Free Hat”.

The Hawkins boys and the Toxic Avenger
When the boys from Hawkins watched “the Toxic Avenger” and the hit-and-run scene came up, they vomited and/or walked out.  Finding out about how said scene was inspired by Lloyd Kaufman’s real-life trauma of hitting his sister with a car helped lead them to eventually being associated with Troma.

Heather O’Rourke and the Hawkins gang
The death of “Poltergeist” actress Heather O’Rourke at age 12 in 1988 was one of the saddest celebrity deaths at the time for the Hawkins gang.

What’s in a name for El/Jane Hopper?
“Robocop” rechristening himself as Murphy resonated with El, hence she eventually started using her real name, “Jane”.  Her close friends still sometimes call her “El”.  She at least considered naming one of her children “Juuichi”.
She went on to do charity work for victims of abuse, sometimes aided by Max.

Dustin, El and TMNT
Dustin gave El copies of TMNT #16 & #22-23 (by Mark Martin) because they reminded him of her, and she was flattered.  Her love of the Muppets & Jim Henson and Dustin’s interest in TMNT lead to them seeing the 1990 “TMNT” film in theaters together.
El did a double take, however, when Dustin introduced her to Elfen Lied.

Dustin was coerced into seeing “Gremlins 2″.  It was an odd experience, but he mostly enjoyed himself.  He cheered when Mohawk the Spider Gremlin was killed.

El is a fan of Jim Henson and the Muppets
El’s favorite shows when she lived with Hooper were “Sesame Street” and “Muppet Babies”.  She saw “Labyrinth” in theaters and loved it, and was devastated when Jim Henson died.  She eventually became friends with Henson alumni, and didn’t mind “the Happytime Murders”. Peter Jackson’s “Meet the Feebles”, on the other hand, gave her nightmares.  She also liked “Gremlins 2″.

Rick Sanchez and the Upside Down
Rick Sanchez (and possibly also Ford Pines) has been to the Upside Down.  He learned everything there is to learn about it, and easily could have saved Hawkins, Indiana of the Stranger Things Universe from its creatures without the help of some crazy girl, but he’s a selfish asshole (of course).  He may have used DNA from its inhabitants as part of the DNA cocktail which created the Cronenberging.  One of Ford’s journals include drawings resembling the Demogorgon and the Mind Flayer.
Rick also has little-to-no interest in the Stranger Things Universe’s Earth.  He thinks the powers of Dr. Brenner’s experiments are lame and there’s (likely) little-to-nothing else different about it than the real world.
