Why blockchain - "PayPal for Punks: opensource money for DIY music"
The blockchain not only offers markedly lower payment processing fees when compared to existing card payment platforms, but due to its' opensource nature, affords an unprecedented opportunity for music makers to seize the means of commerce from the mechanisms of capitalism. Further to this, due to automation in the form of smart contracts, the artist-collaborators are paid their share of the revenue immediately at the point of sale, which represents a further paradigm shift when compared to traditional live and recorded music business models. Think of it as Paypal for Punks, cutting out middlemen and ensuring a bigger slice of the pie for music makers.
"She Left The TV On is not a happy-go-lucky, wistful-whistling tune; it’s an angsty, ankle-snapping trip. The kind of tune where you can almost smell the evaporated-sweat drenched club ceiling as you hit play; the kind of tune to which you might instinctually cover the back of your head in case of a raucous festival-style piss-missile; the kind of tune that would make your taxi driver lock his doors."
featuring tracks from Tunnel Club, Shawn Cartier, Spewis (Lewis Griffin), Dufraine, Om10, Barry from EastEnders (Alex Cox), Rohli - Buhl / Daughters & ako!

A collection of underground club friendly cuts from our favourite producers based in the North East. Multiple styles suitable for all sorts of dance floors.
From peak time bangers to deeper melodic house minimalism, and from heavy industrial energetic bombs to left field mind melters; the second edition of the compilations series showcases 8 tracks to have you flailing and frolicing on the dance floor, from artists involved in the label and artists based in the region.
32 tracks of gloriously diverse electronica from artists performing at the festival over the weekend of the 20th July in Newcastle, UK.
Starting off with the more ambient / chill / hip-hop compositions, before the club tracks take over and finishing off with the more obscure, experimental side of the festival!
Super hyped for these 2 dashing gentlemen’s first offering into the Kaneda catalogue. When they’re not classily drinking Dark Fruits or starting on each other; they create some awesomely radge vibrations! We’ve only heard demo’s thus far and gave ‘Trebuchet’ off the EP a spin on our last radio show, so can’t wait for the finished product!
LISTENERS ARE ADVISED TO ABANDON ALL PRIOR CONVICTIONS.
Tune into this month’s KANEDA RADIO this Friday evening 10pm - midnight for a chat the boys, plus exclusive more material for your earholes.

Get to know these incredibly talented North East musicians and find out more information about the show over at the event page:

Juxtaposing off-kilter beats, smooth instrumentals and funky synths, John Dole is an authentic voice within North Eastern hip-hop. His sharp rhymes and clever use of rhythm sets him apart as does his lyrics. Which explore the struggles of modern life, ignorance and its legacy for the future and venting his frustrations with the music scene around him. He takes influence from artists such as the Streets , Mos Def, and De La Soul.

We’re thrilled to finally announce our new sub-label LINEBREAK RECORDS! Founded as the first independent blockchain record label, we hope to use the blockchain to explore fairer ways of working as a label without the boundaries of current distribution technology.
27/07/18 marks our first release: ako’s phenomenal new single Plaintext / Concrete Beach (a meltingly warm synthwave two track packed with angular, glitched percussion). It will be purchasable for Ether (and other coins on the Ethereum blockchain) from our new website on a ‘pay-what-you-want’ basis. Standard wav/mp3 formats will be available alongside remix stems. Spotify, Itunes and other formats will follow on 24/08/18. News on other releases soon!

Over the moon to be curating a stage at NORTHERN ELECTRIC FESTIVAL this year!
KANEDA! & NEF will be bringing the rave on the opening night of a fantastic weekend of live electronic music in Newcastle! All the acts have their roots or links to the toon! NORTH EAST REPRAZENT!
Kaneda’s own BUHL / DAUGHTERS will be sandwiched between the live emotive styles of NOISSI.ME & Slink Radio’s SIMON, for a slice of Berlin in the North of Eng-er-land.
Neighbours SLINK RADIO have invited us down for a monthly residency at their fine station. Here’s the first one - few little hiccoughs along the way but was mighty fun nevertheless!
The selections were eclectic as ever - playing tracks from our back catalogue (plus forthcoming material), as well as some of influences and some of favourite jams from the North-East.
Our boy John Dole came through for a chat with his dog Buster and a little bit of a freestyle, whilst Ako talked us through some of the influences for his various projects & Daughters came through with his hard minimal styles with a vinyl mix to finish off the 2 hour extravaganza! Buhl was on hand to guide you through the whole process.
