I picked Mallory because to me I think she is the cause of the pain that David never should've had . Like all pain ofc David shouldn't have had but after Albert David survived! He did it. He knew himself and he was good. He was loved by both family and lover . He had the respect of his idols and peers. Enough. Done . To me like that's like how the Ramayan ended with Lord Ram returning home. It's the happy ending and he should not have been traumatized again for something that he loved. Who he loved . But for different reasons. It was unfair. Mallory started this whole domino effect which David never got to get out of. There was no happiness after that. His family loved him but they were not that close after that. His lover loved him but could not be happy not to mention the other max situation. His kids love him but Lance is a dick to him. He got to keep his institute but not to run it like a shadowhunter. Every happiness he got after Mallory and because of her was small fleeting and incomplete. Mallory caused damage that never got to be okay. Which is why I hate her the most. Not just because of the harm she did to him which don't even get me started on but because of her , David never got to be happy again . The character who is defined by love became a character whose story was of pain because of her.

In conclusion, all of them are awful but Mallory took away sth that will never be restored especially looking at the next series. David will always be in pain not because of her but as a cause of her.

Can weirdly understand Mallory and Albert's cruelty. They have goals and David's pain is incidental to it.

But it seems Madeline's is ultimately to hurt David for the sake of hurting him. It feels worse because she considers herself ethical while attempting to assassinate a innocent child to bring about the apocalypse.
