Arianne is the eldest daughter and the heiress of Doran Martell, the ruling Prince of Dorne, and his consort, Lady Mellario of the Free City of Norvos, and sister of Quentyn and Trystane Martell.
Arianne is calculating, adventurous, and fierce-tempered. When she sees something she desires, she strives to obtain it at all cost. She does not shy away from using her looks to get what she wants, nor from seducing men to get them to do her bidding, occasionally granting sexual favors in this context. Arianne considers handsome men her one great weakness, in particular when they have an air of adventure and the forbidden.

The Prince of Dragonflies loved Jenny of Oldstones so much he cast aside a crown, and Westeros paid the price in corpses.
In 239 AC, while traveling in the riverlands, Duncan encountered and fell in love with and married a “strange, lovely, and mysterious” peasant woman known as Jenny of Oldstones.
King Aegon could not approve of the marriage of the heir to the throne to a commoner, and did all he could to have it undone, but Duncan stubbornly refused to put Jenny aside. Rather than give up Jenny, Duncan abdicated as Prince of Dragonstone, and gave up his claim to the throne in favor of his brother Jaehaerys.
Duncan’s spurned betrothed had been greatly grieved when he broke their betrothal. A short, bloody rebellion followed.
Eventually Jenny of Oldstones was accepted at court, where she was politely called “Lady Jenny”.
In 259 AC, Prince Duncan died in the Tragedy at Summerhall along with his father, King Aegon V Targaryen, his namesake Ser Duncan the Tall, and several other members of the royal court. It is unknown, whether Lady Jenny was among them.

Deria was the ruling Princess of Dorne during the reigns of King Aegon I and Aenys I Targaryen. She succeeded her father Prince Nymor and grandmother Princess Meria.
Deria was sent by her father at the head of a delegation to King's Landing, with the skull of the dragon Meraxes as a peace offer. Many at court took this act ill, including Queen Visenya and Lord Orys Baratheon. Deria assured King Aegon I Targaryen that Dorne wanted peace, but would not swear fealthy to the Iron Throne.
King Aegon agreed to the peace and signed a treaty. In 23 AC King Aegon and his eldest son Aenys flew to Sunspear on their dragons, Balerion and Quicksilver, to attend a "feast of friendship" hosted by Princess Deria to mark the ten year anniversary of the peace accords.
