Crossing the Rainbow Bridge

We came home to find Zoey the Floof had crossed the bridge. She had been struggling with heart worm since we adopted her. In the end the fight was just to hard even with medication. She is missed greatly. But we know she is not fighting anymore and is waiting for us with Trixie who crossed a year ago in February. We made what we didn't know were her last years as full of love and fun as we could. I will miss her silky silver hair and the tumble flooves she left behind in the wake of her zooms.

Ladies and Gentlemen are you out of shows to watch on Netflix?

Well let me introduce to you Quantum Leap. A show about scientist Sam Beckett who theorized that someone can time travel within their own lifetime and built a machine with self aware artificial intelligence called Ziggy, but something went wrong and now he leaps into other people’s lives to put right what once went wrong. The only person that can help him was a fellow observer of the project Al Calavicci, who uses alpha brain waves so Sam can see and here him. 

This show tackles hard questions as well as hard topics such as racism, feminism, civil rights, equal rights, immigration, teen pregnancy, ableism, and even rape. Some of the episodes are humorous and light, while others are heavy and serious, sometimes dark.  Some amazing episodes include:

S4:E4 “Justice” Where Sam leaps into a KKK member and has to save a young black civil leader’s life.

S4:E6 “Raped” Where Sam leaps into the body of a rape victim no one believes

S1:E4 “The Color of Truth” Where Sam leaps into a Southern black man who chauffeurs an elderly widow

S2:E11 “All Americans” Sam leaps into the body into a high-school quarterback who is the son of an immigrant

S2:E6 “Jimmy” Sam leaps into the body of a mentally handicapped man who can’t gain acceptance

S3:E5 “Black and White on Fire “ Where Sam leaps into an African-American medical student during the 1965 Watts Riots

S2:E4 “Good Morning, Peoria” Sam leaps into a disc jockey while conservatives try to block the station from playing rock ‘n’ roll.

S2:E2 “The Americanization of Machiko” Where Sam leaps into a sailor returning home from Japan, and has trouble having his family and community accept his Japanese wife

S1:E7 “What Price Gloria?” Sam leaps into the body of an intelligent and beautiful woman, but must deal with sexism from people as well as try to save her suicidal roommate

S1:E8 “A Portrait for Troian” Sam leaps into a psychic and must save a young widow from drowning at the same lake she lost her spouse

And that is just the tip of the iceberg. This show is amazing and tackles these subjects without beating around the bush, it’s an absolutely incredible show and has outstanding moral lessons. It’s a show worth watching.
