Review: Staedtler Triplus Fineliner

I received a pack of 20 of these lovely Staedtler Triplus Fineliner pens as part of my college kit in 2012. After all these years, this item is the first one that comes to mind when wanting to review key items in my art arsenal.

Cost

As these came into my life as part of my college equipment, I did not know the price until writing this review. It seems they’re quite reasonable, and easy to find! From the various packs I’ve seen, they come out to less than $1 a pen. Well worth it, in my opinion.

Pros

Long lasting product. My favourite pens are still working after six years. That’s impressive.

Smooth ink release, lovely flow.

Ink dries fairly quickly. Not the fastest of my inking pens, but definitely the fastest of my coloured pens.

Fun packaging that stands up. I kept, and used this case for years before finally assimilating my triplus pens in with the rest of my art supplies.

Cons

There were one or two in my set with the nibs broken, and scratchy. It seems I was the only one to experience this from those who also received the kits, so it must not be a common issue.

Final Thoughts

I love these pens, and have since the moment I got them. While researching for this review I saw just how easy they are to find, and how many colours they can be found in. That being said, don’t be surprised if I go grab myself the largest pack I can find ;)
