I absolutely adore book dedications, I hope one day I find someone I love enough to dedicate my work to

screaming at the top of my lungs
no body ever heard me
but now I whisper my words
and you answer, always so clearly

i forget sometimes how much it hurts
to put your trust in someone and have it thrown back in your face
I guess I’ll never learn how to be cautious

it’s strange that as we grow
we change things about ourselves we used to love

but i think i’ve finally leant
that just because i can't escape them
doesn't mean i have to care

Don’t get me wrong, I love sharing my poetry with you. But recently I’ve been kind of thinking about this. Because I’m scared that because of me posting my work, it will become a thing I do for others and not myself. I tend to fall into these kinds of patterns because I’m such a people pleaser, and I need a lot of validation. I still write for myself, to get my emotions and thoughts out of my body and turn it into art. It’s something I’ve always loved to do, and I will always love to do. So don’t worry, I won’t stop posting my writing. But this is definitely something that has been on my mind lately..can anyone relate?

I broke and you didn’t even notice
is my acting just that good
or do you just not care?
I’ll put myself back together again
but I won’t make those mistakes again

(life has been awful in lockdown and I took a lot of time to myself just working out what I wanted for myself and the direction my mental health was going was not good. I will be very on and off for the time being as I found myself spirally and my poetry and words taking some very dark turns so trying to do things that make me happier intentionally hope you all understand! - a.s)
