i made the executive decision to read the book only after i watched the new bridgerton season and I am so glad that I did. I see a lot of book readers are disappointed but because i watched first and read after i was able to appreciate both storylines of kate and anthony with no expectations of the show. I believe that when you view them as different things it makes it easier to enjoy and love both of them. Simone and Jonathan did an incredible job i loved it.

i really like this take. she caught herself in like episode 7 with mal when she said his name then rethought her choices. i would really enjoy this and i feel like it could have the same weight as the books did.

I’ve been trying to think of ways that scene at the end of R&R could play out on the show now that they’ve revealed the darkling’s name. 

So far the best I can come up with is that, from now on, Alina refuses to call him Aleksander. It’s like, she’ll pointedly call him the Darkling or sarcastically refer to him as “general”. Maaaybe as we get further into R&R territory we see her calling him Aleksander as a way to manipulate him. Maybe we even see him call her out on it like “you never use my name like you used to” kind of thing (and I can already see Ben playing that as seeing right through her but also being hurt)

And then at the end, when he asks her to say his name, it just might hold the same weight (or as close as they can get now) that it does in the book. She breaks an unspoken rule she made in order to distance herself, and she does it for him

it’s beyond annoying how they played off what happened between kirigan and alina as her being “lonely and stupid” because she didn’t have mal right there by her side constantly. like... please wtf is that.

YES EXACTLY. it’s much more intriguing for there to be one other person who can give u what ur lacking. there is a difference between “supposed” to be together and destined to be together.

I’m sorry, but just from a writing perspective, the whole “Two sides of the same coin” and “darkness / light” and everything that Darkling and Alina ARE is just– so much more intriguing to me, with its symbolism and the ability to be alone/not understood by anyone but ONE other person, etc… and the power that can give you, the feeling of belonging in a sense… 

Yeah, it’s better than anything else that might be “cute” 

I get why it goes the way it does, but still. That will always overpower “cuteness” for me.

something was bothering me for why i couldn’t force myself to ship malina. i saw something and i figured it out. I know about mal and alina together. that’s all i know. i don’t know much about alina. i felt like they spent so much time showing that field scene and how much they feel for each other that they missed a chance to really develop alina. that’s why i loved the little palace episodes because i feel that while her and the darkling’s relationship was developing alina herself was also developing. that was also further cemented when her powers grew when she severed the attachment with mal. i feel like when she’s with mal there is not much growth and that’s why the lines from kirigan make so much sense- “i see her for what she truly is”
