Hey folks, this is not your typical post about incorrect quotes.
I want to address a serious issue today, and most of you probably know what’s been going on in the US.
The killing of George Floyd started another serious and necessary debate on Police brutality in the states. (And I think not just there. Every country is affected in some way or another.)
My heart doesn’t ache, no. My heart is bleeding and crying out of pain about what has been going on for days now. What people have been going through for years and years. This is not the first case of police brutality against POC, nor the second, and it probably isn’t the last one.
It happened so many times already that I can’t count them all. Our world has lost so many beautiful souls to this never-ending issue. Additionally to this, we lost so many brothers and sisters of color who were part of the LGBTQ+ community too. Even though it is pride month, I can’t enjoy and celebrate it as much as I want to.
But now is the time to act. Now more than ever! We all have a voice, and I’m sure as hell using mine. And I want you to do the same.
40 Ways you can help right now shows you different techniques and approaches to support the #blacklivesmatter movement in various forms.
Everyone’s able to do something. Even if you don’t have the money to donate, or you’re not from the US, share articles, draw attention to it in some way. Being silent about this puts you on the side of the offenders.
I understand that I will never understand. However, I stand with all of you!!! Credit goes to @sfbucketlist on instagram for these 40 ways you can help right now.

How to Study!
Make a study guide with a mind map. Include the most important facts and then add details :)
Flash cards: use Quizlet to make digital flashcards (it even has other revision techniques), or write them out
Make a mini revision for yourself! Use online quizzes (quizizz) or write your own. Setting a time limit and avoiding your notes and phone will help
Plan your answers. Practice writing answers for different topics your studying (in your own words)
I like to get an empty piece of paper and write all my notes of formulas on it for each subject I do so I can tell what's most important
Then practice doing everything from memory without cheating and peeking at your notes - read over the chapter and make notes and then close it all and try to remember
that's all I have so I hope any of this helps :D

Les jours de la semaine - vocab
Lundi (m) - Monday
Mardi (m) - Tuesday
Mercredi (m) - Wednesday
Jeudi (m) - Thursday
Vendredi (m) - Friday
Samedi (m) - Saturday
Dimanche (m) - Sunday
le week-end (m) - the weekend
une semaine (f) - a week
example: Je vais à la plage samedi.
notice that it’s not sur samedi - just samedi. you also don’t use a capital letter for the week day unless it’s at the start of the sentence. le isn’t used because ‘on monday’ is being said. despite this, however, when meaning ‘on (day)’ as a habit you use the definite article le (le mercredi, je joue au basket).
example: Je déteste le lundi.
le lundi is being used even if the meaning of the sentence is ‘I hate mondays’. the day of the week is being used generally here.
example: Le mardi 9 novembre, j’ai eu quinze ans.
this is how to write the day of the month (le mardi 9 novembre - tuesday 9th of november)
let me know if there are any mistakes!

how to learn more french
Tumblr media
Reading a book or something you can read is a great way to be introduced to more vocabulary whilst seeing how much you know already...
step one. Read through a passage or paragraph - not an entire book but shorter sections. Don’t stop to research unfamiliar words, just keep reading to see if you can piece together the sentence.
step two. Write a list or highlight/ underline words or phrases that you don’t know or understand. You can do this either after or during reading.
step three. With French, a lot of words are similar to English so try to guess the meanings. This step could be done whilst reading the passage because it might just fit. Just remember that sentences can mean different things depending on its layout/ the certain words used.
step four. Google what the words/ phrases meant. If a word alone doesn’t make sense, try the whole sentence. Check if you guessed them right!
step five. Re-read the passage after learning/ memorizing the vocab.

étudiant vs élève
Both mean student, but how are they different?
élève is broader whilst étudiant is then more specific...
élève - a pupil, middle school student, high school student, college student, public/ private school student, (applies to anyone who is studying)
étudiant - college student, post-secondary student, (also a status of a worker/ retiree)
The difference is the level one is studying at.
All info came from here :))
