How hard is it for you to grasp that women should be allowed to choose what makes them comfortable without being told they’re harming feminism just by showing their legs?
And all you explained was bio essentialism and an ignorance about the difference between gender and biological sex
Things typically made for women (ex. high heels, bikinis, mini skirts) are designed to be impractical and humiliating btw. I don't think most people realize how demeaning they look, because we are so used to seeing them on women. We are so used to seeing women in the tiny micro thongs at the beach, having to be careful not to move around too much so that they don't accidentally flash everyone. All while men get to wear the comfortable, covering shorts, that allow them to move as much as they want, climb up rocks, and run without having to double-check whether their fucking balls are hanging out. The comparison looks ridiculous. Just another example of women having to perform in every aspect of their life, even when doing activities as innocent as swimming.

They’re humiliating because of men’s perceptions and viewpoints? How is that progressive?
Also gender is an established psychological construct, I am begging you to read any research on it.
“The World Health Organisation says of gender: Gender refers to the characteristics of women, men, girls and boys that are socially constructed. This includes norms, behaviours and roles associated with being a woman, man, girl or boy, as well as relationships with each other. As a social construct, gender varies from society to society and can change over time.”

Just because men define women only by reproduction, there’s no reason that we have to as well. By arguing that that is all that defines a woman you’re playing into that idea that that’s a woman’s only function.
Gender is also once again a social and psychological construct. If it’s in your head why does it have to link to physical sex?

Personally I don’t think that acting bigoted and ignorant towards certain groups of women helps feminism very much.
They said that mini skirts etc. were “designed to be humiliating”. Why are they humiliating in the first place?

Also if you simply define women by reproductive function, that’s incredibly regressive as it reduces women to being baby makers and it excludes infertile women, women who have had hysterectomies or women born without the same reproductive organs, which can happen.
Also, gender is something created by society, it’s separate to biological sex. It’s been established and proven to be psychological.

If you exclude trans women from your feminism you don’t support all women, so you’re not a real feminist.
You still didn’t answer why women’s bodies are something shameful to hide away. If I want to show my legs, because I like my body and I like my legs, who are you to tell me to cover myself instead based on the perceptions of men?

Gender is a psychological construct separate from sex. If you’re a terf you’re not a real feminist.
You also have zero understanding of what the mini skirt symbolised when it was first created by women.
You also can’t judge the motivations of every woman. You can talk about socialisation all you want, but if a woman feels empowered to show her body who are you to tell her that it’s oppressive? Why should women have to hide their bodies?

1. Trans women are women. Trans men are men. That’s it.
2. Why should a woman have to hide her body to fit your standards? Why do you assume she’s wearing what she wears for the sake of men?
3. You’re entirely ignoring the historical context and history of this that I posted. I started out by refuting the claim that these things were designed to be humiliating when the history says otherwise.

The mini skirt was designed by a woman, Mary Quant and was absolutely not designed to be humiliating. At the time it was made in the 1960s, along with other changing fashions, it was a symbol of liberation, freeing women, allowing them to move easily and show much more of themselves at a time when they were finally just starting to take steps out of being 50s housewives, although they still had a long way to go. Young women also popularised the mini skirt so they could dance more freely at a time when rock and roll was taking off. Generally, the invention of the mini skirt was a huge moment for women. High heels were also originally designed for men, so they were also not “designed to be humiliating”. The history of women’s fashion is so much more complex than what this post suggests. And while I’m at it the idea that women showing skin is inherently humiliating is a whole other rabbit hole…

I hope Andre knew how much joy he brought all of us 🥺❤️
Edit: Statement from Mike Schur and Dan Goor - “Like everyone who was fortunate enough to know Andre, we are heartbroken by the news of his passing. He was one of the most talented dramatic actors in history, and then he decided to try comedy, and he was instantly one of the funniest people ever to do it,” read the statement. “But even greater than his acting talent was the happiness and joy he brought to those around him. And his smile… he had the greatest, brightest, most wonderful smile. Our thoughts and love go to his beautiful, amazing family, whom he loved more than anything. We are grateful for the time we had with him.”
