I hope you didn’t think i forgot about you!

I’m still here, just remarkably busy with law school and life in general. How have you been? It’s been too long my friend.

We’ve known about each other for two years now, that’s crazy to think about.

I hope you’ve been doing well, and your hobbies are doing well. Like your garden! I’ve recently taken up italian for the last couple months, it’s been hard work but quite fun, i’ve always loved learning languages. Law school is going well, i’ve had final exams for the first semester, and now comes final exams for the second semester real soon. So exciting but also nerve-wracking.

I hope all is well with your health (both mental and physical), and that life is treating you well. If not then i truly hope it gets better.

Hey. I don't usually send this type of ask, but how's it going? Hope you're fine. I'm having a cold, but luckily it's not that bad.

Anyway, are you a professional writer? Because your writing seems so practised for a typical fanfic writer. For my personal experience, most of us in fandoms still go to school without any writing experience. Like you see fics which are grammatically incorrect, even at the simplest phrases. Of course those who have dyslexia are an exception.

Although I write since third grade I'd say I'm still a beginner, because those who are fully practised are the professionally published writers.

Hey Asraella. Sorry to bother you with my message. It's about a discussion I had in Reddit.

We all know L isn't a person he'd be considered good because of the things he's done to Misa, etc. He's presented as bad as Light which is a taboo topic for me to talk about.

I can't understand either fandom or my own feelings towards L. Like if we say he's as monster as Light, then we should stop loving and appreciating him as a character. And yet most people root for him. I personally believe he's gray when it comes to justice, but that doesn't mean he's a monster or something. He just tries to get his job done like any other detective. It's not like he'd be abusing in a relationship.

I don't know... Maybe I should stop liking L. I mean, he's my comfort character. I wouldn't want a comfort character to be evil or worse a monster. And to admit it, I'm generally a crybaby and a genuine soul when it comes to my personal life. It seems to have represented it in my fics or my headcanons.

I have so many thoughts on this. I will say that you can like whichever character you want and see them however you choose. Fandom does not dictate that, so let’s just get that out of the way.  You do NOT need to stop liking L or having him be your comfort character.

I feel like I talk about this so often that I’m becoming a broken record, but let’s go anyway.

I think L is often mischaracterized, mainly because he is working with the police and therefore is the good guy and if that’s the case he should act like the stereotypical hero. People forget though that he and Light are supposed to be opposite sides of the same coin, both taking extreme actions to get the result they want. It’s supposed to be two people equal in wits and intelligence going against one another to get to their end goal…not storytelling stereotypical good vs evil. The entire idea behind Death Note is grey. What is Justice and how far will you go just to win?

Whether you think what L did was wrong or not, I think if he was any different, the story would have suffered. Light needed a foil willing to take him on on his level and that is exactly what L was. Fans feel far less inclined or pressured to defend loving Light despite everything he does that is horrendous. That same curtesy should be extended to fans of every character, don’t you agree?

Life is oh so busy and emotional.

Law school is very busy and very much overwhelming. I’m finding myself to be constantly emotionally overstimulated and exhausted in every way possible. Don’t get me wrong, i’m lucky to be here and i’m proud of myself for getting here, and I am fully aware of the fact that I put myself in this position. But it is a big change that my body is not prepared to deal with.

So with that in mind, let’s do some distractions with some cool little anecdotes;

-On my second day of law school, I had a long gap between classes in which case I walked around town for a while. The pigeons in London are normally pretty ballsy in the sense that they don’t care about strangers, but this pigeon was a BIIIIIG boy. He was THICK and just vibing at the side of the road right next to a bunch of buses and cars as if people weren’t walking right next to him! I snuck a picture of it but it’s so blurry, but i’ve never seen a pigeon sit down before either so that was very fun.

-There was the absolute cutest dog in the train station the other day. It was the same breed of dog as my Nan’s, an adorable Border Terrier. Seeing it walk down the stairs to go into the station was so cute - you can have dogs on the train so long as they sit quietly and don’t disturb anyone. But it didn’t get on the same train as me (i think it and it’s owner just used the station to cross over to the other side of the street and avoid the traffic lights tbh) otherwise I totally would’ve asked to pet it. 10/10 highlight of my day.

Anyways! I hope these cheered you up, cause remembering them certainly cheered me up. I hope you are well, i hope life is treating you well.

Hello!

I start law school so very soon and I am kinda terrified. A lot is happening very fast but it’s okay.

I’ve picked up writing once more, I have a new laptop and so it’s easier to do. Sooooo i’ve taken to re-re-rewriting an old classic fanfic of mine from so many years ago. It always has a special place in my heart and i could never Give it all Up (nudge nudge wink wink)

Do you have any advise for me before I go into this new chapter of my life? I’m so very socially awkward and I’m going at this without any of my prior friends nor my boyfriend to be by my side, so it’s pretty intimidating. Of course this is what I wanted but naturally i’m a bit apprehensive to jump into the deep end so soon.

How have you been these past weeks? I hope easygoing. Find anything fun or interesting in the meantime?

I've been Ok. Just been working on my manuscript and in my free time working on my costumes and cosplays and playing FFXIV.

Law school is going to be so exciting! Even though it's all new, you're going to have so many opportunities ahead of you. Remember to enjoy all the new adventures ahead of you, not only with school but in other aspects of your life as well. Take every chance that comes your way, especially if it's something that will make you smile.
