I haven't posted in ages. I'm at a point in my recovery where I can't relate to my earlier memes anymore. I've stopped making them and will be leaving my page as-is.
If you've been diagnosed with BPD, I just want you to know that you're able to find stability in the right environment with the right people. It took me a lot of work, therapy, and an entire damn health team, but I'm looking at a future where my life isn't ruled by my emotions or dissociation or nightmares or self-harm. My career is flourishing, I have stable relationships, and most importantly I have self-respect for the first time in my life.
I don't meet the diagnostic criteria for BPD anymore. There's hope out there. Recovery is totally possible. Reach out if you want to chat about this.

Quick tip if you, like me, hold your trauma and anxiety in your body. Short little sayings to refocus my attention from my body tension to relaxing have been huge for me. They key is not letting your brain beat yourself up when you notice your tension.
My latest mantra is "notice and release." The saying helps me focus on what's important -- releasing tension -- without getting consumed by frustration and anxiety.
Be good to yourselves.
Notice and release.
Notice and release.
Notice and release.

One of the hardest parts of recovery has been learning to take up physical space again after making myself small my whole life
Something as simple as how im sitting in my car takes a bit of conscious effort to relax, but it's nice. And also kind of shocking to realize anxiety has been scrunching your body -everywhere all the time-

I don't want the people who have abused me to hurt. I want them to heal. I'm not even sure of the value of the 'abuser' designation, but it sure makes for a hell of a convincing way to destroy community connections. We need to maintain those connections to heal which can feel contradictory to some people's sense of justice.
Don't get me wrong: if it's not good for you to be around someone stay clear. If you need emotional support after an unexpected encounter with this person, heck yes I got you. But let's let other hurt people heal, too, even if it means admitting the humanity of those people.
I'm not just saying this as someone who has abused others or has endured abuse. We need to get better at understanding and honouring boundaries holistically: our own needs and others, together, even when those have to be at a healthy distance.

A Millenial Blessing
May your weed get you high as fuck
May you enjoy a small comfort without being harassed by a boomer
May your depression naps have pleasant dreams
May your landlord fuck off or at least fix the goddamn thing
May your boss finally praise you
May you do the thing before running out of spoons
Aw fuck

So...
...nagging someone with anxiety to do the thing until they relent and give in and actually do the thing doesn't mean you did them a favour. It means they'd rather deal with their heightened anxiety to shut you up and get you off their back. This isn't being a good friend. It's being manipulative and inconsiderate of an anxious person's needs.
