So earlier this week Amazon offered $100k to Seattle Pride to help fund the Pride parade but they wanted:

Featuring Amazon’s logo prominently along the parade route

Ensuring that logo would be first and larger than other corporate partners on promotional materials

Allowing an Amazon leader to make remarks at the parade

And naming the event “Seattle Pride Presented By Amazon”

They wanted to name it after them, y'all. I just...I canNOT with that.

Seattle Pride told them no, and cut ties with them. Also:

Ahead of this year’s parade scheduled for June, Seattle Pride is requiring all corporate partners to participate in a diversity, equity and inclusion survey and evaluation process. That process is part of a larger movement around the country to prevent corporations from making what Seattle Pride described as “token gestures,” rather than actively supporting members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

i thought i would make a post about the sickening actions of the met police recently that have once again come to light to prove that they’re some of the scummiest people alive, and im not sure this has made it to tumblr yet.

a 15 year old black schoolgirl was strip searched at school due to teachers believing they smelled weed on her. the met police did this strip search without an appropriate adult present, and the search which involved exposing the victims intimate body parts happened while she was on her period and with knowledge of that.

they made her remove her sanitary pad, bend over and spread her legs while coughing. they didn’t let her use the bathroom, even though she asked to.

a 15 year old girl.

no drugs were found on her.

family members have spoken out explaining that she went from a “happy go lucky girl to a timid recluse who hardly speaks.” she’s also in therapy, due to instances of sh after this brutal and degrading strip search.

this is no doubt a racist occurrence, with the met police at the forefront of it. however, the school is also facing backlash due to teachers not protecting their students, especially students who are more likely to be exposed to racism by the police and others. this whole thing reeks of racism, and the pure injustice and cruelty is insane. she’s a child. a child who didn’t have any drugs on her and was humiliated in front of two officers.

this is so disgusting and just a reminder that we cannot leave the BLM movement in 2020 or 2021. this is not a trend, it’s not a cute hashtag you can use when you want to drop one insta story and never speak on something again. these are real lives being altered forever, and that’s when these don’t end with murder, we’ve seen it so many times and it’s enough. the met police need a serious change, defund them, burn everything to the ground tbh. this can’t be reformed. it has to be torn apart and built up again because the met police have shown time and time again that racism and mistreatment of human beings is so inherently within their officers and workforce.

nothing angers me more than the amount of young gays who are erasing the rainbow flag to replace it with the new mlm flag. like, if you personally want to use an mlm flag go ahead idc but so many people are really out here ignoring the history and significane of the rainbow flag, which was literally made by a gay man. also angering is just how much people try to divide up the lgbt community into ever smaller subgroups instead of focusing on the point that its supposed to be a community.

The demonization of actual charities/orgs in favor of individual GFMs has done nothing but stripped marginalized people of their privacy + dignity by forcing them to become internet celebrities in order to get their needs met as opposed to an org that could privately help them if said org had the funding!!!! Our Japanese class found it funny that in common terminology "food" isn't very distinguished from specifically "rice" until it was pointed out to us that in English "meal" is "loose roughly ground grain"
