Monday, April 22nd is Earth Day! Join us in learning more about reducing the use of plastics. One major concern is microplastics and how they affect ocean animals and our bodies.
Microplastics are tiny plastic particles, often less than 5 millimeters in size, that come from the breakdown of larger plastic items or are intentionally manufactured for products like microbeads in personal care products. They pose a significant threat to marine life, as they can be ingested by marine animals, leading to physical harm, blockages in their digestive systems, and even death.
Additionally, microplastics can absorb and concentrate toxins, which can then accumulate in the food chain, potentially impacting human health as well. Reducing plastic consumption and improving waste management are crucial steps in addressing this issue.

We are advocates for a lifestyle that includes outdoor living. Here are a few of our favorite health benefits that come with spending time in serene oases:
1. Stress Relief: The gentle sound of flowing water has a remarkable ability to melt away stress and anxiety. It's like hitting the reset button for your mind and spirit.
2. Improved Air Quality: Fountains help to humidify the air, reducing dust and pollutants, and creating a fresher, cleaner environment.
3. Mental Clarity: Being surrounded by nature and the calming presence of water can enhance focus and mental clarity.
4. Relaxation and Meditation: Courtyards with fountains provide the perfect backdrop for relaxation and meditation. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and let the worries of the day drift away.
The next time you're feeling overwhelmed or just need a moment of tranquility, seek out nature or your own courtyard with a fountain.

An eco-conscious design and its natural beauty. This courtyard embodies sustainability at its core. Recycled materials, such as repurposed stones and pea gravel, mold the foundation for this driveway courtyard, reducing our ecological footprint while adding character and charm.
Native plants thrive, requiring minimal water and maintenance, while also providing habitat for local wildlife. Pea gravel allows rainwater to collect underground aiding the environment for all.
More than just a beautiful retreat, our sustainable courtyard is a testament to our commitment to the environment, where every element is thoughtfully chosen to minimize impact and maximize harmony with nature. Join us in embracing a greener future, one courtyard at a time.

Centuries ago, lavender's allure transcended mere beauty. Revered for its medicinal properties, it found a place in ancient rituals, royal gardens, and monastery plots. In the sun-drenched fields of Provence, nestled amid the rolling hills of southern France, it became synonymous with the essence of the region—a sensory melody immortalized by artists and poets.
As time marched forward, lavender's significance only deepened. Medieval monasteries became bastions of lavender cultivation, where monks tended to its delicate blooms and distilled its essential oils for both spiritual and practical purposes. From soothing headaches to repelling pests, lavender's versatility made it indispensable in an age where natural remedies reigned supreme.
Today, as we wander through these storied fields, we are reminded of lavender's enduring legacy, as a testament to humanity's enduring quest for beauty, healing, and connection with the natural world.

From the majestic walls of ancient civilizations to modern-day outdoor entertaining areas, natural stone has been a cornerstone of landscape design for centuries. Its rugged beauty and enduring durability have stood the test of time, shaping the way we interact with and appreciate outdoor environments.
Throughout history, civilizations around the world have utilized natural stone to create awe-inspiring structures that blend seamlessly with their surroundings. From the Great Wall of China to the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu, these monumental feats of engineering showcase the versatility and timelessness of stone as a building material.
In contemporary landscape design, natural stone continues to play a central role in creating inviting and functional outdoor spaces. Whether it's building retaining walls to terrace sloping terrain, crafting intimate seating areas for alfresco dining, or constructing dramatic focal points like water features, the possibilities are endless.

Grape arbors and pergolas date back to ancient civilizations, symbolizing abundance and prosperity. In Ancient Rome, these structures adorned luxurious villas for social gatherings.
During the Middle Ages, the Moorish influence of open courtyards helped lay the foundation for the iconic Spanish patio design. This influence led to the creation of outdoor entertaining areas featuring intricate grape pergola designs and grape arbors.

If you have ever visited the museum or Jim & Rob’s in Ojai, you might have noticed black and white photos of the valley as a cowboy town complete with horses and buggies. The name Ojai derives from the Chumash Native Americans and is translated as, “Moon” or “Nest.”
The landscape design of this home brings us back to our roots. Natural stonework and original stucco elements are reminiscent of the old days, enhancing the beauty of the exterior and in harmony with nature. Even the succulent details give the ambiance a modern twist, while contrasting their lively colors through the rockwork textures.
