The more I think about the last part of the S5 finale, the more I really love how White Diamond is set up as a villain.

Like, she feels like an emotionally abusive mother figure, to the point that I have no doubt that's intentional.

Saying she knows best, turning Steven's family over to her side, all their voices united against him, telling Steven to stop pretending and come around to her way of thinking.

Her making him doubt his very existence and identity, who he really is, making him actually think he is Pink Diamond, rather than who he truly is.

To the point that she literally physically rips him apart, so he's in two halves, unable to even support himself at all.

Like, White Diamond's actions and who she is are so malicious, both on a grand scale as the dictator she is, but also on such a personal scale with how she treats Steven and how her family is shown to fear her.

I also do not get people who say she's forgiven at the end of the series, I did not get that impression at all, it feels more like, to paraphrase what I saw someone else say, an uneasy alliance.

Like, I don't feel like she's forgiven for what she's done, it's just that Steven is holding her accountable for what she's done and making her fix what she did to the Earth.

I haven't seen the movie or SU Future, yet. but I doubt that will change.

The Guttermen from Ultrakill have me so fucked up. The mannequins.. are also really bad but the Guttermen have more possible implications.

The people inside the Guttermen… they didn’t just take random people they took deserters, war prisoners, and people returning from battle. They saw people from their own side not only as completely disposable but maybe thought this was even more economical?. It’s possible, a motivation for creating the Guttermen/powering machines on blood in the first place would be to punish deserters.

Seeing how in real life deserters and draft dodgers have been looked down upon I think it may be safe to assume self-righteous motivation. In forcing people to contribute to war in such a vicious and inhumane way.

Secondly to dispose of war prisoners and make a gain from that since they definitely had zero intentions on negotiating, and feeding them may have been see as a waste.
