Seeing some of the outfits people put this character in made me realize it had been awhile since I've drawn the Riddler in casual clothes. And since I didn't draw the tattoo (though I'm not opposed to pretending he covered it with makeup in that one) in the picture where he's talking with 60s Riddler, I wanted to include it here.

In my mind, he's waiting to meet up with someone. Though I never quite settled on who.

AITA for not doing more to stop my friends' plan to sabotage someone?

Gonna be pretty long, apologies.

Recently, my (28M) best friend (24M) returned from a few months' work trip (he's a sailor). He's (we'll call him 'D') never really liked the first mate of the ship he works on ('E'), because E is just 19, and the owner of the trading company they work for absolutely loves him. The kid also happens to be my downstairs neighbor, and I've always had a soft spot for him, but I always play along and let D vent about him.

The first thing D did when he got back was meet up with me, as always, so we went to get some drinks and catch up. And as we were talking, this other guy I know walked by looking absolutely miserable. He'll be 'F' (M, early 20's). I invited him over to our table, and asked what was going on. Apparently, E had just finalized wedding plans with his fiancee, someone who F has made no secret of being in love with, and that was getting to him.

Now, I'll admit, I'm a heavy drinker, and I was already a bit more than tipsy at this point. That'll be relevant. So, D and F get to complaining between themselves about E, and they're getting really deep into it. At one point, D starts telling F about some shady stuff that E got involved in on behalf of the captain of their ship, who'd passed away during this mission - making E the new captain, which was also bugging D quite a bit. And he's saying something about reporting E for treason, and going so far as to write up a letter.

So, I usually don't protest when they're talking bad about E, but this seemed a little much. I told them to knock it off, but D assured me they weren't actually serious, poured me another glass of wine, and crumpled up the letter and tossed it away. After that, I pretty much didn't think anything else of it, since we started talking about something else, and I was very drunk.

Here's where the problem happens, at the wedding feast for E and his fiancee.

In the middle of the party, it gets crashed by a whole bunch of police, who arrest E. And D, who I came there with, takes me aside before I can step in, because I realized that F must have picked that letter back up and actually sent it. But D told me that it would all blow over, and it would just complicate things if I involved myself. And I trusted him.

But it's been days now, with no word of any kind, and everyone's been extremely worried. I'm absolutely crushed, because it's starting to look like I could have prevented all of this. AITA for my inaction? I really thought I was picking the best option.

This might be controversial but I have absolutely zero trust in allo people when they make posts about how aspec people (and fictional characters) can still date and have sex. Maybe it's from the years of horrific aphobic "discourse" but it still feels like a lot of allo people see aspec identities as something negotiable or just generally less important than other orientations, as opposed to aspec people who often make those statements out of our experiences with our own identities and with our communities.

This is a long and convoluted way of saying that I really am only interested in seeing those posts from other aspec people, including in conversations about fictional characters.
