Happy slightly belated 6th anniversary, Sonic IDW! To celebrate, it's time for me to get into Issue 3 of Fang the Hunter!

After being saved by Eggman, he asks Fang, Bean, and Bark why they were in Newtrogic High Zone, and Fang tells him about their search for the eighth Chaos Emerald...

Eggman of course doesn't believe him, but he takes the suprise meeting with them as an opportunity to hire them to find a ship of his that went missing and was piloted by the Hardboiled Heavies and could be powered by the supposed Chaos Emerald (...gee, I wonder which ship that could be? :3).

Back at Tails' lab, he begins working on a tracker to find the disappearing ship they saw earlier, although Sonic doesn't want to keep waiting for it to be finished.

While Tails is still working though, Fang manages to track down the ship, and he, Bean, and Bark board it and begin searching for the Emerald. What they find however is none other than the Warp Topaz, and it's revealed that the Hardboiled Heavies found it and used it to take control of the ship.

And that's it for Issue 3 of Fang the Hunter! We also got some covers and the solicits for both Issue 70 and a one-shot called Spring Broken, which are both set to come out in June...

Welcome back, race fans! Extreme gear engines are revving as we prep for the second leg of the Clean Sweepstakes! But there's drama on the track! As Tails and Amy go to investigate a mystery of their own, only Sonic is left to answer the question, who is the Phantom Rider?!

Spring has sprung! The flowers are in bloom, and so is trouble! When Sonic, Tails, and friends try to take some downtime, they run into a mystery that's spring broken! A seasonal whodunit in the Sonic style!

Issue 2 of Fang the Hunter is out, so I'll get right into it!

After Bean and Bark have been captured by Knuckles and Fang is left to continue avoiding Knuckles' traps and save them, he ends up going to Sandopolis Zone and begins fighting Knuckles.

Meanwhile, Sonic and Tails are persuing the mysterious ship that Tails mentioned last issue, but it disappears just as they find it.

Back on Angel Island, Fang AND KNUCKLES' fight ends up leading them to where Knuckles was keeping Bean and Bark, and they join the fight once Fang has set them free.

With it now being a 3 v. 1, Knuckles gives up on fighting them, and Fang reveals that they're looking for the eighth Chaos Emerald, which like Sonic, Knuckles doesn't believe exists.

With them not getting any info from Knuckles, Fang decides to go to the last lead he has, which is in Newtrogic High Zone, which has been long since abandoned following the events of Knuckles' Chaotix. The place is so dilapidated that it begins to flood while Fang is trying to get information from it's computer, but Eggman swoops in at the last second and grabs them with the combi catcher.

That's it for Issue 2 of Fang the Hunter, but we also got the covers and the solicit for Issue 69 of the main series, which is set to come out in May...

HAPPY FIRST POST OF 2024! (yes, I know it's already February :3)

Anyway, both Issue 68 and Issue 1 of Fang the Hunter came out in the past month, so I'll talk about both of those, starting with Issue 68!

Sonic is helping Tails test out a new extreme gear he's been working on as well as find a Chaos Emerald, but the two accidentally stumble upon (as well as into) an unknown cave system.

There isn't a way out for the two of them in sight, but Tails picks up the Chaos Emerald nearby on his Miles Electric pad, so they begin exploring the cave to find both it and an exit before stumbling upon a big open area with the Chaos Emerald waiting for them.

The Chaos Emerald and the cave itself are being guarded by a giant salamander however, so Sonic has to evade him while Tails comes up with an idea to make him stop attacking...

The salamander then agrees to show them the exit, and Sonic closes it behind them upon their escape to make good on their promise to help keep the cave safe.

Moving over to Issue 1 of Fang the Hunter, it starts with Fang, Bean, and Bark attempting (...and failing) to beat Sonic.

After their defeat, Fang reveals that they were planning to get info from him on a supposed eighth Chaos Emerald, but Sonic doesn't believe them, and they decide to leave.

Tails then shows up and tells Sonic about a mysterious flying battleship, and the two go out to find out what's going on with that.

While they're doing that, Fang, Bean, and Bark end up going to Angel Island to see if they can get info on the eighth Chaos Emerald from Knuckles, but he's nowhere to be seen, so they begin exploring Mushroom Hill to find him.

The three get split up however, and it's revealed that Knuckles is in fact there and keeping a close eye on them, and he manages to trap both Bean and Bark, leaving Fang alone to fend for himself.

And that's it for both Issue 68 and Issue 1 of Fang the Hunter!

Also, it's been confirmed that we won't be getting any more issues of the mainline series until after the conclusion of Fang the Hunter, and Issues 2 and 3 of Fang the Hunter are currently set to come out the 28th of this month and the 20th of next month with Issue 4 also being set to come out in April, so we probably won't see Issue 69 until April or May at the earliest.

It took me a bit again, but it's time for me to talk about Issue 67! Also, Christmas is tomorrow! Yay!

So Sonic is hanging out at Restoration HQ when all of a sudden, he sees Surge and Kit sitting there with Amy.

Amy explains that Surge and Kit showed up and have seemingly turned over a new leaf and want to join the Restoration, but we learn that they're actually there as part of Clutch's scheme to take control of them from the inside.

Sonic and the Resoration are still unaware of the true nature behind Clutch's plan and Surge and Kit's appearance though, so they decide to let them join, and after giving the two a tour of their headquarters, Sonic and Amy decide to ask the Diamond Cutters if they want to add Surge and Kit as members to their group.

While Whisper is at first against them joining and is going to be keeping a close eye on them, everyone else agrees to let Surge and Kit join the Diamond Cutters, and Duo (aka Mimic in disguise) leads them over to their living quarters where the three can have a private chat...

That's it for Issue 67, as well as the series' 2023 releases as a whole!

Issue 66 is out, so it's time for me to get into it!

The Chaotix begin fighting the Babylon Rogues to take back the stolen relics and stop their meeting, and they manage to overpower them and take back both relics.

While Jet denies knowing the identity of the person they were supposed to meet up with and give the relics to, Knuckles doesn't really care about that and is satisfied with simply getting the relics back, and the Chaotix are late for their date with Vanilla and Cream anyway, so they leave things at that. However, it's later revealed that Jet actually did know who they were going to give the relics to, and that person is Clutch, who is also now openly working alongside the Restoration to continue steering them towards his own ambitions.

Meanwhile, back at Cream and Vanilla's place, Cream, Gemerl, and Cheese and Chocola are still fending off against Rough and Tumble, and while Cream tries to keep everything tidy and on schedule for her and her mother's meeting with the Chaotix, things aren't going too well for her.

...that is, until Vanilla shows up and single-handedly stops the entire conflict.

Lesson learned, never mess with this bunny mom or her daughter ever again.

The Chaotix then show up and are surprised to see Rough and Tumble there too, but having learned their lessons, they're invited to join everyone else when they order more food.

...you know, this series has been going for over five and a half years, and I'm pretty sure this is the first time Rough and Tumble have ever had a happy ending :3

Also, that's it for Issue 66, but while we're on the topic of obscure Sonic characters I really like getting what they deserve...

We're getting a Fang miniseries featuring Team Hooligan, and the first issue of it is set to come out in January!

And he's going to track this treasure down with a little help from his gang, Bark the Polar Bear and Bean the Dynamite! First stop: That Chaos Emerald expert himself, Sonic the Hedgehog! Both Issue 65 and the Halloween special came out a few days ago, and while I once again won't really be talking about the Halloween special, I will jump right into Issue 65!

So Knuckles finds the Babylon Rogues hanging out where he and Amy left the relic from earlier, but they end up beating him and taking it as well as the one that goes with it.

Unsure of where they went or what they're planning to do with them, Knuckles ends up going to the Chaotix to ask them to help him look for them, and they agree as long as they can finish in time to go to Vanilla and Cream's place after.

Vector deduces that since they first found the relic at the Eggperial City that the Babylon Rogues must have stolen it back for him, but when they go to Eggman's base to get them both back, he informs them that that is in fact not the case...

Later, Espio and Charmy get a lead to where the Babylon Rogues will be meeting their client to deliver the goods, and they're ready to intercept them before the meeting can take place.

Meanwhile, Vanilla and Cream are getting ready for their dinner with the Chaotix, but Vanilla sees that they've run out of butter and decides to leave for a little bit to get some more, leaving Cream to take care of the food while she's away. However, lurking in the bushes outside are a certain duo of skunk boys who are getting ready to cause hijinks...

Rough and Tumble then break into their house, but Gemerl finds them and starts fighting them before they take notice of Cream's presence and decide to take her hostage... just as the stove begins to engulf in flames.

And that's it for Issue 65!

It took me a month to do this again :(

I haven't really been able to talk about everything that's been coming out lately for a variety of reasons, and I'm not gonna be talking much about the Endless Summer or 900th Adventure specials in this one (although I do recommend checking them out if you're interested), but I'm finally able to at least talk about Issues 63 and 64, so I'll get right into it!

So the Diamond Cutters are on their way to a training session when they accidentally bump into Silver on their way out, and he ends up coming with them...

Duo (aka Mimic) sabotages Silver while he's using his powers, causing some rocks to fall towards the others as a giant fish badnik shows up, and both Duo and Silver get seperated from the others while trying to fend off against the badnik.

Duo then reveals his true nature to Silver by leaving him behind when he needs to be saved, but he manages to save himself and tries to convince the rest of the team that Duo's up to something, which Lanolin isn't too happy about.

Whisper however also notices that something's up, so she decides to help Silver figure out what Duo's up to and possibly stop him.

Meanwhile, Sonic and Blaze are hanging out in Spagonia!

Moving over to Issue 64, Whisper tells Silver about Mimic and how she thinks Duo might be him in disguise, but when the two are spying on him to confirm whether or not it's true, Silver gets their cover blown pretty much instantly.

They then get into a fight about whether or not they need to do something about Duo, and Duo takes the opportunity to slip away from the crowd, only to be chased and caught by Silver. Duo then gets the idea to utilize the situation to make it look like Silver hurt him, and it gets everyone's attention and changes Whisper's mind about him being Mimic.

Later, Jewel goes to the infirmary where Duo is now recovering, and with him now injured, she suggests he help her with her work in the office, and he agrees with the intent of making use of it for his and Clutch's scheme.

Silver then runs into Blaze and Sonic while he's hanging out at his and Blaze's garden, and Blaze convinces him to see more of what the present has to offer with her.

And that's it for Issues 63 and 64!

Also, in addition to the Amy 30th Anniversary special and the Halloween special we'll be getting this and next month, another special was revealed for December called Winter Jam...

Sonic and pals are getting into the spirit of the holidays with fun, food, and plenty of snow! But when Dr. Eggman's robots start making trouble, the gang find themselves in a real Winter Jam!

Sorry it took me an entire month to get to Issue 62, but I’m finally able to talk about it (and all the other stuff that got revealed between last time and now), so I’ll get right into it!

So Amy decides to take that relic Rouge found back to Knuckles on Angel Island, and the two set out to put it back in its rightful place together (which they succeed in doing).

Meanwhile, Clutch calls Mimic over and proposes a plan to him involving him sneaking into Restoration HQ and gathering materials and weapons from Eggman’s broken bots, and he accepts the offer.

Later, a guy named Duo walks into Restoration HQ and requests to join the new Diamond Cutters team while they were already talking about adding new members, so they decide to give him a chance, unknowing of the fact that Duo is actually Mimic in disguise!

That’s it for Issue 62, but we got quite a few solicits in the past month, including Issues 65 and 66 as well as small teasers for Issues 67 and 68, which are set to come out in September, October, November, and December...

The misadventures continue! It's Knuckles vs. the Babylon Rogues! They have stolen a relic from Angel Island, so Knuckles enlists the Chaotix to track them down. But the Chaotix have a super important date to keep: dinner with Vanilla and Cream! The pair are busy preparing when they get two very unexpected and stinky visitors...

Knuckles will stop at nothing to get the Angel Island relic back from the Babylon Rogues! The Chaotix will stop at nothing to help Knuckles! Except maybe a dinner invitation from Cream and Vanilla, who are busy fighting their own battle after a pair of unexpected guests stop by. I really hope they don't ruin the beautiful gelatinous dishes Cream and Vanilla worked so hard to make!

Surge & Kit return...to join the Restoration?!

It was also revealed that we’ll be getting an Amy 30th Anniversary special in September as well as a Halloween special in October, and we may or may not also be getting a Knuckles (...and Fang!) 30th Anniversary special next year.

Cool, sweet, and pink! All words that describe our absolute favorite hedgehog. That's right, step aside, Sonic, and have no fear, Amy Rose is here! Ian Flynn, Aaron Hammerstrom, and Reggie Graham are back for another Classic Sonic special! And this time, Amy’s doing the saving! After Metal Sonic interupts her picnic, Amy uses her Fortune Cards as a guide to free her friends and stop Dr. Eggman. Can she save the day and still get back in time for tea?!

Trick or treat, it’s Charmy Bee...t! It's "A Very Chaotix Halloween" as Vector and Espio take their little buddy out in search of sweet rewards. Little do they know, there's a monster stealing candy from all the kids! Fortunately, there's no mystery the Chaotix Detective Agency can't solve, especially when they've got a little help from Sonic and Tails!

We also got the full list of everyone doing covers and writing stories for 900th Adventure, and in addition to Richard Elson doing a cover for it, it’s also been revealed that one of Sonic the Comic’s main writers Nigel Kitching will also be writing a story for it, which is also really cool.

Issue 61! It’s here! WOOOOOO!

So Sonic and the gang are still fighting Metal Sonic and Eggman in his control tower, and after Tails overloads the crystals’ power, Eggman takes the opportunity to catch Sonic in another one of his machines.

Congratulations! Sonic was caught!

Everything then looks bleak with Sonic caught and Tangle in Eggman’s clutches, but then Whisper and Lanolin make a surprise entrance...

Meanwhile, Silver is still trying to get Shadow out of his crystal cage, and a pep talk from the former is enough for Shadow to break himself out.

We then find out that the power outage earlier was what caused Whisper and Lanolin to finally break out of Eggman’s trap, and that also means Sonic is out too for some reason! YEAH!

Sonic and pals then begin trying to escape from the city while evading Metal Sonic, and they regroup with Silver, Blaze, and Team Dark, and Shadow uses Chaos Control to teleport the crystals to be used against Eggman. The city’s about to explode from all the crystals’ energy, so he uses Chaos Control again to teleport everyone out before it blows.

Later, everyone decides to relax and eat some cake, and Amy finds out that Rouge stole what appears to be an Echidna artifact from the city, so she takes it from her to give to Knuckles.

And that’s it for Issue 61!

Issue 60 is out, so let’s get into it!

Tangle meets up with the others after escaping from Eggman and tells them about what happened at the control tower, but Metal Sonic shows up, and Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Tangle start running away from him while making their way back to the control tower.

While they’re doing that, Silver, Blaze, and Rouge go back to find Shadow and Omega, and when they find them, they see that the area around them has changed, and Shadow is trapped behind some of the crystals powering the city.

Silver then tries to use his own powers to get to Shadow, but when it seems he’s unable to do anything, Blaze reassures him and he continues to try it anyway.

The others then make it to the control tower, and while Sonic and Amy are having a hard time beating Metal Sonic and Eggman, Tails takes the opportunity to disable the city’s power intake limiter, which makes the crystals grow too powerful...

That’s all for Issue 60, but we also got some covers as well as the solicit for not only Issue 64, but also two one-shots called Endless Summer and 900th Adventure, all three of which are set to come out in August...

This issue is all about Silver the Hedgehog! First, he's incredibly suspicious of the Diamond Cutter's new member and he jumps to a conclusion that leads him to some hasty accusations. Awkwardness ensues. Then, Blaze comforts Silver as they bond over being away from home and in Sonic's world.

We’re bringing you an endless summer with everyone’s favorite characters in four unique one-shots! Wave goodbye to the office and say hello to the beach! Sonic drags Jewel on a well-deserved beach day to spend time with her besties, Tangle and Whisper! But when they all settle in for some rest and relaxation…they realize the Babylon Rogues had the same idea… at the same beach. The only way to settle this is with a totally tubular beach showdown!

Saving the world is a piece of cake when you're a speedy blue hedgehog. And Sonic is about to go on his 900th world-saving adventure! Sonic and his friends are playing a game of hot potato! Only the potato is the Warp Topaz and it could warp the whole world into oblivion. The gang is passing off the Warp Topaz in a relay race to get rid of it once and for all.

900th Adventure is also a special issue marking the 900th issue of all three main Sonic comics, including IDW, Archie, and Sonic the Comic and all their specials and one-offs, and one of Sonic the Comic’s artists Richard Elson will also be doing a cover for it, which is pretty cool.

Issue 59 is out!

So Sonic and the gang meet up with Team Dark, but after they talk for a bit, the two groups split up for the time being, and after doing so, Eggman releases Shadow Androids to attack them all.

Tangle, Whisper, and Lanolin have also snuck into Eggman’s control tower and are watching as he releases the Shadow Androids, which unsurprsingly isn’t a fun experience for Whisper...

After Sonic and crew fight the Shadow Androids for a bit, they regroup with Team Dark, and Tails suggests that Shadow uses the power of Eggman’s artificial crystals to use Chaos Control to beat them.

However, the distorted energy of the crystals causes Shadow’s power to overload, so everyone else runs away for the time being, leaving Shadow and Omega behind. This also causes the city’s power to temporarily shut down, but Eggman is able to quickly turn it back on. A bit of a side effect of this however is that it allows Eggman to see Tangle, Whisper, and Lanolin even though they still can’t directly interact with him, and he pulls out an invention of his to capture Whisper and Lanolin, but Tangle manages to escape.

That’s it for Issue 59, but we also got the covers as well as the solicit for Issue 63, which is set to come out in July...

Stuck in the past with no clear directive, Silver decides to spend some time with the Diamond Cutters and their new member. But he’s too busy being star-struck over Whisper to notice that he’s interrupting their training! Elsewhere, Sonic takes Blaze sightseeing so she can enjoy her vacation.

We got a couple covers as well as the solicit for Issue 62, which is set to come out in June!

With Dr. Eggman and Surge subdued for now, Sonic and friends have a chance to relax, reset, and plan for the future. Join us for a set of misadventures in our brand-new story arc, starting here in issue #62 and running full speed through #66! First, Amy visits Knuckles on Angel Island to return a relic. The island, as always, has a few surprises in store for them for them as they catch up. Meanwhile, Mimic is putting together the purrfect disguise to infiltrate the Restoration.

We also got the 5th Anniversary Edition special yesterday, and while I don’t really have a whole lot to say about it since it’s mostly a reprint of the first issue of the series, they did include a small new story in it with Sonic reuniting with the first guy he saved in that issue, which is pretty cool.

Issue 58 is out, so I’ll jump right into it!

So while Tails, Amy, Silver, and Blaze join Sonic in the battle in Eggperial City, Tangle, Whisper, and Lanolin are stuck in a state where they’re still in the city but can’t be noticed by everyone else due to Eggman’s portal. Lanolin doesn’t take it too well and begins to blame herself for them ending up in this situation, but Tangle gives her a pep talk and makes her feel better. Whisper then confronts Tangle about her decision to name the team after her old team, and this is when things get... a little weird?

When Whisper says she’s the only one not trying to help everyone, I think what they were going for was her realizing that her leaving the Restoration to go chase down Mimic was pulling her away from protecting her friends from other threats, but she comes to the conclusion that she herself is a bad teammate and friend despite her working with them pretty well in the last issue and still trying to help Sonic and Tails fight Surge in the last arc, even during her search for Mimic. To me, it kinda feels like she’s apologizing for the wrong thing here, because she was still doing what she was doing to help everyone else and has been continuing to help everyone who has supported her, but the real issue that led Tangle to try to get closer to her upon them reuniting and accidentally overstepping a bit was Whisper purposefully distancing herself from her, so she should be apologizing for that and become more willing to tell Tangle what’s going on instead of apologizing for being a bad teammate. That’s why even though I liked the setup for this little development between the two of them, I can see why a lot of other readers haven’t been too happy about how it concluded.

After this though, Lanolin comes up with a plan to make the best of their situation, and Whisper suggests to follow through with said plan to get into the city’s control tower.

Meanwhile, Sonic and the gang are busy fighting while Tails does his science stuff, and he eventually figures out that the crystals used to power the city are actually artifical Chaos Emeralds...

...and then Team Dark shows up!

And that’s it for Issue 58!

Sorry it took me a couple weeks to get to this one, but I’m finally ready to get into Issue 57!

After finishing off the battle with Surge and Kit, Sonic as well as Jewel, Tangle, Whisper, and Lanolin (who’s now a full-fledged character!) direct their attention to the Eggperial City...

Also, this is the first time Tangle and Whisper have been together since Whisper left the Restoration, and there seems to be some tension brewing between the two due to Whisper purposefully distancing herself from Tangle (probably due to fear of losing her again after the Metal Virus arc happened and Mimic being on the loose again, not helped by her Wisps getting kidnapped in the last arc) and Tangle unknowingly crossing some boundries that are setting off some triggers for Whisper.

The group then goes to the Eggperial City to figure out why it’s growing and repairing itself and find a way to destroy it, but the mission isn’t going too well, and they find that the parts of it that were destroyed before have since been fixed.

They continue through the city to the network of tunnels underneath it and find that the city has in fact been pulling resources from below and has been using them to grow and repair itself. They then try to decide what to do next, but things get cut short when another one of Eggman’s portals opens up next to them and begins chasing them.

Tangle, Whisper, and Lanolin end up getting caught in the portal, but Sonic manages to get away and now has to wait for more help to arrive.

That’s it for Issue 57, but we also have the first preview page for Issue 58, which comes out on the 8th...

We also got the solicit for Issue 61, which is set to come out in May...

This is it! The end! (Of the arc, that is.) Everyone is focused on the central command tower: if that goes down, the city will fall. But are three teams enough to stop something it seems even Dr. Eggman can’t control?

Issue 4 of Scrapnik Island is out, so I’ll get right into it!

So Mecha Sonic turns on the machine to switch his and Sonic’s minds so he can escape Scrapnik Island, but the other Scrapniks have been watching them the whole time and jump in just in time to stop and destroy it before it finishes.

However, even though the process was cut short, it did manage to link Sonic and Mecha Sonic’s minds, so Sonic is able to hear what Mecha Sonic is thinking...

The two then proceed to fight for a while, and it eventually leads them to the island’s incinerator. And just when it seems like Mecha Sonic has given into his fate, Sonic convinces Mecha Sonic to move forward and break free of Eggman’s programming.

Tails and the other Scrapniks then swoop in to save the two of them, and after Sigma and Tails repair both Mecha Sonic and Mecha Knuckles, they finish repairing the Tornado so Sonic and Tails can leave.

And that’s it for Scrapnik Island! I once again don’t think I liked the setup and plot of this one as much as I did Tangle and Whisper and Bad Guys, but I still think it was really good and did a really good job incorporating characters and elements of the series that hadn’t been seen in a long time, and I also really liked it’s art and the way it built the atmosphere and tone.

We also got the solicit for Issue 60 of the main series, which is set to come out in April...

The battle rages on! But how do you fight a city?! Sonic and friends race to stop Eggperial City from expanding, badniks from attacking, and Dr. Eggman from…doing whatever it is Dr. Eggman does.
