the whole guilt-tripping language in posts about important topics paired with how I'm still getting bitches in my notes talking about why it's actually good to tell "bad" people to kill themselves continues to prove to me that a lot of people have absolutely no concept of social justice or activism outside of assuming the worst of and then viciously attacking strangers on the internet

I desperately wish people would start actually reading the AO3's TOS before confidently making 'user guides' to the AO3 that are just blatantly, flatly wrong.
Yes the AO3 has banned content. They do not allow anything that's illegal under US law - though US law, importantly, does not ban fictional depictions of things - and they do not allow any commercial content. That includes your ko-fi link, or mentions that you do fic commissions. If you do post fic commissions to AO3 and want to mention the commissioner, the fic is a 'request' from the commissioner. This protects the AO3 and you from copyright law.
No the AO3 is not 'a creative fanfiction archive'. It is a fandom archive. Your meta, insights, and theories are absolutely welcome and encouraged there. AO3 also encourages you to post other types of fanworks, like fan videos, podfics, and art, but unfortunately isn't able to natively host those like it does text, so fic has kind of become what it's known for. That absolutely does not mean that other types of fanwork aren't allowed, or are discouraged by the site culture! Anybody who tells you otherwise is just plain wrong!

Tumblr still isn't letting me send anything to anyone, so you get old-fashioned responses like the geriatrics we are.
I am so glad you started this blog. It's the reason I can count you as a friend, and I truly value that. You came into my life right before a very dark time and you helped me through it a lot just by talking anime with me and letting me vent. Hell, you've been to my house! A first for an internet friend for me!
You've put up with me being dramatic and awkward as hell and I truly, deeply appreciate that. The blog is great too.
Precure Daily's Sixth Anniversary
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On April 10, 2018, I posted the first review in the project that became Precure Daily. It wasn't actually on tumblr at that time, but on Facebook. The plan was to watch an episode every day and just post some thoughts, but it evolved into reviews and screenshots and that necessitated a whole blog, and here we are. That was six years ago today!
Six years. It's hard to believe. I honestly, truly didn't think I'd still be doing this. Whether I petered out before the end, or managed to get it all done in the 2-3 years I anticipated, I figured I'd have stopped by now. But somehow I haven't given up yet! I'm still watching, still writing, and still getting new fans to share with, and that makes it all worth it.
The past year was slow, I will readily acknowledge it. I only got about 7 reviews out in that time, including the one that just went up earlier today, but one of those was the Go Go movie. That was a whole undertaking, it took me nine months to get out. Granted, for about 6 of those 9 months it was just sitting there unchanged. I'd open it occasionally to poke at it but then not end up getting much done. Maybe it still wasn't the best it could have been but I'm proud of it nonetheless. It was a good review for a good movie. Also, I got to review the very first All Stars, even if it was a short film. Having recently wached the most recent All Stars brings that experience full circle and it's real nice.
One small hiccup is that, at the time of writing, I haven't yet gotten out the traditional Honoka birthday post. I just haven't had time to sit down and gather artwork for it. Hopefully that'll come out in the next day or two!
Outside of the blog, let's look at the wider world of the Precure series over the last year
I said last year that I hadn't finished Delicious Party, and that's still true. When it was on air, I was watching it with a friend and she was really into it; we are going to resume watching together to finally push through it.
HIrogaru Sky's second half was good, it lacked a little bit of the driving power of the first half and the villain plot never properly came together in my opionion. I still love the characters, I think they're my favorite cast in a good while.
I did not watch Otona Precure. Although I've watched Go Go before, I want to finish this current watchthrough for the blog before I jump into it. Maybe I'll even review it as I go, that remains to be seen. I've heard mixed things about it and I'm not very big on the idea that the girls just go back to teenagers when they transform, but I'll reserve judgment.
Wonderful Precure did not appeal to me when information started coming out, and I fell off it for a few weeks when the first couple eps didn't impress me, but I decided to keep going and it's thoroughly enjoyable. I don't think it's going to crack my top 10 but it should be a solid middle of the road series.
I watched the Delicious Party Precure movie and Precure All Stars F with friends in fairly close proximity, and wow do those movies exist on opposite ends of the spectrum. DeliPa's film was one of the weakest Precure movies I've seen, while All Star F was phenomenal. I need to rewatch it.
I did say last year that the blog would look different when I finish Go Go. That is still true. I should be able to wrap that up in a few months, then comes the next phase of things. Deets when it happens.
And also just because I can, here's some recommendations for shows outside of Precure you should watch that came out in the last year-ish:
Oshi no Ko
Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (featuring Wonderful Precure's Tanezaki Atsumi as a monotone elf)
SPY x FAMILY (featuring Wonderful Precure's Tanezaki Atsumi as a psychic toddler)
Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger
The Last of Us
And I think that's it for this year's update! Here's to another year of watching and writing about Precure! Thanks as always to my loyal friends and fans for making this project a success: @sailorzombiestar, @vertixscribe, PaintedOutlaw, @hanasaki-tsubomi, yugimon135 (can't tag you for some reason), and my newest fan @nono-bunny.
Here's all my previous sappy anniversary posts if you want to go back and read them.

Every time I advocate for voting people are like "no you shouldn't vote! Read this literature, it'll totally change the way you view voting!" And every single time it's the same fucking "you shouldn't vote because both parties are exactly the same so it won't make a difference who wins" bullshit wrapped up in some fancy language

Baby bird season is incoming and I’d like to remind everyone that birds do not have a significant sense of smell. Bird parents will not reject birdlets because you have handled them.
If you see smol birbs with few or no feathers on the ground, you can safely put them back into their nest, bird parents will still care for them.
If you see smol birbs with some or most feathers on the ground, please leave them there, as bird parents are probably nearby watching and feeding.

obsessing over the destruction of israel and the persecution of jews and believing conspiracy theories about us doesn't seem very decolonial of you. it doesn't seem very anti-theist of you. it doesn't seem very anti-racist of you. in fact it seems like the exact sort of thing a colonialist white supremacist evangelical christian would do. i thought you hated those guys

I am getting so fucking frustrated hearing "the Russian people shouldnt be punished for the actions of their government." And sympathy for the Russian teenage soldiers who have mandatory military service requirements and are now being sent to fight and die in a war they technically didn't sign up for. And telling ppl not to boycott American businesses run by Russian immigrants because "the babushka selling piroshki in New York didn't make Putin invade Ukraine." Even the Russians still on Russia's side (as long as they aren't athletes or oligarchs), they're "victims of propaganda" and being given sympathy over sanctions that may ruin their lives.
Like, the fact that y'all can understand how this works when it comes to Russia and Russians but not apply that same sympathy to Israeli citizens and the Jewish diaspora is pure antisemitism. You've all now admitted that you know and understand that boycotting an American Jewish deli doesn't actually do anything for or have any bearing on Israel's government, but y'all continue to do it anyway. You continue to call Gal Gadot a murderer for serving mandatory military service as a fitness instructor who never once saw battle but excuse Russian troops on the front lines for killing Ukrainians because it's a mandatory draft. You feel sympathy for average Russians losing money due to sanctions but support BDS, which generally boycotts private businesses and therefore takes money from average citizens and not the Israeli government itself. Hell, y'all even seem to understand how propaganda and western sanctions may turn some Russians away from the west and cause them to support Putin but you don't see how deeply pushed state propaganda on both sides is fueling the conflict in the Levant?
I'm so fucking over the double standard. So over it. Your antisemitism is showing and you better fucking pull your heads out of your asses and work on it when international attention inevitably turns back to I/P. Because now I have receipts that y'all understand exactly how this shit works and you just decide to ignore it to punish Jewish people.
