I will forever respect Animorphs for tricking kids who are just really into animals to read a book series by going “Hey you, you daydream about what it’s like to be a dolphin or a bird or a wolf? Have I got a book for you!” and then slowly radicalizing them with 50+ books of “There are no winners in war. annabeth taking the knife for percy was peak impulsiveness at that stage of their relationship. because up until this point of the series. if i'm remembering correctly. all of annabeth actions were calculated. even her stubborn actions had merit. but taking the knife? knowing he was invulnerable? but taking the knife? knowing that him watching you cry out in agony hurt him just the same if he had been stabbed? but taking the knife? and then lying on a cot in the glisten of the setting sun? vulnerable and slow? grounding him like he's the one who needed saving? like watching you bleed out is enough to kill him? and touching the small of his back brings him back to life? impulsiveness turned romantic. turned angst. turned 'all the words i didn't say but you heard them anyway'. don't talk to me.

When Maddie gave birth to Danny, she gave birth to twins. Unfortunately, one of the nurses didn't think she and Jack were parents material, and faked one of the twins deaths.

It was simple. There was another couple, both who had black hair and blue eyes, who had given birth to a stillborn the other doctors had taken away to attempt to resuscitate. They hadn't succeeded, and they were trying to steady themselves to tell the parents.

One John and Mary Grayson.

The nurse just...waited until the area was clear. All she needed was two minutes, maybe less. She might not have been able to save one of the twins, but this one she could save from being raised by a madwoman.

She swapped the babies.

She then came back with the stillborn and told the Fenton's it was one of the twins, happy and satisfied that she'd saved at least one of them.

John and Mary Grayson were told that their son had started breathing on his own, and that it was a miracle.

No one knew anything, because no one thought to look for anything. The doctors were so relieved that little Richard Grayson was not only alive, but had no neurological complications from lack of oxygen, that they didn't look into it. The Doctors that attended the Fentons were so relieved that the other twin hadn't fallen to SIDS that they, too, did not look into it.

No one told Danny that he'd had a twin in the womb. It didn't seem relevant.

One day, many years later, Dick decides to take an Ancestry test to see how many relatives he has.

John and Mary Grayson are not in the results at all.

Danny is about to be kidnapped in Gotham This is not a good time.

He's studying for the SAT, he's already been kidnapped by Vlad like, four times that week and it was a fucking Tuesday, he forgot his wallet at his new apartment, locked himself out of said new apartment (he could phase through the door but that wasn't the point), he's just been informed that the grant he applied for was denied so he needs to ask his mom and dad for college funds when he'd already told them he had it covered, and just...it was shit.

It had been shit. The entire week had been awful and annoying and he was ready to either murder everyone on the planet or go find a corner to cry in for the next three days.

So when the band of wild goons working for whatever villain of the week pulled up and tried to kidnap him, he snapped.

He used them to vent.

Shouted about how terrible his day had been, how terrible his week had been, how he'd already been kidnapped by his creepy godfather who was way too into him, how college funding was shit and the grant system was rigged, and how he'd have to call a locksmith or break down the door to his own apartment if he wanted to go to bed-all of it. He unloaded all of his frustration.

The goons actually backed off.

One of them gave him an awkward side hug and told him it'd get better.

Danny wasn't paying attention to his surrounding. He doesn't realize that the whole thing was livestreamed.

So when he gets home to his apartment later that day, his door is opened for him by the vigilante Spoiler before he can even turn intangible.

She brought over BatBurger and kidnapped Bruce Wayne, Gotham's bumbling Prince, to talk about college grants.

I have friends and family in Israel. I worry for them constantly. However... Some of my friends feel like Midwesterners in the USA who go outside to watch tornados, except for them it's missiles. Me: Mosh, wtf are you doing online? Shouldn't you be in a shelter? Mosh: Nah, I was outside. Me: ...no fuckin way... Mosh: It was like a meteor shower. Me: ...ballistic missile? Mosh: Yeah. Me: That meteor shower can kill you. Mosh: Eh, my depression has tried harder. Me: *choking noises* I love this idiot, we've been gaming together for over a decade...but damn if this is not a conversation I'd have with someone living in Tornado Alley.
