It’s no secret this woman is prickly upon waking. Even worse if her slumber was interrupted by the shouting commands of her macho superior echoed by the yells of hard-at-work men much earlier in the morning that she’d prefer after a long night. For shame, she is cranky and exhausted. Possibly the worse combination to ever attempt approaching, to which most would in turn avoid her until she comes to them.

So color her surprise when her co-seat comes walking into their shared office, right up to her desk. Ama’s attention is much to occupied by paperwork, and irritability, to spare him even a glance. Whatever kind of antics he has to promote, this morning is not it. At least that’s what she assumes, some unwitty commentary about her attitude.

Yet, that’s not it. In fact, he is rather quiet, except for a curt cough. The familiar clink of ceramic meeting wood captures her attention. By the time she’s raised her head though Shigeru has already made his way back to his own desk. On hers rests a teacup, steam wafting through the air from the hot tea prepared in it.

A peace offering via caffeine boost?

Golden eyes glance to her counterpart, who’s apparently busied himself in his own work. After a moment, allowing the liquid to cool some, she finally puts down her pen in favor of the cup. It’s warm in her hands, perfect in this wintery weather, and it smells surprisingly good. It’s even better when she takes a sip. Perhaps she needed this, her features softening in gratitude.
