So not to bring up trauma, but I’m also autistic and the fact you can be an ABA “therapist” with no training shows it’s absolute trash. I just wanted to vent to someone who also suffered from it for a second because a friend got offered a position even though they don’t know anything about autism or therapy in general

Exactly. Also something I like to point out is that ABA became the model for conversion therapy, and both deliberately targeted autistic kids and trans kids. ABA talks about how it reinforces, increases or decreases behavior which is the exact same language used in trans conversion therapy under the same model, here’s an article from 1974 from the ABA journal using nearly the exact same language featured on A$ website: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1311956/

But yeah, ABA is absolutely abuse and it’s also embedded in our medical system to the point of being the only way to access diagnosis, 504 plans and IEPs in the US at least which is also medical racism. So yeah, you’re all good, ABA is fucked up and not enough people are talking about it.
