2020 - 20 Random Facts
Tagged by no oneā€“ just thought this would be fun!
TaggingĀ anyone else who wants to do this
20 random FACTS about yourself that may surprise people. Here are mine:
1: Do you make your bed?
Not usually. Iā€™m getting better at it though.
2: Whatā€™s your favourite number?
10ā€“ Ben 10 (favorite cartoon as a kid, next to PokĆ©mon), 10th Doctor, very nice number overall
11ā€“ 11th Doctor, 11:11 wishing time
42ā€“ answer to life, everything, and the universe
3: Whatā€™s your job?
Swim instructor and a part time college student.
4: If you could, would you go back to school?
Iā€™m still in college.
5: Can you parallel park?
Iā€™m still learning to drive, so no.
6: A job you had which would surprise people?
I still have my first job since I havenā€™t been working that long. Any volunteer stuff I've done is pretty "on brand" for me. Iā€™d like to have a weird/interesting job someday though.
7: Do you think aliens are real?
Hell yeah! Or at least, I want to believe. I would've gone to the Area 51 Raid if possible.
8: Can you drive a manual car?
Iā€™m still learning how to drive a normal car.
9: Whatā€™s your guilty pleasure?
Cartoons and sweets, I guess?
10: Tattoos?
None yet. Iā€™ve really been considering a Supernatural anti possession, something related to my pets, and a couple others. Iā€™m not really sure if Iā€™d ever fully commit because ouch
11: Favourite colour?
I just have a bunch of favorite color palettes. Pink and yellow, along with that light orange they make when mixed together. Greens, dark blues, any shade of red, gold.
12: Things people do that drive you crazy?
The only pet peeve I can really think of is when the window isn't fully rolled up all the way and makes a little whistling noise... It's annoying but I can block it out with music.
13: Any phobias?
Heights and feral rodents. Iā€™m fine with pet mice, rats, and hamsters.
14: Favourite childhood sport?
Volleyball and basketball were the only sports I played, but I guess I also did track? Also fond of dodgeball, kickball, and capture the flag during P.E. and recess.
15: Do you talk to yourself?
Yeah, definitely. If I did it externally, I'd literally be Deku.
16: What movie do you adore?
Into the Spiderverse, Venom, Detective Pikachu. Those are mainly the ones that are coming to mind right now.
17: Do you like doing puzzles?
Yep! Especially ciphers, escape rooms, and ARGs. Iā€™d say Iā€™m just decent with jigsaw puzzles though.
18: Favourite kind of music?
Pop, alternatives, rock, hip hop. My taste is all over the place.
19: Tea or coffee?
Normally I'd say coffee, but I have a crippling boba tea addiction.
20: The first thing you remember you wanted to be when you grew up?
A superhero, I think?
That concludes this random tag thing. I love being tagged in this kinda stuff, so tag me if you need someone!

Ultimate educational goals?
This is super late, rip. Kinda because of COVID-19 but because I also donā€™t know what Iā€™m doing with my life? Thanks for the ask!!!
If I really believed in myself and thought I could get shit done, my ultimate educational goal would be to get a doctorate in psychology. Itā€™s really uncharacteristically ambitious of me, I know. I donā€™t think any of my family or friends would expect me as a person who wants a doctorate.
Psychology is just something Iā€™m really fascinated with though, but psychologist is definitely not my ā€œdream careerā€. My dream career would be to get into animation (either VFX for movies or 2D cartoons), so Iā€™d settle for whatever degree could take me there. I also really like English and have considered teaching abroad. Iā€™d need some credentials for that though.
I guess my ultimate educational goal would be able to do it all? Like somehow have a psychology doctorate, a bachelors/masters in the field of animation, and maybe another degree (probably associates/bachelors) in English. A person can dream, right?

How to be a ā€œBad Assā€ at University
Tumblr media
Find things to be excited about because your attitude will dictate your experience.
Plan a nice outfit for the first day of school. It doesnā€™t have to be very fancy, just something you will feel good wearing.Ā The way you dress can improve your confidence.Ā
Get a planner. Itā€™s helpful to have a book dedicated to school work and extracurriculars so that you stay on top of your game.
Write down your instructors/professors/teachers names, e-mails and office hours ASAP. You never know when you will need to contact them. Ā
Please be nice to your instructors/professors/teachers. Reach out and connect with them so that you have a professional relationship with them, as you never know when you will need extra credit or a recommendation letter.
Once you receive all of your syllabi, write all of your assignments/deadlines down in your planner/bullet journal/calendar.Ā
Start studying and put effort into doing work on day one. You will thank yourself during finals week.
Donā€™t listen to your peers about what was on the test/exam if they get to take them before you. Do your own thing.
Donā€™t focus on how many hours your peers spend studying. Everyone completes work and studies at their own pace, there is no hour limit that you need to achieve to receive that A+.Ā
Donā€™t procrastinate a study session by planning what youā€™re going to study. A simple to-do list will work fine.Ā
Attend talks, conferences, events on campus to fully immerse yourself in university life. Sometimes professors are willing to give extra credit for attending talks/conferences (as long as it is related to their class).
Have a song that gives you hype. Whether youā€™re waiting for a big presentation or youā€™re nervous on the first day of school. I always listen toĀ ā€œSorryā€ by Beyonce.Ā
Please do your own work and donā€™t plagiarise as it can ruin academic careers.
Please donā€™t share your work with other students in case they might plagiarise from you. Even if you think theyā€™re your friend, itā€™s better to not share your work.Ā
Reflect and remember how lucky you are to be getting an education. School isnā€™t a punishment, its an opportunity for you to create a kick-ass foundation for the rest of your life.
Save your coin and make your morning coffee/tea at home. Invest in a travel to-go cup, I always use my Starbucks one.Ā
People will leave you alone when you have your earphones in.Ā
Have a couple of spots for studying on campus, where you can sit down and focus to do work in between lectures. I would have a couple of favourite spots in my uniā€™s library were I could study free from distractions.Ā
Donā€™t compare yourself to other students. Weā€™re all on our own paths; therefore, the most important person you need to focus on is you!Ā
Visit my blog or follow me on Instagram from time to time for some study inspiration. You can contact me via my inbox on Tumblr or Instagram DMā€™s.Ā
This was as fun to make as my College Truths list from a couple of years ago, so I hope you enjoy it! Please remember that this is just my personal opinion and that you can adapt these to your school/lifestyle.Ā

How I Started Doing Better In School
Tumblr media
Back in high school, I was not the straight A type of student. I was more of the average type who opted to focus more on extra curricular activities. When CETs came and I was not qualified to enter my dream school, I did regret how I performed academically because I knew that I could do more.Ā When college came, I started stepping up my study habits. Here are some tips on how to get those Aā€™s and be a part of the Deanā€™s List, receive awards, and whatnot!
1. Be organized to prevent cramming!
Being organized really helped me keep track of what I have to accomplish, the upcoming quizzes and exams, homework and essay submissions. To beat the deadline, it pays to plan and to do it ahead of time.Ā
I keep a planner with me and what I do is to write the deadline of the project or the date of the exam. Aside from that, I set a specific date where I will work on those papers, when I will make reviewers and when I will study. It sounds easier said than done, but what I did is to create a schedule and STICK TO IT. This helped me create essays and projects of quality and it lessened my bad habit of cramming and procrastinating. It is better to just scan and review your notes the night before an exam than to actually push yourself to have an all-nighter just so you could squeeze in all the information in one night.Ā
It is harder to remember everything you studied if you just read all the handouts and chapters the night before. It is harder to answer an exam when you just had a few hours of sleep or none at all. Study ahead of time. It will pay off!
2. Sit in front
I used to be the kind of girl who sat on the last row just so I can use my phone or talk to my friends just in case the class starts to get boring. But due to my bad eyesight, I started sitting in front. Since then, I became more focused. I understood the lessons more. I became more engaged in class discussions and recitations. Sitting in front made me more involved.
3. Take down notes
Yes, write notes. Stop taking pictures of the powerpoint slides or your classmateā€™s notes. This is research based and it was proven that taking down notes helps the brain in storing information. Itā€™s one thing to see the slide. Itā€™s another thing to actually remember it. Listening to the professor read it and explain it further is a good way to understand the lesson. But taking down notes helps in recalling them. Trust me!Ā
4. Read the syllabusĀ
The syllabus is given on the first day of each class not to be stored away for the rest of the semester. It is a good guide on the grading system and on what you should focus on, what can lift your grades up, and whatnot. It is also an effective study guide considering that there is an outline of everything you will discuss. You can read in advance for so you can be ready for class. There are also a list of references in the syllabus which can aid you throughout the sem. The syllabus prevents students in going to class unprepared!
5. Make time for ALL your subjects.
They are not justĀ ā€œminorā€ subjects. These subjects can actually make or break you. Those subjects that you hate putting your time to just because they are minor are the subjects that can pull up or pull down your GWA.Ā
Instead of merely focusing on your major subject, it pays to also spend time studying for your minors. You canĀ ā€œalayā€ your way through them all the time.Ā
6. No gadgets on the study table
I find myself easily distracted when I study and my phone is on my desk. I realized that sometimes my study breaks are even longer than they should have, just because I canā€™t keep track of time when Iā€™m on my phone.Ā Aside from keeping my phone out of sight, I also downloaded the Forest app to keep me focused.Ā
7. Spotifyā€™s Deep Focus playlist
I like listening to music when I study. This playlist helped me get in the zone and to focus more. Check it out.
These are some tips on how I improved my study habits. These worked a lot for me. I decided to share them in hopes that other students can also benefit from these tips too!Ā

how do you deal with stress?
I come across as very laid-back and not ambitious/concerned about stuff
That's completely false and I'm just really good at hiding stress, so others and myself don't have to stress about me being stressed. I only show when I'm stressed when it gets really bad and then immediately bottle that shit up again
My ways of coping with stress is procrastination, self care, and just again bottling that shit up
Stressed backwards is desserts
...Don't be like me friendos
