lock broken slur spoken wound open game token i didn’t know you were keeping count // ended with the slam of a door, then he’ll call her a whore, wish he wouldn’t be sore
i love the…. almost horror aspects of this album. all the references to ghosts and death…. and sonically, the unexpected shrieking in WAOLOM and the banging and screaming during “old habits die screaming” and even the way the tension subtly builds across the sixteen tracks and by the end you’re so stressed and shaken it’s like! losing your sense of self and feeling like you’ve become a monster is horror. and i’m sooooo glad she leaned into it
thanK you aIMee might actually be the funniest, most sagittarius thing taylor swift has ever done. she’s like “i’m clinically insane over this dude and everyone hates him someone lock me up” and “this other dude is too sad, doesnt want to marry me, and stole my youth whatever”
but kim k? fuck you kim k. just in case you forgot.
“You wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me” thinking about how comparing growing up in the spotlight to an asylum. It’s hard enough to deal with being a teenage girl transitioning into adulthood without the whole world scrutinizing every single thing you do. At least all of us got to screw up and have emotions without the world watching.
"And you say I abandoned the ship but I was going down with it. My white-knuckle dying grip holding tight to your quiet resentment and my friends said it isn't right to be scared. every day of a love affair Every breath feels like rarest air when you're not sure if he wants to be there so how much sad did you think I had in me? How much tragedy? Just how low did you think I'd go before I'd self-implode?"
