1. How many works do you have on AO3?
103.
2. What’s your total AO3 wordcount?
1,825,148
3. What fandoms do you write for?
magicians and roswell, new mexico primarily! Also wrote a good omens fic recently but that might be a one and done for now.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
tales from a bookshop (good omens post season 2, fairly sure I'll never write anything this popular ever again because holy shit)
Lover's Touch - Queliot fic!
Promises - Queliot fic!
Maybe This Time - Queliot fic!
Fragments - Queliot fic!
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! I didn't used to in my earlier fandom days but now I'm pretty consistent about it.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I once wrote a major character death fic for Queer as Folk where Justin died. Not really my style anymore. Back in my ff.net days I also wrote Merthur major character death fic, I'm just remembering.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I always try and do happily ever afters! A lot of my stories end with a sense of "and then they continue on their adventures, and life isn't always simple or easy", so in terms of the most pure, joyful ending? I guess I'll go living proof, which is the end of my episode series for Roswell, NM, which is just a "now they're married and happy forever" fic.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I have before, but not as a rule. Once got called an abuse apologist & incest support (oh the horror /s) for exploring the canonical close friendship (not even a romantic relationship!) between two dudes from Shadowhunters lmao. And there's a troll in the Roswell fandom who writes hilarious and idiotic unhinged rants and I've been hit by her before, but she's got a scatter-shot approach and attacks a lot of people, so, at least I know it's nothing personal.
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
Yep! What is meant by "what kind" here? lol. I'm pretty vanilla. Mostly m/m, but I usually don't pass over the chance for m/m/f. I actually recently wrote my very first m/f full-on sex scene ever for a little Magicians snippet, Kady/Penny lol.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
No, I don't wrote crossovers in the sense that characters from various worlds don't meet each other in my fics. HOWEVER, two of my favorite things I've ever written have been Magicians AUs that crossed over the characters from that show with the full plot from other films. One is The Old Guard (A Comet Pulled From Orbit), and one is When Harry Met Sally (When Quentin Met Eliot).
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yeah, a few times! Used to happen a lot back with old ff.net stuff, and I recently had my good omens fic translated.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
I'm co-writing a series right now! First time I've ever done it and it's a blast.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
uhhhhh don't make me choose? lmao. In terms of fandom engagement and longevity I guess Queliot at this point. But in terms of... the ships that made me discover and appreciate and explore fandom in the first place? Kirk/Spock and Brian/Justin. Classics.
16. What are your writing strengths?
dialogue and tone setting, I think?
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
plot details (I get bored and distracted mapping things out)
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
tbh I usually wince when I see it in fic? I'm not a fan. It always feels a little silly. Maybe very very sparingly if there's like a singular phrase or term of endearment or something but I'd rather just indicate that someone is speaking another language rather than write it out. I feel like it can often be tokenizing if you just have one character who's bilingual and you give them little one-liners in a different language. Idk. If the author is bilingual and doing a thing, then that's awesome. But I can usually tell when someone's just using google translate for stuff lol.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Gilmore Girls!
20. Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
I'm gonna cheat and name one each for my two big fandoms. Also idk if these are my favorites but they're two I really love that aren't my most popular:
Regrets, or the Absence Thereof (Magicians)
all the roads that lead you there (Roswell)
tagging @portraitofemmy @spiders-hth-is-an-outlier @orchardsinsnow @r-dtoblack and YOU if you're reading this and want to play!

RNM Season 4 Episodes 5-6
Okay, so here are my thoughts on the last two episodes of Roswell New Mexico - spoilers and plot speculation ahead.
Okay… so we aren’t bringing Jones back (at least not in the flesh.)  Will admit, kinda thought that might be the plan.  I am going to double down on my Collective Consciousness Theory. I’m guessing Ophiuchus is the RNM version of the Collective Consciousness, but with a few tweaks.  Still guessing Michael’s console is the Collective Consciousness console, not the spaceship console.  But, I think it’s a temporary housing, and that ultimately the end goal is for all of these consciouses to go into a person.  Ophiuchus, aka Max.  So, mind-controlled Max soon?  Maybe?
Max and Michael’s conversation was golden. “I regret every time I don’t let him in.”  Just pull at our heartstrings why don’t you!  Also, Max, maybe listen to your best friend - he’s giving you great relationship advice here.
Cam remains a voice of reason.  I appreciate her scenes with both Liz and Max.  Though I do feel a bit like the writers are forgetting Cam only knew Max for 2 years. (She told Jesse Manes in season 1 that Valenti hadn’t warmed up to her in the two years she’d been there.)  She also stated in season one that Max wasn’t the type to run headfirst into a situation until Liz returned to town.  Which both had to do with Max’s feelings for Liz, and how much he was holding himself in check out of fear and guilt following the murders.  My point is, though, that Cam shouldn’t be quite as much of an expert on Max as she is being, since he was already showing signs of being different than the Max she knew then - let alone now.  While some of it can definitely be contributed to distance from the situation making her see it more clearly than Liz, I do feel like some of it should have maybe been more of a conversation between Isobel and Liz about Max instead.
Honestly, though, that’s fairly minor.  I still adore Cam.  And I hope this isn’t the last we see of her in the season.  (She hasn’t gotten to hook up with Dallas yet!  C’mon, you owe us a Cam and Dallas hook up!)
I actually was a fan of Clyde and Michael finding a connection to each other, and Clyde deciding that maybe it’s okay for Bonnie to have music.  (I absolutely was not the only one humming Part of Your World cuz of Bonnie’s cave, right?) I really hope we’re aiming for Clyde turning to the good side.  It definitely seemed like, despite Bonnie’s concerns, Michael was the one getting to both of them rather than vice versa - considering Clyde gave her the guitar after his and Michael’s most recent conversations and clearly was back to eating Earth food with Bonnie since she brought him a breakfast burrito the next episode.  (Go Mikey!  You can do it!)
Dallas having a few memories of living in the past does make some sense.  We know a bunch of aliens escaped the night of the crash and were eventually captured and sent to Caulfield - Dallas’s father included.  But there was still time for them to be running around Roswell before he was captured.  I like the continued mix of biomechanics they give the aliens.  First the pods, then the fruit of the tree being fuel.  It seems like there was a whole escape plan - Michael’s mother was building the ship; Dallas’s father planted the tree that would create their fuel.  But where is the ship then?
I appreciate Isobel admitting Anatsa wasn’t “her person”.  While I’m still not overall thrilled that they gave us a w/w ship I could have liked if they hadn’t decided in advance to not make it last, I do like the call back to those words.  “My person” has been an Isobel thing since S1.  And I am definitely vibrating with the desire to have her say, “Kyle Valenti, you are my person.”
Okay, if you’re interested in my complaints about episode 6, go here.
Clyde is retrieving something… I kinda wonder if that “something” is Alex…
Of course, they have to draw out Kybel.  Okay, I don’t hate the scenes.  It’s obvious from the writing they will get together.  Unlike Echo, or previous season Malex, Kyle and Isobel did what they personally do best - communicate.  Kyle knows all about Isobel’s fears when it comes to relationships, and Isobel knows that Kyle doesn’t deserve to be strung along if she can’t commit herself fully to him.  I’m sure it will be a beautiful scene when it happens.  But, c’mon.  This is the epitome of a slow burn, if you think about it.  Isobel and Kyle’s connection has slowly been building since season one when he took care of her when she injected herself.  That was the first time they started sharing stories and finding common ground.  It’s four seasons, and multiple romances for both later.  Is drawing it out further really necessary at this point? Especially given I feel like we’re heading towards Echo break-up 3.0?  Let my fav girl be happy, already.
Okay, I do like the plot of Michael getting sick and his stolen powers, admittedly.  Though I do wonder if the writers bothered to look up what they claimed Michael had before throwing a bunch of illnesses down on paper.  As someone who has had strep throat, Michael does way too much talking to have strep throat.  The last time I had it, I couldn’t even squeak.  I puffed air and no sound emerged.  Minor illness details aside, Liz rubbing his arm to comfort him cuz she is worried about her science bro was sweet.  And she also shot her boyfriend a glare for picking on Mikey while he was down.  Kudos to Liz.  Having multiple illnesses at the same time is no joke.  I do feel like losing his powers is painful but good plot for Michael - so long as he gets them back.  Being an alien is very, very important to Michael and having his powers taken away, making him vulnerable to illness, essentially changing who is he like this - that hurts him on such a deep level.  His “You erased me” to Bonnie was spot on and such a gut punch line.
Side note, if they were gonna have everyone find out Bonnie kissed Michael, couldn’t that have happened when Bonnie was present?  So she could mention he pushed her away cuz he’s “totally in love with his boyfriend” in front of everyone?  I would have loved to see the others be all “aw” and/or tease him about having blurted that out.
Max, meanwhile, says he’ll keep Michael’s promise to protect Bonnie, and then proceeds to be a total jerk to her.  Max, you suck.  However, this isn’t actually surprising behavior for Max.  He’s been kind of “My way or the highway” since s1.  I thought he did a bit better last season, but it’s still not out of character behavior for him to say, yes I’ll help - and then proceed to do things his way instead of the way he was asked to.  He’s also wanted to be rid of his powers and be just a “guy from Roswell” pretty much most of his life.  Definitely since the Drifter murder.  Which, okay, yes, trauma.  But is in the middle of an alien showdown the smartest time to decide to pursue that?  I know he thinks getting rid of his powers means he can’t be used by Tezca, but that doesn’t save anyone else from her machinations?  This is why Max is among my least favorite characters.  Despite deeply caring for others and wanting to protect them, he never listens to anyone else’s input on the how of it all.  What is an acceptable form for that to take.  Gr, Max…
Small detail, but how would Bonnie know the name Noah Bracken?  Knowing Noah, yes - but it should be under a different name.  Not the one he used in Roswell.  Not thrilled with the “Noah was always evil” plot.  Was very pro, “Being stuck in isolation and sensory deprivation made Noah off his rocker.”  It’s honestly a proven fact that prolonged periods of both have a negative impact on the psyche.  All that aside, I hope we do get even more info on Noah.  (Max, why is that picture still on your phone, btw?)
I honestly like all the side stories.  I like Eduardo and Sonya.  I like Shivani, and the hoops she’s jumping through to save her daughter.  I am very curious about where Allie is - since I am wondering if she is working for Tezca?  But I’m a sucker for side characters.  Honestly helps me enjoy a series if I get invested in their stories since I’m rarely invested in the journey of some of the main characters.  (*cough*Max*cough*Maria*cough*)  I like a good ghost plot, but I still would rather have had Mimi alive, for the record.  And Rosa when??  We need Rosa to come and sass absolutely everyone right about now.
The final question I do have is about the initial ship that crashed.  Noah said in s1 that they were refugees fleeing the civil war.  That a stowaway crashed the ship.  The presence of Jones seemed to confirm that.  But now, not only has Noah turned out to work for Jones - Tezca, Bonnie, and Clyde were on board.  Okay, so… why was the literal dictator and all these people who work for him on this ship alongside people running from the war and the leaders of the rebellion?  Was it two ships?  Was there a battle going down?  I’m now very confused about the original ship and crash.

ficmojis? 💡⭐ [turn your shattered dreams into rhapsodies]; 🗝️📜🎵 [all the world's a stage]
ask me about writing!
For turn your shattered dreams into rhapsodies:
💡-What was the motivation behind the story?
I loved the first season of Roswell, New Mexico so much (the best season tbh), but there were some threads in it that I really wish they'd followed through on during the subsequent seasons. One of the most intriguing things about Kyle in S1 was that he trying to do better while living with the guilt that his dad died thinking that he was going to be a douchebag forever. And when he finally found out that this guy he put on a pedestal for so long was actually Very Flawed and not always great but tried to be better, instead of exploring sad, hot, introspective Kyle being fully in his feelings era, they saddled him with an extremely meaningless romance with Steph, who then peaced out offscreen! In contrast, I think Isobel's post-Noah arc through the first half of S2 was great, but then the show kind of forgot about it. But the thing that I really wanted them to get into post-S1 was that there was a part of Isobel that loved Noah and when she found out he was a monster, she didn't know how to reconcile that. (When is a monster not a monster? Oh, when you love it.) I'm still low-key obsessed with that idea and would write a billion fics about it. But in terms of this fic, it made sense that these two extremely hot people who spent large chunks of their lives trying to be perfect would gravitate towards each other because there were only a finite number of people who knew the truths that they did and maybe it was easier to be vulnerable with someone in the group who was, at best, a friend-by-proxy. And also, your honor, I love them! I've wanted them to go there with Kyle and Isobel since she mind-controlled him into stabbing her ("like bad girl RiRi") and while I appreciate a good slow burn like everyone else, they could've started it a hell of a lot sooner! (It's also not satisfying if they fumbled the whole of the final season so we never got to see those losers date! I will never get off that soapbox!)
⭐- What’s a scene/paragraph you’re proud of?
I I like the scene where Kyle calls Isobel over to help with Rosa's wayward powers only to make up a work emergency to get out of the line of fire when they look like they're about to kill each other. The Isobel and Rosa banter was extremely fun to write!
For all the world's a stage:
🗝️-What were you thinking when you wrote it?
The 2015-2016 awards season was a great time to be a Domhnall Gleeson fan because he was doing so much press for Star Wars (I think?) and had done all this press for Ex Machina was and going to all the award shows for Brooklyn and The Revenant and looking extremely handsome. It has been so many years that I can't remember if it was in a podcast or if I made it up in my head, but I remember him talking about how great Alicia Vikander was when she was getting buzz for The Danish Girl and I was already so much about them post-Anna Karenina and Ex Machina that of course I was all about it and the thought of them running into each other at one of these things was enough for sustain me. Also there was this at the BIFA and to this day I love it with all my heart, Back in those days, the post-awards show stuff was also so much fun because no one knew what was happening at those parties except blurbs in Vanity Fair about the most random mish-mosh of celebs talking or dancing or getting drunk together so you were free to let your imagination run wild. Leo was still thirsting after his first Academy Award so the memes were hilarious. It was truly the halcyon days of award show fodder and I miss them. (And also everyone would get drunk at The Golden Globes because it was the only one that wasn't a dry event so it was EVEN BETTER.) Now everyone is boring and the circles are all the same and it's the same argument about how the frontrunner for an Oscar shouldn't be the frontrunner and blah blah blah, let Domhnall Gleeson be in more Oscar-nominated stuff.
📜-Do you want to write something like this again in the future?
It was a ton of fun, but we do not have to worry about it happening in the future because Alicia Vikander is committed to never making a good movie again! The least Alicia Vikander and Domhnall Gleeson could do is get on the work-together-every-ten-years-and-be-delightful train that Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon have boarded.
🎵- Did you have a playlist/piece of music that went with this story?
It's been so long that I have no idea what I could possibly have been listening to at the time and since the title is from Shakespeare instead of a song, past!me didn't even help out there. I bet you I was listening to something from Carly Rae Jepsen's Emotions album on repeat at some point throughout the course of writing this thing.

Fan Work Analysis Blog Post
Fan fiction and fan videos are a way for the audience to integrate their own ideas and perspectives into a piece of media that follows an already existing story with developed characters. I find the fanbase for Roswell, New Mexico particularly fascinating, because they are passionate about highlighting the important aspects of the show while also introducing their own proposals. The fan video that really stood out to me was “praying | isobel evans”, created by Katie, because of the power that it brings to Isobel’s character development.
Tumblr media
The video analyzes Isobel’s discovery that Noah had been physically and mentally manipulating her throughout their entire marriage, as well as her journey to self acceptance. This is an extremely significant storyline in season 1 and is essential to the development of Isobel’s character in the future seasons.
Tumblr media
To me, the most powerful part of this video is the song choice of “Praying” by Kesha. The lyrics detail the the songwriter’s own experience in an abusive relationship and how she has come to terms with her new independence. This perfectly encompasses Isobel’s journey, because while the idea of “alien manipulation” is fiction, the violation and self-deprecation that she endured is certainly not. These lyrics therefore create a bridge between Isobel’s hurt in an alien world and those in the audience that are experiencing similar suffering in the real world. The video also perfectly times the lyrics of the song to correlate to certain moments in Isobel’s self discovery. For example, the words “you almost had me fooled” plays as clips of Isobel and Noah “happily” together sequentially play. Again, the video pictures Liz telling Isobel that it is okay for her to grieve and find herself again as the lyrics “I am proud of who I am” play in the background. I appreciate this keen attention to detail, because it is imperative to the storytelling aspect of the video.
Tumblr media
Additionally, the video utilizes voice-overs to supplement the clips that play from the show. The most significant example of this is at the beginning of the video, which has Liz talking to Isobel, saying “I won't pretend to know what you’re going through. You were violated in a way that is unimaginable.” This voice-over continues throughout the video in order to demonstrate the reflection that Isobel must undergo after Noah is finally gone. While most of the video contains clips from Isobel interacting with Noah when he was still alive, the voice-overs foreshadow the growth that Isobel uncovers once she is able to escape his harmful control. Although it is common for fan videos to include music without words, I think that the dialogue from the clips is essential to conveying the intense emotions, especially alongside the song lyrics.
Tumblr media
It is evident that the creator took great care in deliberately choosing which scenes from the show to use. Each clip contributes to the Isobel’s overall journey, which include both flashbacks and realtime clips from season 1. For instance, the inclusion of both Isobel killing Rosa under Noah’s control and Isobel realizing 10 years later what had happened demonstrates the parallelism of these scenes. In both instances, Isobel puts a hand over her mouth, or Rosa’s, mouth, but in very different emotional responses. This attention to detail is what makes this video particularly powerful to me.

Roswell, New Mexico saved its biggest Season 3 surprise for the tail end of Monday’s two-part finale, culminating in a final moment that was both unexpected and unreal.
Following Jones’ long-overdue defeat, the episode took us to Mexico, where a naked woman was wandering the streets of Careyes in a daze. Believed to be “one of the sky people,” she was directed to a woman named Allie, who instantly awoke from her mezcal-induced stupor when she heard that this stranger was looking for Liz Ortecho.
“Liz Ortecho was a student of mine,” Allie said, emerging from the shadows to reveal that she’s being played by (gasp!) Shiri Appleby, aka the original Liz from The WB’s Roswell. Though Appleby has notably directed two episodes of Roswell, New Mexico — Season 1’s “Songs About Texas” and Season 2’s “What If God Was One of Us?” — this marks the first time she will have appeared in front of the camera. (Appleby’s Max, Jason Behr, previously recurred as Tripp Manes.)
“We’ve been having discussions about this since Episode 10 of last year,” executive producer Chris Hollier tells TVLine. “We reached out to her, we started talking about how to fold her into the show, and pitched her a mini arc. She said, ‘I love it! I’ll come out and do it.’ We know the fans are going to love that moment.”
But if you’re hoping for the inside scoop on Appleby’s mysterious character, you’re going to have to be patient. Hollier is remaining tight-lipped about Liz’s former teacher, as well as the (potentially extraterrestrial) woman seeking Liz’s help.
“That’s definitely what it presents like,” Hollier says of the woman possibly being an alien. “You can never trust what your first image is, but I look forward to people speculating for a couple of months. I can say that she will be back in Season 4.”
Now that we’ve address that final twist, let’s see what Hollier has to say about the rest of Monday’s finale, including the futures of several fan-favorite couples:
TVLINE | Is Jones officially out of everyone’s hair for good? He was such a delicious character, and Nathan [Dean] had so much fun playing him. There are little things that he has set in motion. Jones won’t be running around as our villain, because we’ve moved on to other stories, but he made a big impact. There’s a lot of aftermath to deal with.
TVLINE | Good, good. I’m also very excited for Rosa, who’s off to New York. What is she hoping to gain from that experience? True growth. She was afraid that she’d never make it out of that town, that she’d die there. And in fact, she did. Looking at where our world was — we went through a global pandemic, and we’re still standing in it — we wanted to end this season differently than the other two. We collectively decided to end it on a hopeful note. Let’s give some of those things we’d been wanting. Let’s delay Max and Liz having a real kiss until the end, like One Fine Day. Plus there as the “Malex” of it all, and what fans have been asking for forever. Those are two things I loved paying off this season.
TVLINE | I especially appreciated the “Malex” ending. I feel like they’ve grown so much this season, both as individuals and as a couple. One of our other goals this season was to grow the characters up a little bit, and to give them new problems. Just because you’re in love and find your mate, that doesn’t mean everything is always rainbows. New challenges come as you grow. That’s what we were excited to re-platform all of our characters with.
TVLINE | Speaking of happy endings, are Max and Liz ever actually going to see the ocean together? [Laughs] It depends on how many more seasons we can get. In the rom-com of it all, we purposely delayed the kiss — Heath interrupts them a bunch, she kisses the wrong [Max] by mistake —  and the ocean is kind of like that. It grew to be this metaphor, it means something larger to them. They got the snow globe, and that’s good enough for them for now. The metaphor holds true.
TVLINE | I have to say, I never even considered Kyle and Isobel as a couple — but now that it’s been presented to me, I’m intrigued. Should we anticipate a full-on love triangle with them and Anatsa next season? As we came to the natural conclusion of two romantic comedies, we thought about poking at a third. Romance is about longing, which is why every song on the radio is about getting the person, not necessarily keeping the person. So we wanted to explore a new potential pairing with complications that arise. And sometimes you have two really good options! Anatsa’s great, but Kyle and Isobel also have chemistry. So who do you root for there? We want Isobel to be happy, so who’s going to be able to do that?

20 Questions - Writer’s Edition
Tagged by @myrmidryad <3 <3 <3
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
40, which seems...low. lmao. but mostly because i never end up posting things i write LMAO
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
96,197! which....is hilarious considering one of my eternal WIPS also jut hit 90k last week woops.
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
On AO3:
Black Sails (20)
Roswell New Mexico (TV 2019) (11)
Captain America (Movies) (5)
Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling (2)
Kingdom Hearts (Video Games) (1)
The Umbrella Academy (TV) (1)
Marvel Cinematic Universe (1)
On ff.net/LJ i had more Harry Potter stuff and i know there is still some Zim fanfic on my DA....
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Memories, Like Water, Can Be Tainted or Distilled; Sometimes Will Evaporate
is unfortunately always going to be first because it was written at the height of Stucky fandom and you just don’t recover from those sort of numbers xD
The Trouble With Jersey (Working title) - same deal. CapFam/Stucky fic at the height of CapFandom whoops
Between Breath and Love, I Choose Him - Okay I’m actually pretty happy this is number three because Black Sails fans are sluts and I love that journey for them <3 Also choking kink my beloved. <3
The Corner Booth - Drarry fic (antagonistic). what else is there to say.
Play, Boys - oh, abandoned WIP, my beloved. You deserved better but alas the hyperfixation wants what she wants.
5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Ohhhhh god i don’t know. I know the angstiest ending I ever *planned* was for I Couldn't Get The Boy To Kill Me but I never posted the rest of that. Hmm, otherwise maybe the On Purpose series, which is a Black Sails post London series about Miranda and James so like. Angst angst angst angst.
6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Bold of you to assume I’ve written an ending to any of my fics. Okay well, Tying Rockets To Shoe Strings  is going to have a happy ending if it kills me. Most of my one shots end ...fairly happily....? I think....?
7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?
I don’t only because if I don’t hyperfixate on something the brain simply Turns Off.
8. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA almost exclusively. BUT I am very very into kink smut and D/s, A/B/O fic(although I don’t think I’ve ever posted any...) ot so much into the more vanilla smut - most of my explicit fics will have some level of light kink even if it’s just a little bit of choking play or like. Brat Michael.
9. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Oh god. You know how you go ‘I will do this when the Brain Returns From War’ ? Yeah. I do try to respond to comments but I’m....so bad at it. If I didn’t respond to your comment it’s not because I don’t appreciate it, it is that The Brain Turned That Function Off.
10. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
You know what I actually don’t think so which is weird but maybe I’m just not popular enough to receive that kind of attention. xD Although I have gotten plenty of hate on meta I’ve written so maybe that balances it out?
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
God Bless if I have.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope <3
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I had co-written or started co-writing a couple things but they never got published for one reason or another. I would really love to, though!
14. What’s your all time favourite ship to write for?
I don’t think i could ever pick a favorite but honestly Axel/Roxas will always get me. But Malex is right now the favorite child.
15. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
Did You Mean, All Of Them? I am notoriously so bad at long fics that I feel like this is All Of Them but the one I absolutely know I will never finish is Play, Boys (Umbrella Academy) and I Couldn't Get The Boy To Kill Me (Captain America)
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, I think? Also I think I’m pretty good at writing smut.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Finishing my goddamn fics, honestly. I also tend to be not great at keeping a consistent verb tense and...if I let myself go on an internal character monologue I *will* ramble for one thousand words without any physical indicators.
18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I LOVE it, i love it i love it i love it, although same as Gin, because I’m not *reaaaally* fluent in anything but french and english i haven’t written much actual dialogue. Although in Doubting Thomas I play around with how the language barrier affects the communication and such by using other indicators other than typing out hte dialogue, which has been a really fun process. (Although none of that part is posted because.....see ‘weaknesses’ LMAO
19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Some information that might just put some of your minds at rest concerning Roswell New Mexico’s PR:
I’ve been a big fan of Supernatural since season one, but some of you may not know a few things about the show’s PR, so I’m going to tell you, and hopefully, you’ll take it as good, or at least somewhat reassuring, news.
Supernatural’s PR has always, quite frankly, sucked. I remember rarely, if ever, seeing an ad for the show, even when season premieres and finales came along, there’d be little to no news about it. You might’ve even forgotten that SPN was a CW show because of how little they advertised it, but that’s not all.
Throughout the years, SPN was constantly moved around to not only different timeslots to make room for newer shows that were coming out, but it was moved to timeslots where shows generally “went to die.” Words the cast have said themselves. This had been happening since almost the beginning. There was even a head of the network who Jared and Jensen (the actors who played Sam and Dean) were very open about disliking. Supernatural had already been the longest running CW show at her time, and the head of the network didn’t even know Jared and Jensen’s names. Not only that, but she had actually pitched a show on that same network about “a ghost hunter named Sam.”
Tumblr media
That was how appreciated SPN was. Jensen Ackles (Dean Winchester) said so himself that it wasn’t until she left, the head of the network, that he felt safe again. Jared and Jensen have also both acknowledged that however long their show went on, they were never “a smash hit” like PLL or TVD. But they appreciated that all the more because everyone who was involved with the show loved it. Every fan they had was a big one. They wanted to keep their heads down, keep working, and give a great story. Now, RNM season 2, and the last few episodes of season 1, for obvious reasons, are certainly no SPN, especially considering the fact that most people agree that SPN’s first two seasons were the best, leaving fans eager for more, while fans that have stuck around for RNM have done so for the sake of a few characters, and are just hoping things get good again.
My point in all of this though is that SPN was the longest running CW show, but it was never heavily promoted, and not even acknowledged half the time. I’m not saying the same thing is guaranteed for RNM, but I’m just saying that there’s plenty that can be said for the shows that keep their heads down and do the work they’re meant to do.

We wanted to thank everyone who took time out of their busy lives to create content for Alex Manes Appreciation 2020 week. The overwhelming participation from every corner of fandom has been not only humbling, but also a clear confirmation of how Alex Manes remains the most valid man in the world of Roswell, New Mexico.
During the week we saw incredible stories, beautiful edits, and stunning gifsets all focused on Alex. We even welcomed brand new Alex content creators to the event AND to the fandom!
The past few months have been turbulent, for us both as fans and as content creators. Even as the season ended, we were unsure if fandom's love and passion for creation would return. We are however DELIGHTED that you all proved us wrong, and reaffirmed how much creativity and passion remains at the heart of this fandom.
While we don't know when season 3 will air next year, we can promise you Alex Manes Appreciation Week will definitely be back next year. And we cannot wait to welcome you all back to it.

Coda
Alex/Forrest Roswell, New Mexico Coda to 2x08
Go get him whispered a voice, faint beneath the decades-old echo of his father’s words ringing in his ears.
Alex couldn’t remember the last time - if ever - he’d felt a heat like that, a rush of attraction to someone who wasn’t Michael Guerin.
Forrest was sexy from the stocky way he was built to the pull of his favorite jacket across his shoulders, from the way the corner of his mouth ticked up on certain words to the intensity in those pretty brown eyes that had Alex wanting to strip down and bask in the weight of Forrest’s attention.
Alex got to his feet, leaving his beer untouched on the bar. The second he was up, the decision made, a sense of urgency took over. He left a couple bucks for Maria and cut across the crowded bar, out the double doors and into the brisk dessert night.
Alex stood beneath the flood light, letting his eyes adjust. Forrests’s car was still in the parking lot.
Alex wasn’t afraid of fear. He’d spent his life learning to coexist with it. Fear was comforting, familiar. Fear let him make excuses, cut out early and sit on the side while life happened around him.
He was afraid of this. Of crossing the gravel, of Forrest leaning against the hood of his car, of leaping and taking a step off the edge and into the wild unknown.
Forrest looked unsurprised, like he’d been expecting Alex. “I had a feeling,” he said in reply to a question Alex hadn’t asked. Alex wasn’t quite used to the way Forrest looked at him, always with an almost smile in his eyes, like he loved what he saw and wanted to keep looking.
Alex took a breath in and slowly let it out. Adrenaline and relief coursing through him, the near miss and the almost of standing toe to toe in the shadows of the Pony.
“How long were you planning on waiting?” He asked, struggling to keep his voice light, casual, when he felt anything but.
“Hadn’t thought that far ahead,” Forrest said. Alex appreciated the way Forrest spoke, blunt and honest. “I don’t know you well, but you don’t survive everything you’ve been through without a fucking arsenal of courage.”
Alex let out a breath, sharp and stunned. When Forrest spoke, Alex listened. He wanted to keep listening, thought maybe if Forrest kept speaking, Alex could start believing.
“I’m not that courageous,” he said, shaking his head but taking a terrifying step closer.
Forrest pushed his weight to his feet. He was an inch or two shorter than Alex and so full of light and life. Alex wanted to cling to it.
“Maybe not in your eyes,” Forrest conceded. “But from where I stand?” He reached out, eyes unwavering from Alex’s and slipped a hand inside Alex’s coat. He settled his hand carefully at Alex’s hip, gauging that explicit consent he was a fan of. “You’re a badass, Captain Manes.”
The words were spoken, clear and concise as though Forrest had never been so sure of anything ever, and Alex leaned in, closed the distance between them and plunged into the abyss.
Forrest hesitated for a moment, letting Alex take the lead and then all at once he responded with the kind of energy and heat that had burned bright through Alex since he showed up at the Pony for open mic night.
Alex slid his arm around Forrest’s waist, head tilted to allow for the slight difference in height.
Forrest kissed him, lips and the slightest hint of his tongue at the seam of Alex’s mouth and then abruptly ended the kiss.
He was gratifyingly breathless. “Yeah,” he said, as if to himself. “This’ll work.”
Alex smiled and leaned in, not quite ready to let go. He kissed the corner of Forrest’s mouth. “Should we go back in?”
Forrest shook his head, reaching out to pull Alex closer by the hem of his coat. “Maybe in a minute.”

Overall, I loved Season 3 of Roswell New Mexico. (Spoilers ahead!)
I enjoyed the main season plot. I truly feared Save Max v 2.0 would be really boring. But it actually turned out far better than I anticipated. In no small part because Jones was such a well done antagonist. The slow reveal of who he truly was combined with an actual bodyswap plotline? (Which I crazily suggested before the start of the season in this post but didn’t anticipate them actually doing.). Add in all the further information about the aliens and the history of Oasis? Yeah, I’m a sucker for all the alien crap. Not gonna deny it, it truly made the season for me. That actually includes all the technobabble other fans clearly had no patience for. (I can’t help it, I watched a lot of old sci-fi growing up and have retained a fondness for technobabble.)
On top of that, there were so many great friendship/family/found family feels! I’m not even sure I can pinpoint a favorite scene. Michael and Rosa? Rosa and Liz? Kyle and Rosa? Pod Squad? Michael and Kyle? Kyle and Max? Alex and Max finally getting a scene together? Like… so many scenes. It brought me so much happiness to finally see the forming of the found family I associate with the other versions of Roswell truly brought to life in this version. I’ve been waiting for it for two seasons, and this season it was like - there you are.
I was dubious of the addition of Dallas at first. I mean, he wasn’t exactly Adam (Roswell High alien character), and I was kind of hoping to see an Adam plotline. But, his character works well when mixed with the other characters, probably in part because he is in many ways a point of calmness and thoughtfulness among a bunch of really high strung characters with a tendency to jump the gun. (Kyle has his own version of calmness, but he’s also capable of spontaneous dramatics like randomly attempting to break and enter the cabin in season one.) I also genuinely enjoyed Dallas’s friendship with Heath, and their backstory. See if I continue to hold such high regards for his character in season 4.
Echo and Malex both had some amazing scenes this season. Yes, romantic declarations wise, but also just… communicating with each other. Moving towards healthy committed relationships with one another. I truly hope that will continue through season 4. (I’ll spare you my committed relationships aren’t boring rant… for now…) I for one would love a scene in season 4 where Rosa and/or Arturo poke at Echo about getting married. Also would love it if Echo decides the best escape from this is to throw Malex under the bus with a “They’ve been together longer. They should get married first.”
Can I just say that I really appreciated the fact Liz knew from kissing Jones that it wasn’t Max? Cuz it always bothered me in bodyswap plots when the romantic partner failed to realize something was wrong when they kissed. (Still can’t believe we got a legitimate bodyswap plot.)
And Alex taking off the bandana from Michael’s hand and them then walking down the street hand in hand? That is the kind of shit I read fics for. Having it on screen was just… damn.
Saving my criticism for a different post, so I’ll just end with my Season 4 wishlist:
The answer to who N38 was and what he downloaded to Jim Valenti’s brain.
Continued Found Family Feels
Flint Manes
Jenna Cameron
Dates. Like actual dates for our romantic couples. Can be interrupted by plot, but for eff sake, can they get on some dates? The various siblings have found time to sit down for meals together, I think our couples can manage shakes at the Crashdown Cafe or coffee at Bean Me Up at the very least.
More Arturo!
Kybel
More Sci-Fi Alien shenanigans
Speaking of… Dreamwalking!!!
I’m sure I’ll think of more later. For now, I am very much looking forward to season 4.

Fan Work Analysis Blog Post
Fan fiction and videos allow for a new perspective and approach to analyze shows/ movies and their characters along with the plotlines that surround them. I have watched and read many fav videos and fiction for the TV show Roswell New Mexico. One that stood out to me was the “Hey Brother'' fan video, created by Bisexual Alien Nerds, which analyzed the relationship between Michael, Max, and Isobel. This trio relationship has always interested me the most while watching the show and I enjoyed watching this fan video to see how others perceive their sibling-like bond.
Tumblr media
This fan work is giving another look into how deep and strong the trio’s bond truly is. It portrays multiple clips from their relationship and how they interact with each other. A main idea throughout their character relationships that this fan video exemplifies is how Max, Michael, and Isobel will always protect one another.
Tumblr media
The creator of the fav video clearly chose scenes from the show that exemplify this protective sibling dynamic the pod squad has with each other. Using different scenes from the show that display Isobel and Michael running to Max’s side, Michael in distress over Max’s heart failing, Michael and Max rushing to help Isobel, the trio in the desert when they were kids, and many more scenes that show how they grew up together and stayed loyal to each other throughout their entire lives.
Tumblr media
One very important scene the video used towards the end was when the trio stood as they watched the car burn that had Rosa and the other two girls in it. This storyline was integral to the siblings’ dynamic and exhibits how they trust each other implicitly. The video finally ended with scenes from the trio walking alone when they were first found and the last clip showed the pods that they were in stasis in for so long. These visuals portray how they have been with each other for so long and how they have had this relationship since the day they were found.
Tumblr media
Another essential part of any fan video is the background music. This video was edited to the song “Hey Brother” by Avicci and there was no added dialogue from the show. The lyrics from the song include “hey brother” and “hey sister” and the video uses these lyrics to show introductory clips of each sibling at either “brother” or “sister”. This already shows how the music choice is going to represent the sibling relationship the trio shares.
Tumblr media
Another lyric that is in the chorus and repeated frequently in this fan video is “for you, there’s nothing in this world I wouldn’t do”. This line is very important to the overall message of the song and resembles the protectiveness each member of the pod squad has over each other. In the video, when this lyric pops up, the scene shown is where one or two members of the trio are protecting or comforting the others.
Tumblr media
This fan video does a great job at representing the relationship between Max, Isobel, and Michael and how it has developed since their first time together leaving the pods. Through the music choice and scenes used, the watchers are easily able to see that the creator appreciates this relationship and see how the trio’s bond is portrayed throughout the show.

Max Evans has had one hell of a year. The Roswell, New Mexico Season 3 premiere, which picked up a year after the events of the Season 2 finale, saw the alien-turned-cop living large with his pseudo siblings Isobel and Michael. However, his easygoing demeanor was nothing more than a facade. As it turns out, he is dying, principally because his body is rejecting the heart transplant he received last season. Now, he is on a mission to wrap up his unfinished business -- not the least of which involves Liz Ortecho, the estranged love of his life, and Jones, the alien from whom he was cloned.
Speaking to CBR, Roswell, New Mexico star Nathan Dean offered some insight into Max's end-of-life plans. He shared why it was so fun to play two separate characters in Season 3, as well as how that effect was accomplished behind the scenes. He explained the key difference between Max and Jones, which may very well show Max his own potential. He teased Anatsa's key role this season and warned fans to be worried about the results of Maria's ominous visions. He also previewed Max's reunion with Liz, the real-world issues that Season 3 will tackle and more.
CBR: This season, you're playing two separate characters. How do you alter your approach to differentiate between Max and Jones?
Nathan Dean: You know, Max has spent his whole life suppressing who he is, suppressing his abilities and trying to hide and trying to be human. Jones has never tried to do that. He has never suppressed anything. He's never tried to stop himself from finding his full potential. So really, it was just the opportunity.
I thank our showrunner Chris Hollier and our writers for allowing me to do this, to really step into the potential of what Max could have been under different circumstances, if he hadn't grown up on Earth around humans. If he never tried to suppress these abilities, if he never tried to suppress who you are or your potential, what is that? What is the limit there? For Jones, there is none.
So it was really fun to then step into this fully evolved version of the character that I've been playing and then switch between the two, go back to understanding the circumstances of, "Alright, you're human, you're trying to be human," but then switch back into, "Oh, no, you're not. You're so much more than human. You're something far beyond that." Yeah, juxtaposing the two was a lot of fun.
What is it like for you to act opposite yourself? What does that look like for you behind the scenes?
Nathan Dean: It's very weird! It's very weird. You know, there were days where there would be myself and there would be a photo double -- one for Max, one for Jones -- and there would be stunt doubles -- one for Max, one for Jones -- and we just kept multiplying on set. But it was very bizarre. It was a lot of fun.
You sort of do one side of the scene a certain way and then switch over. You know, you take the beard off, you change the outfit and change the mannerisms, change the demeanor, and then try to have a conversation with the self that you just were. It was very fun! [laughs] It was very bizarre, but it was great.
Thanks to Jones, Max is finally getting some of the answers he's longed for. How will that impact the way he sees himself, particularly in relation to Isobel and Guerin?
Nathan Dean: It impacts him a lot. I mean, we spent this past year... we weren't working. You know, a lot of people weren't working and you just kind of sit at home and have to look yourself in the mirror and really figure out who you want to be and how you want the world to remember you and how you want the world to see you.
Max is confronted with this thing in a very real person of Jones, literally looking yourself in the mirror. It sort of forces Max, I think, to take stock and appreciate Guerin and appreciate Isobel and Liz, too. I mean, just be grateful for having them in his life and finding out his place in the universe. You get to see, I think, that growth from him all season of just that gratitude and approaching people with respect, and respecting his situation so much more seeing it from someone else's eyes.
As we found out in the premiere, Max is dying. How does he envision his last days? What does his bucket list look like?
Well, I think largely it comes down to him wanting to respect and honor the people around him that have loved him in his life, and he hasn't necessarily always been good on that. So he just really wants to just be there for the people he cares about. I think for him, dying quietly and disappearing is the best option. He's always wanted to disappear into the shadows, but this season and Jones in particular kind of forced him to step out of those shadows and step into himself more.
I hope that, by the end of the season, that we see a much more mature, a much more fully formed Max than we have in the past. He's no longer allowed to hide because now there's two of him! So yeah, he's kind of forced to step into the spotlight when he doesn't necessarily want to.
It looks like Roswell has a new sheriff in town. How will that affect Max's job and his role in the community?
Nathan Dean: It doesn't really affect him. I mean, Max thankfully is not -- he doesn't have his job by election, but it definitely hurts him because Valenti was tough, but she was always kind of on his side and had his back. So yeah, he has to definitely adjust and learn a new place and learn if you he trust the new sheriff, who is coming into town in very crazy times, because now there's not one, but there's two of me.
He's got to learn how to adjust with that and hopefully, the new sheriff will be able to -- maybe not be as understanding as Valenti was, but yeah, she'll have a whole new set of problems to deal with. I hope we can trust her and hope that he'll be able to keep his job and try to keep her out of it as much as possible. But yeah, it's definitely a new rule.
In this week's episode, we learn a little more about Anatsa and her reason for coming to Roswell. How will we see that dynamic evolve as the season progresses?
Nathan Dean: Well, that's gonna be fun. I mean, she has her own agenda, definitely, and Max is a little bit reckless off the top and kind of steps a little bit out of line. But yeah, I mean, she's coming here, she's gonna learn a whole lot of things that she wasn't quite ready to learn when she first came to Roswell. Yeah, as the season goes on, we'll see her become integrated into not only Max's life, but then obviously, Michael and Isobel's life as well. She is really striving to uncover what turns out to be some uncomfortable truths.
Roswell has never shied away from dipping its toes into controversial topics, so how does that set the stage for the show to tackle some real-world current events?
Nathan Dean: Well, we've all been through a lot of these last couple years. Having jumped forward a year, we definitely touch on -- I mean, it's unavoidable. There was a pandemic! There was a lot of people going through some pretty difficult times. Yeah, we definitely jump into it. I mean, we'll talk about it. We always try to stay as current as possible.
I mean, the fact that Max is a cop, that's controversial in and of itself, and we definitely talk about that. Yeah, like you said, we don't shy away from situations that are going on in the real world, and I think this year, we were given a good platform to be able to have these conversations with level heads and not shy away from it. Stuff will come up about being a cop; stuff will come up about the pandemic. Kyle, one of our main characters, is a doctor. This stuff that doctors have had to go through these past couple of years, it's all very, very much at the forefront of this show.
We try to tackle everything with a level head and with respect. We just were given a lot of ammunition this past year, and we'll dive into it and we'll talk about it. But central to our show, obviously, is going to be these aliens and the relationship between Liz and Max and all that. So we try to play it all on an even playing field.
Just how trustworthy is Jones?
Nathan Dean: [laughs] I think you've got to figure out his agenda first! I mean, you've got to figure out what he wants. Ultimately, Jones sort of operates as a window into the past. Michael and Isobel primarily, but also Max, always had these questions boiling around in their minds about, "Who are we? Why are we here? Where did we come from? What's our place in the stars? What are we doing? What's happening?" And Jones is a window into that.
He obviously has his own plans and his own thing, but at the end of the day, yeah, he's sort of what Max could have been, had Max not grown up on Earth. We get to see that unfold and unfold throughout the season. So yeah, I mean, do you trust Max? Do you just Isobel? Do you trust Michael? Do you trust any of these aliens? Do you trust Jones? I don't know! That's all yet to be seen.
Maria keeps having visions of a funeral and she isn't quite sure who's in the coffin. How worried should fans be?
Nathan Dean: Definitely be worried. You know, we're just learning now what Maria's abilities are and what her role in this cosmic game is. As we move forward, trying to figure out what her ability is, and are these are these, in fact, real? Are these set in stone? Is this something that can be changed? What are these visions? Are these the future that's going to happen or a future that could happen?
Yeah, we learn a lot about Maria this year, and obviously Liz is off in LA trying to figure out how to deal with that as well. It's fun to sort of -- you know, she's one of the new aliens in the group and we get to figure out what that's about.
What can you tease about Max's reunion with Liz?
Nathan Dean: I mean, Max and Liz have this relationship that is constantly push and pull. They're in this orbit around each other they just can't break. It is very appropriate that she literally runs into him, because no matter how hard they try to be apart and try to be separated, the world, the universe, whatever it is, they just keep literally crashing into each other.
Obviously, it's been a year. Max is not doing well, in a lot of ways. There's also another Max out there somewhere. So yeah, they crash into each other in quite a spectacular way.

One of my favorite fan video
I really like the ship videos of Michael and Alex, but I’m going to analyze the one about all characters. Roswell new mexico || light 'em up || my song know what you did in the dark – caught my attention because I already knew and loved this song. And I really loved it, because one thing I appreciated in Roswell New Mexico is the family vibes of all characters and how everyone is contributing to the story. They make a drive. Action. Interesting that song lyrics saying “My songs know what you did in the dark. So light 'em up” is associated with the Roswell plot: our alien trio was always hiding themselves, pretending to be human, but now comes the time to change it. Another story line, which also was in the fan video, is James Manes and his secrets and violence now uncovered and our characters “light 'em up”, destroying his evil plans. Almost every line of the song is showing the same scene from the show. I adore author’s who are capable of searching for exact scenes throughout the show just for a 3 second moment in a song. The best one, in my opinion, is “My childhood spat back at the monster that you see” and the Isobels scene, with flashbacks of Noah. It is actually also associated with the overall song topic, revealing something from the dark. The action scenes during chorus creates visual and audio pleasure.
