The druck s8 situation do giving wtfock s4 like producers knew we wanted moyo to be the main, and we know how their spur of the moment, money-grabbing sponsorships season turned out. Druck’s decision however feels more deliberate because having the most diverse cast, no blocked characters, complete freedom and so many options ava, kieu my, finn, josh they went with the environmentalist! anti-racist! white girl like they have to be joking
Sorry answering this late but also fitting for what happened today. This Zoe video is............ 😬 and druck basically being like sorry asexuals better luck next time. I am not even watching the show in realtime but logged in and saw the zoe video and sorry I haven't had a wtfock mo like that since s5 wtfock with amber's fake only fans post on insta. First of all why are they writing Zoe like this its starting to annoy me. Zoe has always been flirty and sexy but like she is legit wearing a bra and a pulled up thong in her dance video. LIKE WHAT?!?!? Dude we dont need to write an adolescent girl like that. The same effect would be reached by having Zoe wearing what she the girls wear in one of the dance practice clips. Like they are over sexualizing her but to a point that its out of character because Zoe doesnt act that way. Like chillax your audience arent morons. We get the plot Mailin compares herself to the traditional pretty girl the guy she likes use to date. Like this isnt ground breaking next thing you know they will have zoe rolling around in a bathing suit or some dumb shit. I mean I still think you could do a gray ace storyline but who in the world trust druck to write something that complex. I think the tag is talking about demi sexuality which could also be a narrative but idk feels like a cope out to just committing to making mailin ace but whatever as long as they leave Zoe alone am about to sign up for her protection squad. Also why the girls all sudden like sex crazy its just weird. The whole kieu my and fatou text with the suggestive image had me lol-ing like of course i think they probably send sexy pics but it felt so like gotta keep banging on about the fact that everybody has sex but mailin. Questionable shit is def going on...... hopefully they curve it soon.

Since I have no energy to follow every clips day by day, I watched a full episode only it’s pretty good. And here are my few thoughts about it.
1. Zoe is sweet. It could be awkward to talk about your ex when you’re talking to someone who’s interested in your ex but she was cool. And she’s probably bi…? Druck surely loves to show bisexual lol.(Mia, Kieu My, and then Zoe?? If there’s someone more please tell me)
2. Mailin’s grandma. Okay I have to admit I have soft spots for grandmas unless they do something horrible and I like her as well. And I can see Mailin wants to be like her Oma but sorry you have a long way to go…
3. Mailin’s abi result: I actually don’t know about abi that well but it’s still an exam. You have to give what the question wants you to provide. I like how she considered her beliefs (?) and showed it to public(kinda) but it was a test that’s asking you to write an analysis of poem not your political view. I think she could’ve wrote the correct answer and later she can post some problems with the poems on her insta or other social media.
4. Ava ava ava…Why are they changing her characteristics? She’s not Ava I met on s5 and 6 she’s whole different person to me. She’s more comical and like I said, more of Sam(girl) from og casts.
5. The ending was awkward and like how could somebody not be awkward when watching that. But I’m pretty sure druck will make Finn and Mailin kiss in the end🤷🏻

These arguments about not having an Ava season …sry but it’s not like ismail season is exploding in views right now Druck has their loyal fanbase that’s it
I think we probably will have an Ava season 8, at least she seems the most likely from the characters. She’s one of 4 possibilities but definitely the one I’m almost completely sure will be main. I mean at this point- the only actual possible mains are Ava, Yara, Finn, and Mailin. Nora was main, Josh was her 2nd and Zoe played a major role as her sister. Fatou was main and her second was Kieu My. Ismail is main and their 2nd on the cast list is Constantin. So of the instas Finn is all that remains, from the cashqueens Ava and Mailin, and then outlier Yara- which I wouldn’t be mad at a Yara season maybe we can finally see her insta lol. I’ll say 85% Ava, 9% Mailin, and 6% Yara for possibilities. Sorry Finn I love you but I don’t think it’s in the cards.

Hi Sarah 🙋‍♀️
Well, since you asked... 😉 Can you rate your favourite “Sanas”? & perhaps could you include both Imaan and Esra (🇳🇱) in the ranking? 👼 (since Esra was in a sense also a Sana and she’s soo precious! 😻)
Thanks in advance! 💐
Love,
anonacht 🌃
P.S. Yes, I’m everywhere! 😈 Only friendly fire though! 💚
P.P.S. “nacht” = the Dutch word for night! 🤓 And it’s still a shame skamNL never moved beyond season 2! 😭
Hello, Twitter anon aka anonacht :) I love you too (also thanks for putting up with me on Twitter, because I am insufferable, at least to myself lol)
Thank you for indulging me, and requesting my Sana ranking.
1. sana bakkoush - skam
It’s kind of sad that no other Sana season has been able to top the original, at least in my opinion. But Sana Bakkoush deserves this crown, because she is a character who redefined Muslim representation onscreen. Iman Meskini was such a force in her season, and everything Sana felt, she managed to make me feel like that too. When she cried, so did I. When she was angry, I was pissed, and so on. I love her and her Yousef so, so much. She is everything, honestly. I hope Sana is out there, being a doctor and revolutionizing medicine as we know it.
2. amira naybet - skam espana
Ooh, okay. I know a lot of people won’t agree with me on this one, and that’s fine! Amira Naybet means the world to me. Like literally, she is my comfort character. As I began this past fall semester as a junior in college during a freaking pandemic, she and Hajar Brown took my heart and ran with it. I personally love that she was also the Jonas in Cris’ season, as it gave her so much depth before her season aired. Ultimately, I agree that her season was flawed, and I definitely think that her season needed actual Muslim writers involved, and not just consultants. Her season production was also hindered by the pandemic too, which sucks, because I think a whole episode was cut from her season, and there was a lot of rewriting in the back half so they could meet COVID guidelines. But overall, I’m glad the writers tried to be different with their Sana and change some things up. I still love Amira, and I do love her relationship with Dani (although I will never understand that Al-Queda joke in his first clip, it feels like a misguided attempt at Spanish humor that did not translate well at all). And I’m glad Hajar felt safe and secure with this team and was happy with Amira’s story, given the circumstances. (ps: she deserved the full nine episodes, I don’t care what Movistar thinks.)
3. amira thalia mahmood - druck / zoya ali - skam austin
AMIRA THE SECOND. I love her too. I especially liked that she was technically the first Girl Squad member introduced in Hanna’s season, instead of Miss Mia. I liked that change. I also love the friendships she had with Matteo and David, and that Matteo was saved as “idiot” in her phone. She was truly a queen. Mohammed is also a king, one of my favorites. I also liked that Druck also tried to change some things and make their Sana season more relevant, with the Christchurch references and setting her season outside of Ramadan. But sadly, like Amira N.’s season, it failed to really delve into the racism that Amira had dealt with in the GS from Kiki. If Nadia was able to apologize well, I don’t understand why Kiki couldn’t have done the same thing. Again, I feel that her season needed Muslim writers to really delve into these issues. Also, the whole eight episodes thing? Dumb. They could have delved more into Mohammed’s immigrant experience and Amira reintroducing him to Islam, etc. Why can’t Amiras just get their full seasons for once?
Onto Zoya, who sadly didn't get her season, but I feel like she was a great character, perhaps closest to the Sana from OG in terms of characterization. She was “no bullshit,” but also the fiercest, loyal friend out of the Austin GS, besides maybe Jo, who really had Kelsey’s back at the end of s2. I feel like we really missed out on seeing her story, as she was a Muslim teen living her high school experience under a Trump presidency and a Muslim travel ban (that’s now thankfully been repealed). I loved that she got Prom Queen in s2, but I hate that literally everyone dropped the ball when it came to supporting her. The GS basically ignored the locker graffiti aka a literal hate crime? *cough cough* hire POC and Muslim writers. She was a queen though, like all Sanas who came before her.
4. esra aydin & imaan elami - skam nl
Imaan was cool, I enjoyed her entrance in s1, which I rewatched just for this ranking. Her little car? The music? I love it! It sucks that she was absent for chunks of s1, but apparently the actress had personal issues, which is why she did not return for s2. Understandable. Long reign her entrance clip.
ESRA! I loved her! I’m so glad that after Imaan’s exit that they decided to cast another Muslim woman for Linn. I love her, I loved her relationship with Ralph and the other characters, and I have a feeling that Skam NL’s season 4 would have been about her. An Esra season would have been great because it would have given us an young adult main outside of high school, and probably further depth into the Esklid character. Again, pour one out for Skam NL :(
5. imane bakhellal - skam france
Imane seems cool. I haven’t watched much of Skam France outside of s3, parts of s6, and s7, which is currently airing. I’ve been wary to watch her season, because I’ve heard about her having to apologize to the GS, and things dealing with Ingrid and her brother... and Sofiane actually dating Manon???? Like, WHAT. IS. GOING. ON. Her Yousef seems cute but dumb. But otherwise, Assa is really pretty and really supportive of her fellow Sana counterparts on Insta, which has endeared her to me. And due to that fact, I will defend Imane to the ends of the earth, and I will watch her season eventually. I promise.
6. yasmina ait omar - wtfock
Yasmina is still a bit of a mystery to the audience, I think. But I do plan to watch her season, if only for Nora Dari, who is very pretty. Bel!Yousef, treat her right!
7. sana allegui - skam italia
No words needed.

Hi! sorry to bug but i havent really been able to find the answer in the tags, ive seen people reference that there may be certain topics that new gens are supposed to hit, do you happen to know what some of these are, please?
hey anon!! not bugging me at all!! ❤️ you probably know most of this but just in case (and for anyone else wanting to join the clowning): there's a theory that any original* remake season must cover certain topics, most likely because of a. the old skamfr showrunner saying he had to send all scripts to nrk for approval before shooting, and b. the amount of similarities between the original seasons. this got long, so i’ll put it under a cut
the obvious similarity is that both skamfr & druck started their new gens with their vilde's youngest sister (vilde herself infamously being a ~blocked~ character which is another conspiracy theory lol, but maybe connected bc if you can't make a popular character a main, why not invent a sibling she can pester?). then, both nora m & lola's seasons featured:
depictions of mental illness & self-harm
the impacts of an alcoholic mother
fractured family (esp. sibling) dynamics + having a single parent
the process of finding your true friends
antagonists who are the mean, popular cool kids
the main having a breakdown and being rescued by their sister
a love interest who isn’t white
the main being interested in street art + photography
several similar shots, including the first clip, this, and this
so those might be some of the topics you’re looking for re: what they have to hit in their first original season, buuuuuuut i’d say most of these are just coincidences: the cinematography, and the LI not being white - skamfr don’t explore race beyond a surface level mention and in maya’s case, not at all, so i doubt they were specifically looking for a French-Japanese actress and simply cast who they thought best fit maya’s vibe. ‘the popular cool kids are mean, find your own squad’ is also like, a very common thing in teen media lol. imo, the vilde sister thing is just a coincidence too bc she’s simply an easy character to start your new gen from: she’s never been a main so inventing a sibling won’t conflict with og canon or remake canon tooo much, it’s basically a blank slate + she’s still fairly popular so it’s a way to draw people in + she (and her family) are white & cishet so there’s broad appeal etc. i can’t find it but when people were theorizing about wlw!nora at the start of s5, there was a post about wanting her to stay cishet bc it’d be far more interesting if the wlw character (we knew there’d be queer characters bc of a casting call) wasn’t white, and then that week we got confirmation fatou was gay, so.
(*the reason i'm saying original over new gen is bc kato's season actually hits some of these too: iirc, she had a fractured relationship with her mom; self-harmed and struggled with mental illness; her LI was Black; she had some issues with drugs/alcohol bc of her fractured relationship with her brother; she was interested in dance aka something artistic.)
most of the theory dies when you consider skamfr 7 vs druck s6 lmao BUT there’s still the whole ‘dating someone who has hurt one of your friends’ thing - i don’t mean this literally but in the easiest terms: tiff as kieu my, max as fatou, lola as ava (and lest we forget maya’s cameo). also, a movie featuring in both tiffax (titanic) and q2 (romeo & juliet)’s arcs. i could probably dig up more but i have repressed most of tiff’s season and have zero desire to rewatch it.
but ismail and bilal again have had some similarities: a fashionable main who potentially could be muslim who also unintentionally inspires their younger brother to steal. there’s also a love triangle, but those happen every french season so, we’ll have to see where s7 goes! personally, i don’t think the remakes contractually have to hit specific things, i think most are just fun coincidences but because they’re usually specific details (eg: nora and lola photographing street art, or the stealing brother) over generic ones, it’s easier to connect dots. but who knows! crack theories are the backbone of the skamverse fandom and most of the time it’s fun to put a tinhat on  🤡 hope this is what you were looking for anon!

My god what is this Druck show? It sounds so toxic I don't care if the characters are straight or not that's not something you should say to a person I was going to say no wonder this show is called Drunk because they probably were when writing it but then found out it's Druck lmao
Lol 😂 You prob weren't banking on a long response, anon, but here it is ☺
So Druck is the German version of Skam. Each season follows a fictional teen. It has a really cool format. So, it drops clip by clip. A clip could come out at any time, and when it does, the clip is set in that time and date that you are watching it. So, it's like these characters are living while you're watching 😆
The characters also all have their own IG pages, so again it's like the events are happening in real time.
S5 and S6 of Druck are absolutely stellar 💯 The casting purposefully brought in a diverse cast and the writers told really important stories regarding mental illness, family members who struggle with addiction, learning disabilities etc.
S6 is my absolute comfort show 🥰 It is Fatou's season. A black lesbian who is struggling in school and is hung up on the popular girl, Kieu My. Kieu My is honestly one of my fave characters of all time. I love that kid so much 😭
You've probably seen me fangirling over them because as S7 is currently on, they're side characters and are just happily in love with each other and posting stellar content on IG ❤
This is them:
Tumblr media
S6 also explored white feminism.
I really encourage you to check it out! If you type in Druck S6 in YouTube, all the eps are there with eng subs. The eps are all of the clips stitched together.
I also highly recommend S5 (you can jump into S6 first without issues). Personally S6 is my favourite. S5 is Nora's season.
The problem is that now it's S7 and brand new writers and the character's are so OOC and it's just not Druck 😩 I'm not actively watching this season. I just check in on what's happening.

hello you probably already talked about this but why did you drop robbe season?
Hi anon! 🧩 I have mentioned it before, yeah, but I don’t mind talking about it in a bit more depth.
Admittedly Robbe’s season was already a hard sell for me before it even premiered. I have watched every Eva season, and that has always given me an indication of how things are going to go for the Isak season. Like, even though remake teams tend to go all out for their Isak season, and try harder than with their previous seasons (and I don’t think it’s controversial to say remake teams know their Isak season will majorly increase their viewership, even fandom has pointed this out as a reason Skam NL should’ve stuck it out for VDH’s season), you can already get a good idea in s1 about what they want to keep from Skam and where they’re going their own way.
I love Eva and I also tend to like her remakes. Honestly, I find Eva’s story really interesting, Jonas a good character when handled well, and I’ve generally enjoyed getting introduced to yet another iteration of the girl squad. I like the familiarity of the story beats. I also think how Jonas’ ideas are handled is a good indicator of how politically minded the team is, and how they plan on using their platform.
And the thing is, despite all this, I found Jana’s season a struggle to get through. I had to try twice because I couldn’t get through the first time. At first, I thought it was because the writers had been super lazy with the adaptation. I loathe what they did with Jonas’ character, how little Jens knows about social justice. I was really put off by how, since they couldn’t write Yasmina into parties, they gave the drink throwing moment to Luca instead, but then more or less kept to the original storyline. Even back then, I was really concerned by how aggressive they made Moyo during the cabin trip clips. But then a friend binged the season after me, and brought up how terrible the pacing was (with Friday clips being moved to other days, destroying the momentum Skam builds through the week), how most of the actors sounded like they were literally reading from a script, and the utter spam of meaningless social media pics (with very few texts to go with it). And so I realized that this season I generally enjoy bored me, because Wtfock is generally just slapped together carelessly.
Another issue I had was... Well, I’m not sure this comes across given my rabid love for David, but I actually think Skam s3 is as close to perfect TV as it gets. I don’t think this is a season that needs fixing. And as the Isak seasons succeeded each other, I realized I didn’t care for an Isak season that pretty much just took Isak and Even and put them in another country. I prefer the Isak seasons that did something Skam s3 never did, because they were never going to improve on Skam s3, and to do the same thing would just remind me how much better the acting, the music, the photography, the writing, etc. was in Skam. So I was hoping that maybe Wtfock’s Even would be a moc and they’d touch on racism for a change. However I knew the chances of Wtfock casting a trans man or a moc for their Even were slim to none.
But at the time it was kind of unthinkable that there would be an Isak season dropping, and people would not watch. And I in particular was a bit of a completionist, like I haven’t watched most Noora seasons, but I’ve watched all of the Eva seasons, and all the Isak seasons except for the last few episodes of Lucas L’s. These days I’m comfortable not tuning in (esp after trainwrecks like Arthur’s or Kato’s seasons), but at the time it felt kinda wrong to not give a season a chance, you know. Besides, a lot of people whose opinion I trust said s2 was great! Zoe and Senne one of the best noorhelms, if not the best! They really had fixed everything that was wrong with noorhelm, their social media game was so good, etc... I mean, you were there for s3 I assume, you know how people were hyping Wtfock at the time. And, for instance, Druck majorly improved in s2 after a more or less okay s1, so it’s not like remakes had never fixed their shit before.
So I started watching, but right away, I didn’t like the way they introduced Noor. She almost kinda seemed like the actual love interest in how cool she was, and how happy Robbe was hanging out with her that first night. I posted this, speculating about why Wtfock would introduce her that way. I should note that I posted that link on twitter as well, and Bram Renders liked my tweet... not too long after his tweet complaining about fans who read too much into the show would surface. 😂
Since I enjoyed writing that post, I thought I’d post weekly reaction posts in the style of Nat (@lightsandlostbells) and some others. The problem is that I’m just really good at procrastinating (I’ve been promising reaction posts in the same style for my favorite Skams seasons for... years now lol). And I wanted to keep my reactions fresh, so I stopped watching in real time. My plan was to watch the clips when I had enough time to write. This was like... Middle of week 2, I want to say. At the time, Sander hadn’t even been introduced yet!!
Even though I wasn’t watching, I still followed Wtfock-related accounts, like translators and subbers, so I still kinda knew what was going on. I was actually really let down by the way Wtfock didn’t take advantage of having Robbe and Sander in the same location for an entire week. Like, Sander was sticking a sandwich in Robbe’s mouth in a ~sexy way a few hours after exchanging their names, and yet it all kinda simmered down? No tension over social media really. Idk, I just feel like if Isak and Even, or Cris and Joana, or Matteo or David, had been stuck in the same house for an entire week shortly after meeting, Skam, Druck and eskam wouldn’t have let us forget about it for even a second.
In the end, I never did write those posts, and I ended up washing my hands off the season because the tone of the discussions around the show was legit starting to get to me in a bad way. Like how LGBTI people were attacked for disliking the gay bashing scene. Or the discussions over whether the shower scene had gone too far or if Julie Andem had exploited Tarjei Sandvik Moe just as much. I disliked Moyo but also disliked the way white fans were writing about him. And the Britt bashing was just so gross. I was getting irl upset about a season I wasn’t even watching or following, so I put it out of my mind.

i just typed some extremely long First Impressions of Druck s5 ep 1 to my friends and i was like well hell i spent too much time on this shit not to share so uh just gonna dump it all here you’re welcome
tl;dr i didn’t expect to be having such a nice time but i’m having fun which is always a nice thing to feel when it comes to following the skams lol
1. so i think it's kind of funny that even just a couple weeks ago i was absolutely not enthused about another season focused on a white girl because after one week in nora's pov i am absolutely on the nora machwitz protection squad and i would give her my life. This is mostly due to the fact that druck has been really effective this week at using visual storytelling to establish her character - someone who's quite young [like i don’t think it’s an accident they cast someone who visually looks so young tbh] but has been forced to grow up fast because her sisters aren’t regularly at home anymore and her mother is alcoholic and potentially mentally ill. that clip where she video chats with zoe while doing laundry really hit me hard for some reason, like idk there’s just something about her being very clearly the only one in the apartment doing laundry and cleaning up around the house and eating dinner by herself and of course pouring out her mother’s alcohol which should absolutely not be her responsibility but like there’s an ease and familiarity with how she goes about these things, juxtaposed with her quietly asking zoe to stay at home that night but not pushing when zoe’s not open to the idea, that feels so quiet and yet so, so heartbreaking
and it feels like because of this she’s become someone who tends to cover up and underplay how bad things are for her so that people don't worry about her like she really takes on so much by herself??? The way she’s been lying to her sisters about her mom, underplaying how messy things are with constantin [and i feel like if zoe knew the full extent of it she would probably take her sisters side in a heartbeat but I'm guessing nora probably doesn't want to strain their friendship so she hasn't said more about it, like it’s hard to imagine zoe knows about ismael telling her point blank to stay away from them], lying to her mom so that there won't be unnecessary stress put on zoe and the others, fucking plastering a fake smile on her face after she was on the literal verge of a panic attack so zoe’s night can continue without disruption. I think that's part of why constantin’s outburst hits so hard [of course without even mentioning how painful it is to have such ableist things thrown at you when her mother is potentially mentally ill], bc we know she has lied and have already seen it multiple times but we also understand her motivations for it very deeply.
time will tell of course if druck will be able to keep up this momentum with her character but idk i just find myself very pleasantly surprised with how compelling i find their visual storytelling so far! like a lot of what we know of nora’s character we know from those quiet clips of her by herself, not through much dialogue bc so far she hasn’t really had the opportunity to talk to a lot of people. though i hope that changes and she gets to find her people soon :’]
[As well I love that she's an artsy hoe who doodles in her notebooks and keeps stickers in her bag at all times so she can put little pieces of herself in random places across the city I ADORE HER]
2. I really liked the way they revealed that Fatou was queer - in a teasing but meaningful comment/glance, implying that she's already out while acknowledging her queerness in a quiet but explicit way. also ismael showed up today in a skirt which i find utterly delightful and like i'm really digging this casual queerness bc it's not really something that's been a part of any of the skams before if i recall correctly? not in this way, at least. and maybe it’s just me but even though there are a lot of [ostensibly] straight characters still, idk it feels more lowkey to me, at least so far. like there have been other things to focus on which is always a wonderful feeling.
3. along those lines i find it kind of interesting that we don't really know who nora's love interest is yet [assuming she even has one, which i am bc idk if skamverse really has the range for a season that has no romance in it whatsoever but who knows, they might prove me wrong this time, and i would thank them for it] because they focused on other things this episode - her isolation, her complicated relationship with her mom and her sisters, etc. - which i think also contributes to why i had a nice chill time watching this episode. not that i expect that to last very long skdfjdksn but idk! it's nice not to have to worry about who the love interest is even if it's just for a week! like for now i'm just chill to see where things go you know [and yes i have my own ideas about who the Love Interest is but like no one asked me]
4. i think something i forgot that i really liked about druck but that has made watching this episode very enjoyable is that there's just something about the aesthetic that makes it feel so teenager-y? idk how else to describe it but i really do think druck is the remake that comes the closest to og skam in capturing this feeling! as well as the more quiet character-driven moments that are just as important to the narrative as the more dramatic moments. and druck is the most likely of the remakes to give their clips space to breathe i think which i didn't realize i missed but i appreciate very much. and of course all the characters feel like real teenagers, like perhaps an unpopular opinion but i honestly quite like most [except for constantin so far, what an ass, but honestly i hope that will change eventually idk i’m feeling weirdly optimistic about this season] of the new characters so far even the ones who are being dumbasses lol. like idk they all think they're so cool but they're actually such stupid dorks who don't know how to deal with their emotions and i’m into that bc i too was a dumbass teenager who didn't know how to deal with their emotions so there's this sense of they're probably going to learn and grow from their mistakes and i'm excited for them, i really am
5. they won't do this for me because the skamverse hates me specifically and would never give me a queer viet character like it’s just not in the cards for me but - fatou for s6 main with kieu my as her love interest. I SPEAK IT INTO EXISTENCE.

And also I can't imagine a transphobe faking all of this? I could not imagine them wanting to play that role and I certainly can't imagine the other actor's being good with him if he is a transphobe AND I can't imagine that druck would have supported that. Sooo. They don't need to be friends. They are friendly with each other. Michi is just also a very socially awkward person.
yeah I really don’t see how michi, if he was a transphobe, would do an entire season about his character loving a trans man (he KNEW this too, lukas said he was one of the only other actors who knew about him being trans on set). and with how the director is so passionate about this I highly doubt she would hire a transphobe and keep them employed during season 3.... also like you said michi is super socially awkward and skam fans are fucking weird (just look at what ppl did with tarjei and henrik I’m sure he saw that and really didn’t want to deal with it). he’s a very private person and fans are very insistent on digging into the cast’s lives. he probably has a finsta anyway lol

i don’t know if you do rankings but if you do would you mind ranking the skams and saying your favourite character in each? (i’ve just started following you and just wanted to know your thoughts) :) x
of course, I did a lot of rankings a few weeks ago, I love ranking stuff, it’s so personal and I get to appreciate my faves and drag the stuff I don’t like dshvhsj
1. druck - so technically i think skam españa is better written, but druck just is closer to my heart for some reason, it’s probably a combination of how I’ve build my account on this remake and also because my native language is german and that always just kind of adds another layer to the story imo. I love the characters, druck definitely has most of my favourite characters, their dynamics are amazing and I love how druck managed to connect the boy and girl squad. favourite character: matteo florenzi
2. skam españa - like I said, it’s the best written skam imo, their messages are always so thoughtful, their girl squad is supportive and feels so warm and welcoming. they really care so much about their audience and about accurate representation and it feels like they do their research properly. favourite character: joana bianchi
3. skam austin - solid writing, compelling characters, amazing changes. i definitely didn’t like as many characters in this one as in many other versions but I love morally grey characters, and I still appreciate their stories and growth, yet i am incapable of choosing one favourite character: jo valencia and shay dixon
4. skam - season 1 and 3 were amazing, literally ground breaking and I love rewatching them, season 2 and 4 were really really weak and didn’t do either of the mains nor the side characters any justice. favourite character: isak valtersen
5. skam nl - it’s so pretty and the cast has natural chemistry, the writing is really weak though if you really pay attention and are not blinded by aesthetic shots and beautiful scenery. favourite character: isa keijser
6. skam france - the telenovela remake, it’s dramatic and there is always something happening, I personally like to watch it ironically, just how I enjoy watching pretty little liars or elite, it’s fun but can’t be taken too seriously. favourite character: imane bakhellal
7. I don’t even want to say anything about wtfock lol y’all know my complaints, if not just go here. season 2 was alright though, at least considering how bad it could have been favourite character: oh boy... either they are underdeveloped or they did something i just can’t get past lol so I think my favourite is yasmina, she seems sweet so far
I can’t rank skam italia because I’ve only seen s2 and parts of s1, so I don’t really have a proper opinion, I just know I don’t like the aesthetic at all and the writing of s2 was very weak imo

druck isn't shooting back to back this season. can confirm that 100% cause i have friends in the crew/cast lol.
Tell us more anon we love friends of friends in this blog. I know someone losely connected to druck. From my understanding they renegotiated funding right before ismail seasons (the week the Italia announcement drop the was the same week druck was either going into their funding meeting or somewhere around there because my friend asked druck about their renewal on the day of italia and they said they just had some lose business ends to tie up but they were coming back for sure) so I assume if they are going to go two seasons they have the funding locked or it ends after this one. I would be very shocked if they didn't secure all the funding at once from the state. It felt like they wanted to just settle all the business decisions upfront and not have to worry about that anymore.
Also this isn't any shade towards you but i dabble in the spoiler game and this is mainly what this blog does and we all have friends of friends here. Its kinda of the whole point of the blog. So if you have something real i can probably get it confirmed from someone I know is solid. So give us the tea and i can figure out if its legit but teasing kinda burns us out and we lose interest.

Amira’s Vanished Hustle, Perceptions of Missed Opportunities, and What Everyone Should Consider About the Story So Far
[deep dive under the cut]
Some messages I got over the weekend were along the lines of: “No Damira again on Friday whew you must be heartbroken huh?” But, y’all, I wasn’t surprised. And to be completely honest, my reaction on Friday was very different from the ones I saw in the tag. Yeah, I was super happy for the adorable Amira and I was also side-eying the glaring absence of Carlos’s besties at his own housewarming -- but my main thought after the clip was: “LOL OH SHIT HERE WE GO.” Because in my mind Friday was an ENORMOUS RED FLAG that the only substantial thing left to do in Amira’s story arc is the cute Bon Voyage party to send her off on her dream trip. Even before this big POV shift happened, Druck hadn’t given us any reason to expect much more than that in her remaining plot, and I’ll elaborate on that here.
I don’t wanna jump to the conclusion that Druck can’t possibly stick the landing, because hey, they might! We have no clear idea what will happen between now and the final goodbye party, so maybe good things are coming that will subvert all of our worst imaginings! But I feel like this is a hinge point in the season to do a little reassessing of expectations... and to come clean about one big reason why I’ve mostly spoken superficially about this season up until now.
The very first red flag, for me, was when I realized Druck was planning to basically pretend Amira never had a job. That oversight might not seem like a big deal to most, and it’s not like her job was the first thing Druck ever made disappear unceremoniously (remember when Leonie and Sara had other close girl friends? lol) but to me it was a signal that my expectations for Amira’s story (based on her previous strong characterization) had maybe been too high. And I immediately felt a bit cheated.
Amira was already so fleshed out coming into her season. She was demanding, quick-witted, and nurturing. She was fiercely protective of her friends, and even more fiercely ambitious, with a willingness to work harder than anyone to get ahead in life. She was sunny but tough-shelled, with a well-established resistance to trusting any men. And, loving her as much as I do, I felt strongly that she deserved to have plenty of brand new story elements that reflected all those things. To have her own story shaped around her, rather than she herself being reshaped to fit Sana’s story.
But then it was finally her turn to shine, in a Summer season, when it would make perfect sense for her to be on a job grind to earn cash for her trip, and... she’s not working? Huh? She managed to work all through a tough school year, but not her free summer vacation? Why? Because of Druck’s low budget? Because they lacked cohesion in the writing process? Some combination of the two? Yikes. Who knows. But suddenly, nonsensically, they had flushed away the perfect framing to showcase her work ethic, her daily perseverance, and her varied interactions (good and bad) with lots of strange customers around Berlin.
It felt like a bad omen to me somehow. Which wasn’t a great mindset to start the season with. And that was the beginning of me trying very, very hard not to be confused and salty about every little thing I began to perceive as missed opportunities to give Amira a new kind of substance in her story.
For example: While David, Matteo, and Sam began having fun off-screen, working on an bold alien movie, Amira inexplicably had no involvement. She kinda scoffed at the idea when it came up on-screen, then immediately lost interest in the conversation because her man was texting. Fair enough, right? That scene was moving her story forward while generously giving a little shoutout to the meta insta storyline, right? The problem is: the off-screen story ended up seeming much more interesting than watching Amira chilling on her own texting a bunch, and we weren’t even given a reason for her to not be part of it after the whole crew was invited to join in. Imagine if we had followed her onto a shitty little makeshift movie set and seen her reacting to the chaos and strangeness of it. Imagine her finding a resourceful solution to a production hiccup or mediating a creative disagreement while trying to hide her own inner turmoil from her friends. And imagine her having an extremely important conversation with David (and/or Matteo and/or Sam) about the film’s deeper themes of alienation and otherness that they can both sadly relate to.
That’s just one weirdly specific scenario, but there are sooo many other ways I fantasized about Amira bonding with her friends (particularly the ones who aren’t cishet white kids or brand new characters). Talking with one or more of them about what it means to be dangerously marginalized, or to be afraid of letting someone get close to you, or to feel torn in two different directions in life. Maybe something like that could still happen before the season ends, but I’m not counting on it. And I think the time has passed for it to have the biggest impact. It could’ve been amazing (and really narratively useful!) if it happened before the resolution of Amira’s brief conflicts with Kiki, Erva, and Mohammed. We saw a lot of scenes with her looking angry and sad, but we weren’t really privy to much of her thought process during all that reflection, so it felt uncomfortably unearned when problems she once saw as insurmountable were shortly waved aside. I would’ve really appreciated even a short conversation with some good change-of-heart exposition.
And while other people were cheering about all the controversial Sana season conflicts being blessedly truncated or completely stripped away, the whole time I couldn’t stop thinking: “Okay, awesome, but what are they gonna replace that storyline with? Nothing?” And, for the most part, that seemed to be true.
But the problem clearly wasn’t limited to a shortage of well-integrated story threads with Amira at their center. It was arguably also a failure to capitalize on the stories they did use. Instead of getting to watch the emotional fight with her mother about punching someone, and witnessing Amira faced with the threat of losing Australia, we only heard about the drama afterward. Just like we only heard about her family’s religious holiday together. Just like we only got a few texts between Amira and Jonas about the refugee event. And just like how, as I sat typing this, Amira’s mother re-blessed the trip off-screen. On and on goes the list of examples of this unfortunate tell-don’t-show approach, and I’m sure a lot of it can be attributed to low budget and tricky cast scheduling, but the time limit excuse probably doesn’t apply if Amira’s main plot really has been efficiently pared down to 7 episodes.
Don’t get me wrong, I want to reserve final judgment on the season until the credits roll, and there are plenty of good things to say about it in the meantime. Yes, it’s been lovely to see so many gorgeous shots of Tua praying, and boxing, and expressing everything from attraction to anguish to helpless rage. Yes, she and Hassan both did some really strong work selling the magnetic pull between their characters, even in the face of (what I consider to be) an underdeveloped narrative that didn’t totally sell me on the relationship overall. Yes, it was wonderful to have some aesthetically pleasing scenes of the girl squad loving and supporting each other, even if they mostly talked about boys the way Amira hoped they wouldn’t. And obviously just having a story about a strong, kind, devoted hijabi girl is vitally important visibility. So I really haven’t wanted to say anything negative in the face of all that...
... but now I have to say: if you’re feeling cheated and mad about the POV shift, then take some time to consider what else specifically you think should’ve happened to Amira before we entered this resolution phase of her story. It seemed like most people were perfectly happy for her to not face any complex conflict, and not have any lingering hardship to dramatically and triumphantly overcome. Every obstacle getting a relatively swift and easy solution felt underbaked to me, but it was a big relief and source of praise for most people in the tags right up until Amira disappeared from clips. So: in hindsight, how would you have added not just length, but also more compelling drama and greater social impact to her story, so that the extra length felt well-used? It’s really worth thinking and talking about that, even if you’re hesitant to voice any criticism of Amira’s part of the story (even after the season ends, and even if it’s totally constructive) -- because thinking and talking about it is how we’ll get that kind of richer, fuller story in the future.

ok here’s what i think for now
after that final story i just want to take a second to empathise with how lukas must be feeling. he always played by the rules by not including other actors on his insta and now he has the green light he just wants to share stuff that honestly, if we were all not so bitter, we’d be happy to see. and it’s obviously good that we were all so in love with david and wanted him for s5 but all the theorising must of been hurtful for him to see without being able to say anything. so when he was allowed, he wanted to put people out of their misery so we weren’t given false hope. how was he supposed to know how people would respond due to things he isn’t in control of? it isn’t his place to do all this damage control and he shouldn’t feel bad for sharing and saying what he wants.
we all obviously hold onto these lol pls say sike things bc we love druck a lot and don’t want it to end. i know I’ll probably cry when i wake up tomorrow and this has all sunk in but for now, when we’re all so sad, i think i want to put the criticism of the season and of the messy delivery of the message aside and just enjoy the last clips we get. while we can, i want us and the cast and the crew to enjoy it

hi hi hiii. finally back home from berlin, caught a few zzz’s, still sleep deprived, but i’d do it again in a heartbeat!
i‘m gonna ~try to do bullet points here, but you know me... probably not gonna happen. sorry, you have to deal with my longwinded ramblings now, i‘m posting this mostly to remember it all for myself.
let me preface this with a quick disclaimer, these kind of events are usually not really for me, too awkward, too cringy, i’m shy as fuck and socially incompetent in general... but druck has had such an impact on my life, it was a no-brainer for me to go.
biggest shoutout to @lapalooz (with no access to her real tumblr, get on that!) for making the waiting time not only bearable but enjoyable with her engaging presence! aaand i’m pretty sure i wouldn‘t have made it to the meet&greet (aka hi&cry) if i didn‘t have the amazing @matteounterdruck by my side. thank you tina, so much!!! you really kept my spirits high and taught me how to release nervous energy through dancing! lmao ❤️❤️❤️
okay. let’s start at the beginning. the exhibition of and appreciation for all the fanart was one of my favourite things when we walked into that location. druck really said this show is as much about YOU as it is about US and just how lovely is that???
the q&a wasn‘t as bad as it could‘ve been... i just wish it would have been a bit longer though! they seemingly were prepared for the ‚why did amira‘s season end after 7 eps‘ question, but tua being honest and saying fuck yes, i wanted 10 eps for her too... iconic.
surprise surprise, the two people i truly didn‘t expect to be there were milena and michi. and then they were! and they were whispering to each other a lot <3 and michi was the most adorable awkward person to ever exist. you can tell he really is such a shy and private person, and i think seeing that spelled out right in front of us like this made it all the more special that he showed up at all! the things he ~did say were really witty and charming though, so there‘s that. 💕
the bloopers were so good, it was moving to see how much fun they had on set and that their friendships aren’t contrived in the slightest! all i kept thinking was “i can‘t wait to reblog the gifs of that to my tumblr“ haha. SO WHERE‘S THE VIDEO @DRUCK?!
for someone who went in there expecting to have a complete breakdown i was actually okay...ish when we watched the ep (i was so relieved to finally see amira again!) and david‘s film... until the cast went up on stage during anselm‘s second song and mile was stood there, tears streaming down her face, leaning on lukas for comfort. oi, that broke me. :(
quick shoutout to the person behind me who was crying in the club as they say, no, actually it was full on SOBBING. in my mind i just kept going ~SAME~. and, you know, anselm‘s songs didn‘t help the cause either... what a mess.
now on to the meet&greet. if you’re not interested in the people behind druck, or you think meeting them in person is weird or whatever - then this part is not for you and you’ll want to x out of here right now, please spare me the comments, i‘ve already had enough negativity in this fandom for years to come, whew.
i‘ll put this under a cut, just to be extra sure.
you know, i‘ve grown so attached to these characters over the last 1.5 years and it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to say thanks to the actresses/actors who made them come to life. for real though, i think really looking them in the eyes and saying THANK YOU was the best thing about the whole experience for me.
this‘ll be chaotic, i’m just gonna list everything i remember off the top of my head, please bear with me.
first of all: best. cast. ever! every single one of them was lovely in their own way... some of them are really high energy people (keep in mind we went in reallllly late, they had been doing this for hours at that point!)... think anselm, tua and mile. they just carried everyone else with their energy!
anselm was as warm and welcoming as i expected, yet it still surprised me how confidently he handled the whole situation (unlike me rip)... i literally blurted out “you‘re such a good host!“ to him and he sounded really flattered when thanking me. he just has the best vibes <3
naomi... oh my god. i was really shocked to even see her at all which was only right before it was our turn with her group. she made a little sarcastic remark about how she “can‘t wait to be tagged in alllll the pictures“ lmao. just leave it up to her to make me fall in love in real life too. :(
i don‘t know if they did it in all of their pictures, but her and hassan were hugging it out in the background of ours like the laura/mohammed crackship that they are. loved that! lmao
speaking of hassan though, i only had the BRIEFEST interaction with him bc how does one cope with all that beauty up close?! one doesn‘t, that‘s how. damn.
i lovelovelove that they kept the five girls together for the photo op, now the pictures ended up looking like we‘re part of their squad!
tua was the life of the party, she made the whole room dance and sing along when ‘geiles leben’ came on (that was when most people had left already bc we went in so late)... it was such a special moment!!! she was also really confused whether to speak german or english to us, bilingual queen!
lea gives the BEST hugs that was so unexpected for such a tiny person, she REALLY goes in wow.
jobel... all i remember is that my face was literally buried in her hair while we were hugging and she smelled amazing!
and lilly omg... lilly! my favourite bean, so easy to talk to, the best aura! she was kinda stretching her legs out when we got to her (l m a o) and kept thanking us for waiting so long (which... a few of them said that... and i always replied with a hä?! thank YOU for doing this for so long!) and rolled her eyes just at the thought of the aftershow party they had planned and told us she‘ll only drink water though! lmao
mile as i mentioned earlier was being so motivational, yelling “we‘re gonna do it! we‘re gonna get through all of you!“ in between again and again, probably more for herself than any of us haha. we did end up talking about food with her, which... you know. foodies amongst each other. ;)
found a whole new appreciation for louis... who poured so much of himself into carlos oh my god. chill. quick witted. hilarious!
so now i left lukas for last. as i briefly mentioned before, i didn’t go up to him after romeo&juliet, but this time i did (there really was no other option when you were there, that would‘ve been rude lol) and i wasn’t let down. at all. he was one of the few people who actually properly introduced himself and that is SO nice, one of the things i’ve always loved about people who are in that kinda position, you know? he is just the sweetest sweetheart, we all know it, he’s proven it over and over. he ran across the room bc some fans forgot their photos at their table, that’s how considerate he is. while we were waiting for our pics to be printed, he came over and hugged us AGAIN and made it a point to say goodbye. MY HEART. 💕
oh, also... we noticed that the mile/flo/louis/lukas group was the most organised with the whole picture situation... they had a ~system going y‘all. lmao
okay. i think this might be it for now. OOF. if anyone actually read all that... you deserve a cookie. i know i promised coherent thoughts, but this is. what you’re gonna get. oops?
if i remember other bits and pieces i‘ll put them in my tags or whatever.
i‘m gonna see myself out now.

Whyyy do you think the new cast will happen? There is nothing that supports this.
anonnn do you want a serious answer? 😬
i’ll put it under a cut so it’s easier to avoid for anyone who doesn’t wanna hear about it. so read at your own risk lol
ok, so i’ve pretty much believed that there is gonna be a new generation since they sent out that casting call before s4. it obviously wasn’t for s4 and has never really been brought up again so far but i know that people applied and that the casting process at least went to a certain point and wasn’t just completely abandoned shortly after it was made.
so there has to be a reason for the casting call. and sure, they might need new characters even if they continued with the current cast but so far they haven’t cast any of the new supporting characters through such an open casting call. however, that is how they cast the original main characters.
and then we have the fact that the end of s4 really felt like an end. they went to great lengths and totally screwed over amira just to wrap up some storylines they thought needed closure. they broke the 4th wall and said goodbye to us. so it would actually be kind of weird if they just picked up with those characters again next season and it would feel like amira was shafted for nothing.
and sure, one could argue that they did that because they didn’t know if they were gonna be picked up for further seasons, but... i find it hard to believe that they had no clue about how it might continue. i’m actually pretty sure they at least had some kind of plan for the future. i mean, again, there was the casting call and i don’t think they would’ve done that if the show’s future really was THAT uncertain. and also i’m sure they would’ve had to talk to the NRK quite a while in advance to make sure they’d even be allowed to make more seasons and then of course the infamous “Bis Bald”. all of that doesn’t sound like they had no idea what would happen with the show. but if they had plans for the future, even if they weren’t 100% guaranteed to come to fruition, why would they just let the current cast’s contracts run out if those plans involved them. a lot of them are actually quite busy these days so if they wanted them for future seasons they probably should’ve made some arrangements as soon as possible.
though i will admit that some of those things really had to wait until they got the final, official green light from the network, which i think they might’ve gotten only recently, but still.
and another thing is that, if they were open to doing seasons after school/at university etc., why did they rush so much to get amira’s season out? why not have amira’s season take place at uni then? and ok, they set up that amira would go to australia after school since s2 but... they didn’t have to do that in the first place? if they were open to the uni setting, they could’ve started with amira’s season and everyone being busy with uni and jobs and stuff actually could’ve explained why so many characters were always missing from the group scenes.
and then there is this survey that also sounds like new gen to me and them doing research about what might be relevant to the current youth.
and of course the “alles neu”/”all new” sounds suspicious af and the fact that the cast found out the same day we did doesn’t bode well either. the only thing that kind of makes me question everything a little is that the cast apparently got officially informed by the druck team (that least that how i understood what lukas said in his live, though i didn’t actually watched it and only heard about it second hand... anyway) because if the cast wasn’t going to be involved somehow, why would they bother to let them know through such official channels instead of letting them find out the same way we did. but... maybe they just wanted to be nice and let them know that they should expect a lot of questions from the fandom, who knows...
oh and also the fact that it starts in summer, when the new school year also starts in summer (early august). and a season about university would make more sense to happen in fall because that’s when the new uni semeser starts (beginning of october)...
anyway, i think that’s all the reasons i can come with with for now... and i would LOVE to keep the old cast but... idk guys =(

Man I have never vibed that much with druck but i give them so much credit for their original seasons, and having POC mains when fandom dont usually favor them. I just noticed that skames s4 most viewed clips (besides the first) are crisana and norandro so there's that. And druck S6 is coming so soon after s5, what's up with that? but I'm excited.
Hi anon 🐢 I’m going to assume you also watch eskam, so I will say I vibed much harder with eskam as a general rule, than I usually vibe with Druck. (David’s existence notwithstanding.)
I think one thing about Druck that sets it apart from other Skams is that they’re not too proud to take in feedback. Honestly... I don’t know of any other Skams team that dropped the Sana season, paid attention to the criticism, said, “actually, they’re right,” and stepped aside, so that a queer poc film collective could assist with casting and both direct 3 episodes of s5 and write s6. Afaik Druck is the only Skam that has gone ahead and hired crew of color after s4. Even the Austin cast said Skam Austin (which came after Skam s4) was very white behind the camera.
Does that mean their treatment of racial issues will be pitch perfect going forward? (I mention this because I know people have had issues with the way Ava was written in s5.) Not necessarily, but one thing I’ve noticed watching Jünglinge interviews is that they’re very aware that they don’t know everything about every topic, and they want to create opportunities for others. (I really wish people sought out more info about Jünglinge, instead of making noise about the next gen cast only.)
Tbh, I think the Skams are in general very white shows, and it doesn’t surprise me to hear that the eskam s4 most viewed clips are pomenora and croana (the superior ship names sorry to say), because that has been a trend for every other Skam. Like... The s4 clips that included Isak, Even or both, had more likes than other clips. The Wtfock tag exploded every time Robbe or Sander made an appearance in s4 (not even when Zoë or Senne appeared lol). The same thing happened with Amira M.’s season when it switched to Mia’s POV. And so on...
Anyway, Druck was actually quietly greenlit for s6 at the same time as s5, and Jünglinge has been working on s6 probably for as long as Q3 (the other writers) have been working on s5, so while it’s pretty great to have s6 so soon after s5, s7 might take a bit longer to show up. Just a heads up. 😂
