                     NEW VERSE - FANTASY 03
FANTASY 03 - MODERN
Growing up in a magic family, it was only natural for Shoto to follow in their ways and become a mage upon the presentation of his magical ability. With a natural affinity for both ice and fire, he was quickly decided to be the successor of his father, Todoroki Enji, one of the more powerful mages within the magic community, rivalled only by All Might, an elusive magic-user that Shoto wasn’t sure existed, simply a rumour. Many had heard of him, but few could confirm his existence, to the point Shoto was convinced any sighting of the man was simply a trick of the light or an illusion.
As he grew older, Shoto was kept away from the rest of the world, isolated for the most part to be trained by his father to expand his magical ability with spells, as most did, regardless of their natural affinities. However, his upbringing lead Shoto to come to one conclusion: fire was destructive, it burned through everything, it took and took and took, and Shoto would never use it. He’d never be like Enji.
His first introduction to the outside world was high school, with strict instructions not to get in trouble and the encouragement to flaunt how well-versed he was with his magic, albeit he doesn’t brag much about it, or talk about it. The most he uses his magic for is to cool a drink or, in rare cases, heat up food, while doing his best to avoid other people and conversations about his magic.
The goal was simple: to convince them all he was weak, if only so they’d have no trust in him to be the figurehead of the Todoroki family once Enji died and his father would be forced to be without an heir.

♡ / not accepting. @keshimasu: (ʘ‿ʘ) / 09. fantasy au
SHOTO TRULY WAS NOT A FAN OF OTHER PEOPLE, mostly for the fact he was often referred to as a disgrace — after all, the notion someone descended from such a powerful family could be magicless seemed to cause unrest with others, despite the fact it was simply an act, a way to leave his father without an heir upon his death. Those aware of his magic simply knew it to be weak, unable to produce a single flame or shard of ice unlike either of his parents.
That was his plan, at least, but now he wasn’t so sure.

❝Aizawa-sensei.❞ He muttered in greeting, looking up from his hand at the man, blinking. ❝I didn’t realise you’d come in. Apologies.❞ Shoto was, after all, rather early to class. Pointedly, he ignored the piece of paper — a note from his father — that was burning in his hand, humming to himself. ❝Hello.❞
